We would certainly miss Sills for both his physical presence (and guile, footballing brain and all-round skill!) on the pitch, but I would imagine that Barnes from Plymouth would already be lined-up to take that role on a loan basis if (God forbid) we lost Sills to suspension or injury.
The fact that Sills is available and we have Benyon, Green, Dsane (as well as TT), I would be extremely surprised if we saw LP re-join us (especially if there was some break-down in the relationship with PB).

I don't agree that Lee Phillips return would have to signal a return to hoofball. Tisdale valued Phillips abilities & didn't want him to leave & join us. Phillips played very well & effectively under Tisdale & that was never the direct long ball style that Buckle adopted on his arrival at Plainmoor.
I'm sure it's a non starter anyway as I don't believe that Lee would wish to be managed by PB again any time soon. Good luck to him wherever he moves next, he never gave less than 100% each time he put on a Torquay Utd shirt.

thanks for that Crispy, I was surprised to read Lee's comments on a return to Plainmoor. I'd love to see him back but PB surely needs to shift a few out first if we were to add another sizeable wage to the clubs expenditure.

I think "sizeable wages" are going to be a major problem for Rushden & Diamonds in their efforts to try and move these players on. They appear to have recruited "big name" (at least at this level) players with big salaries in the summer, on the face of it in a totally irresponsible way given the gates they get, and to try and offload these players at this stage of the season and in the current economic climate is going to prove extremely difficult I reckon. They could well be faced with half a squad full of disenchanted players, picking up their inflated wages, and sitting on their contracts whilst not even featuring in Garry Hill's plans. In most instances you would have to say that surely Hill (who brought most of them in) would pay with his job, but given that the "money" behind R&Ds recent spending spree is rumoured to be his own brother Colin - I guess his job is safe! It is not really that surprising the number of clubs in the BSP in particular who are rumoured to be in big difficulties, hopefully we are not one of them - but the much lower gates this season can't be helping matters - and you do wonder how much longer the list is going to grow. Just off the top of my head I can think of Histon, Woking, Salisbury, Kidderminster, Northwich, Oxford, Rushden, Grays and Weymouth who are all rumoured to be in some sort of difficulty. There are also others who have problems with their stadia such as Kettering and Lewes and it is also coming up to crunch time for Ebbsfleet United too as how many of their 30,000 members are going to stump up for another year's subscription, when the reality is that the major attraction of the experiment surely - the ability to pick the team - hasn't happened.

I would love him back. Our only major weakness now is no partner for Sills Up Front. I dont neccesarily think we absolutley need him though and I doubt we will sign him while things are going well, I think he'll go somewhere else but we'll see.

No thanks.
Stuart Beavon would be a much better option if we were bothering. Probably cheaper as well. Powerful and with a better eye for goal.

Another person that I wouldn't want back is Simon Rayner! According to the BBC Crawley match report he was instrumental in their 2 - 0 defeat - dropping a straight forward catch over the line. Must have delighted Mr Evans ;D Generally a good keeper but prone to the odd mistake. We may not have our own keeper, but I think we have generally been served well by Poke and Bevan so far in goal this season.

Unfortunately, that's not the first time that Simon Rayner has made a costly gaffe for them (Crawley) this season either. In fact at the rate he is going, he could probably fill his own goalkeepers bloopers video just in time for Christmas! He made a few like that for us, and in all honesty, I think we made the right decision to let him go in the summer. Of course, Steve Evans went on record at the time of saying that Rayner was the best goalkeeper in the BSP last season .... doubt he will be saying that this morning at training though!

No thanks. Stuart Beavon would be a much better option if we were bothering. Probably cheaper as well. Powerful and with a better eye for goal. Decided to have a look at the last twenty minutes of the Salisbury Crawley match last night. Saw Paul Buckle have his interview and noted his veiled speech as to why he was there! Hopefully, he was having a look at Salisburys right winger, a young lad called Heeney......now he would be a much better option than Phillips!

Not sure about LP. Would i swap him for D'sane or Brough?........then yes. We would need to shift 1 or 2 squad players to accommadate him. On balance then probably i would lean towards a yes. Hopefully Buckle is scouring the bones of the teams in trouble to bring their best players to Plainmoor. It was his failure to fix the gaps in the squad last season that cost us promotion. I hope he has learnt the lesson, but i'm not holding my breath. There are some very good players up for grabs and i would expect Buckle to be in for them. We will see.

That's as maybe, but there is a particularly parlous financial situation world wide which must be infringing on the individual lives of the directors in addition to some pretty poor gates this season. I don't want to sound like Bateson here, but it's easy to spend someone else's money, and if it's not coming in from the turnstiles, projected income's not going to be there from a major sponsor; who's expected to stomp up?

I don't want to sound like Bateson here, but ...... Quite a few of us had noticed the similarity! Merse and Bateson - the glimmer twins.
