Must admit my first impressions of the Ellis sending off was that he was a little unlucky. It was one of those that could have been construed as an accidental trip when he ran across Ellis in that swamp of a pitch and glanced one of his trailing ankles. Their player was always going to make the most of it. I spoke to Marks Dad today who like me is in the Motor Trade and he told me that Mark is adamant that he did not touch the player.

Good work Chris.
I must have been sat right underneath the camera as that is the exact angle I saw the goal from.
Again in real time at the moment it was struck I felt that potter appeared to miss the ball, I do recall it dipping at the end but I was also disappointed that he didn’t get something on it.
What the cameras don't/haven't shown is that there was a bit of an incident just before the goal that appeared to catch some of our guys off balance for a bit.
The goal came from an Accrington throw in, which came from a good firm tackle from Mansell which ended up with the ball in the stand and both players nearly following it. The Accrington left midfield guy, just out of shot, started yelling constantly at the ref, not for a foul but he was shouting ‘He’s not allowed in the stand’ or something like that. We couldn’t understand what he was going on about. Manse shouted something back, a few of our players were looking at him, my eldest missed the goal because she was looking at him, anyway they take a quick throw in and their guy is unmarked and gets his shot off. It’s no excuse but it didn’t help that some of our players appeared to be distracted by it all, possibly why Manse went ballistic??
Ironically, if they hadn’t taken a quick throw in the goal scorer would have been subbed as they were waiting to take him off, in fact it was his last kick of the game.

Gotta agree Dave. It's being described as a wonder goal but looked more like a should have been an easy catch for the keeper. Did potter slip, did the ball come out of the sun or swerve viciously? Didn't look like it to me. Potter has made too many errors recently......time for Big Bevs!! The sending off looked harsh too. From where I was sitting, about 25 yards away, I had a clear/unobstructed view, pretty much like the ref’s and his assistants view. I can see why he was sent off because it looked for all the world like he had clipped him and there was barely a protest from the United players. Yes the guy made a meal of it but I don’t think there has been any complaints from the manager/club??, with the exception of Ellis himself. At the time, without the benefit of a replay etc, I felt it was the right decision and having looked at the replays I haven’t changed my mind.

As far as I remember the incident with Manse started when Lee tried to kick the ball away to stop them taking a quick throw. I said at the time he would do better to get back in position to defend and so it proved !

Manse was where the RB should be when defending a throw from that position. It was Gilligan that was trying to close him down before he shot

DvN, I wasn't necessarily suggesting that Manse should have specifically stopped Craney, more a general feeling that I would have been happier with him quickly back on the pitch organising things etc. Besides I think he was lucky not to have been booked for time-wasting/unsportsmanship or whatever. By the way, I'm a huge fan of Manse !

I see from todays HE that Mark Ellis will only miss one match because of his red card at Accy. Hlow does that work?

I see from todays HE that Mark Ellis will only miss one match because of his red card at Accy. Hlow does that work? Lets hope it is just a one match ban because he played in last nights game against Buckland, not sure the FA would look to favorably at another player being played when he shouldn't. I also couldn't understand it only being a one match ban as it was a straight red. My only thoughts were that a straight red for violent conduct carries a 3 match ban whilst the rest are just one match bans?? I am sure there are some ref's on here who could shed more light on this?
