So on to another team where a home defeat needs avenging although we were poor that day and deserved nothing. With good wins against Shrewsbury and Bury the team should be full of confidence and look to keep our recent run going. Macclesfield are an alright team doing just enough to stay out of the relegation battle and currently sit in 18th place with 42 points. They have won three of their last six matches but needed an injury time equaliser to draw at home against Lincoln on Tuesday and have not scored more than one goal in their last five matches! Danger man is Tyrone Barnett with 10 goals so far and interestingly was previously scoring goals for fun with Hednesford Town, hitting the net 28 and 26 times in the last two seasons. Nencherif opened the scoring at Plainmoor courtesy of an assist from Senda and is joint second highest scorer along with Daniel on 7 goals. As for Torquay, I think most fans wanted the same team from the Shrewsbury match to start against Bury but in hindsight, this was not horses for courses and Buckle needed to sort it out with Lathrope on for Murray to add that combative element. However, I don't think Macclesfield are that great at the back and certainly don't have such a potent attacking force so personally I would like to see Murray start again. A win could well see us back in the play off spots and set us up nicely for a home game against Cheltenham so hopefully momentum can be maintained!

overall our record is not great against macclesfield over the seasons,a tough place to go and win at.But if we can maintain our good form and take our chances it is very winnable,it really does depend though on which side turns up for us,i wouldnt change much from tuesday night, and just send the lads out to go for it,they will not live with us if we re-produce our second half showing at bury. The season now has only just begun, this is a very crucial game now,one that will tell us lots

Well we wont start with the eleven that finished at Bury due to Lathrope being suspended. So expect the same starting eleven to try again.
With them trying to fight off relegation I reckon we are in for a tense afternoon and wont be a classic. Still, i think we will eek out a scruffy 1-0 with Okane scoring.

Having just looked at the current form tables in the racing post it shows that from the last 8 games Macclesfield have picked up 2 more points than us. So whilst they might be languishing near the bottom of the table, they have been on a decent run lately. So maybe not as easy a game as a quick glance at the table suggests.

I dont think Lathrope is suspended Daz, so may start (not according to the FA anyway).

So whilst they might be languishing near the bottom of the table, they have been on a decent run lately. So maybe not as easy a game as a quick glance at the table suggests. We will need to play better against them than we did at home that’s for sure A few snippets from our match day thread for the home match against Macclesfield Midtable mediocrity here we come! . A couple of other things..........I dont like this 4-4-1-1 at home, we seemed to start with Zeb and Benyon up top for the 1st quarter in a 4-4-2 and we're all over them, wave after wave of attacks - as soon as Zebs went wide and O'kane went into the hole, Macc get back in the game as our threat seems nullified a bit. and our current form is 2 points out of 12 Don't pass up on the first opportunity to hit the panic button then. I would imagine that he has had the same thoughts and that some sort of plan was fermenting in his mind minutes from the final whistle.... Meerkat You can cheer up.......we will not be heading on a downward spiral towards relegation. We do have a number of players who will be starting this game that were not at the club when Macclesfield beat us three one at our ground. I do feel we are a much better side now than we were back then and we certainly have more goals in us. I can see this game going much like the Bury one and we may find ourselves under some early pressure in the game. As long as our defence stays strong and makes no silly mistakes, then I see no reason why we can’t win this game. Will Bucks play two up front? Or go for the 4-4-1-1 he has liked playing away this season that has got results. If he does decide to go 4-4-1-1, then I can see Murray only making the bench with O’Kane starting where he likes to play best in the hole behind the front man. That front man would be Gavin Tomlin as I don’t really think Kee is 100% fit and will surely only make the bench. Jake and Zebs on the wings and I don’t need to name the rest of the line up as I’m sure it will be unchanged from our last match. I would expect Scott to keep his place in goal, could he have done better for their fist goal at our place? Maybe but he would always be my first choice to have in goal for us. A few of their fans on the link below are going for a home win. They are not expecting a very big gate. fansonline.net/macclesfieldtown/mb/view.php?id=59703Moss Rose is not a ground I have been to myself, I was surprised to see the capacity of the ground is only 6335, so not a lot more than ours. A few pictures of the ground and the last one shows why their game in the first week of last month had to be called off. Away Friendly Pubs near Moss Rose Given its location on the outskirts of Macclesfield there is not a huge choice of pubs close to the ground. The Golden Lion, about a 10-minute walk from the away end is about the nearest. It is reportedly warm and friendly, with a mix of home and away fans. Head down Moss Lane behind the away terrace, turn left at the corner of the ground and walk down behind the stand. The pub is on the left. The Albion, on London Road, going towards the town centre from the ground, serves first-class real ales, has a great beer garden and is welcoming towards away fans. The Railway View, on Byrons Lane, has been recommended by several fans, for both the quality of the beers on offer and the friendly welcome. Go past the Albion pub and turn right at the lights, into Byrons Lane. The pub is on the right over the railway bridge. It offers a good range of real ales, including guest beers.

It's eight years ago that I visited Moss Rose, we drew 3-3 that day after being 0-3 up if my memory serves me right. I think this was the first time I met davethegull, who was at Macc with his friends.
A friend of mine visited a game against Rochdale at Moss Rose and while sitting front row opposite Main Stand got soaking wet because of a ball hitting one of the sprinklers which then started to spit water at him in full force. The whole ground was focused on him...
Any win will do!

After two games against two top teams that we won against, playing someone lower in the league worries the hell out of me. especially the form The Silkmen are in!

Interesting article in the back of today's racing post. The guy tips us to win this afternoon and says "the gulls don't seem to fully understand just how good they really are".
He follows up with an interesting, and suprising statistic "Torquay have sloppily chucked away great starts this season, dropping 25 points from winning positions". Way more than I thought and even if we had had clung for just half off them we would be in second now.
At Manchester Piccadilly waiting for a train to Macclesfield. It's dry and overcast at the moment, but a bit chilly well for a southern softy anyway.
Heart says 3 points, head says 1 point but looking forward to it none the less.

After two games against two top teams that we won against, playing someone lower in the league worries the hell out of me. especially the form The Silkmen are in! Come on Aus, bit of positive thinking to help our great manager. Its very normal for most football teams to go and play their very best football and get the required result against a team higher up in the league and then go and lose to a team near the bottom of the table. Why is that? maybe its down to the players mentality, they know they will have to raise their game and personal performance against a team that on paper looks like one they should lost too. I also believe players some how end up believing its going to be easy to beat the team at the bottom of the table as they surely are not as good due to their lowly position in the league table. But that's where the manager has to do his job before he sends the players out onto the pitch. Its his job to get them into the right frame of mind so they can and do try and just forget how good or bad they may feel the other team is. As has been pointed out Macclesfield have done very slightly better than we have points wise in recent games and I'm sure our players will be thinking more about that than the position Macclesfield are in the table. We just need to play the very good passing game we are very good at when we get it right and if we do, then there is no reason we can't get all three points today.
