7 hours of driving to show commitment to the team, sadly they did not return the compliment,we were awful,a proper jeckyl and hide side we are.Aldershot no great shakes either, but scored which really is all that matters.Stanley was outstanding for us,everyone else below average,i think their goalie made one stop of any note, which sums up how good we werent, the substitutions made no difference either,an unacceptable performance really. The ground is out dated, and crumbling but you can feel the history surrounding the place, also the staff and stewards were extremely helpful and freindly, unlike our lot can be sometimes. The most entertaining moment of the evening was when the ball was kicked on the roof of our stand, only to come back down and clunk the lino on the head, even he laughed, which probably sums up what the match was like, dreadful

7 hours of driving to show commitment to the team, sadly they did not return the compliment, It’s when fans make such a big effort to go and give the team support as you did Loyalgull and for some reason the team doesn’t bother to turn up, you wonder why you bothered in the first place. You watched the team in full flow in the second half against Stevenage and I’m sure you expected them to carry on where they left off against Aldershot. If we are honest home fans were due to see the sort of display from the team that many fans at away matches have enjoyed, but why did that not happen last night? You would think that playing as well as they did last Saturday, they would be full of confidence and should have played so much better than it sounds they did. Paul buckle was saying before the match that we need to keep the ball on the floor and play our passing game, but I’m not sure that happened. On the radio all I heard that the ball was so often being pumped up in the air to Zebs, who was flicking the ball onto nobody as we did not have any players close to him. Was that what you saw? I suppose anther question is why did Bucks have Danny more in the middle with O’Kane on the wing, everyone knows O’Kane is best playing behind the one striker if that is the formation we go with.

Got to talk with my customer in Yeovil today who is an Aldershot fan and managed to get to the match.
He was very impressed with the 300 yellow army fans who made the trip on a Tuesday night, so a big well done to all who went to game.
He said it was a very poor game indeed and both sides looked absolutely rubbish on the night. He also said he did not even notice Tim Sills all night and when I asked him if our keeper could have stopped the effort that went in, he said no way what so ever.

During the first 3 minutes of the match the ball & Tim Sills came over to the TUFC corner of the pitch to which there was a spontanious reaction & applause for Sillsy from the Gulls supporters to which he reacted in reply. Apart from one slip, Branners had him in his pocket all night.

I've got one real issue and that is the use of the black away kit for evening games under floodlights. OK it looks neat & smart as did the black away kit for Liverpool at Braga tonight when the tv camara is looking down showing black against the green pitch.
However at Aldershot on a murky night I thought those floodlights we not as good as they should have been with dark patches on the playing area.Looking across the pitch at playing level I'm sure that the top half of players from the shorts up disappear against the background of the stands & pitch side hoardings?
I understand the reason for having an away strip when the 'Yellow' is used at home Sat & Sat with time required to prepare the kit.
I'm sure this contributed to our demise at Cheltenham ......therefore do the players train under floodlights using this black strip.? I don't think so. I believe this maybe the reason for so many passes going astray and abnormal, ineffectual away results. Bring back the BSP white strip............What do you think?

While I do like the black away Kit, I did love last seasons white one much better. I can see your point about wearing it under floodlights that might not be too bright.
Not sure how much a problem it would be and it would be interesting to get a players view on it.

I agree the black kit looks smart (and have one myself), but I'd always rather see us play in yellow if possible.

The ground is out dated, and crumbling but you can feel the history surrounding the place That's fair comment. I guess that, by going bust and leaving the league in 1992, Aldershot missed out on many of the ground improvement grants of the 1990s. Looking back it's quite a story of how the new club spent eleven seasons in the Isthmian League - climbing from Div 3 where they faced the likes of Flackwell Heath, Tring Town and Petersfield United - before passing through the Conference in five years. And, sitting in the seats on Tuesday, you could see how that office block dominates the main stand. There would be a few of us with long enough memories to always consider it as "modern" but it has now loomed over the scene for the best part of forty years:
