Oh dear. It all seems to be going distinctly pear shaped. A few people have mentioned the managers body language last night and I know it has been suggested that perhaps Benyon may have been sold against the managers wishes. It does appear that Swindon agreed a deal for Plymouths Joe Mason only for this to fall through at around 6pm when the player himself turned down the move. It does look that Benyon was second choice and the chairman was quoted last week by saying that Buckle did not have to sell any players in the transfer window. The peformance of Ellis last night is very worrying, especially as he has ben excellent. How can he turn into a liability overnight? Did he perhaps expect a move. Whatever it does seem that things are clealy not right behind the scenes and this must be addressed. Whilst more loan players is hardly ideal, this now seems the only option. It is now time for the board to support the manager and make funds available to get in a couple of decent loan signings next week. It is clear that we cannot possibly carry on until the end of the season with what we have at present.

Thanks for the match reports guys! Just like last season, this is going to be a vital time for us Gulls. All is certainly not lost, let's forget about the play-offs and focus on midtable. 8 points off a relegation spot is worrying but we've got games in hand and should be able to make that gap a bit bigger. We've got a team that has shown us they can play very well and is normally a match for every team in our league. It seems confidence has deserted the players big time. That's the difference as I see it. The new lads should fit in nicely, especially when they get used to the players who are already here. We've got a few very talented young players but we have to accept that because of their age they won't perform in every game. It's up to Buckle and the senior players to carry the weight and get us back on track. Keep the faith and... Roll on Stockport! And if we get a points deduction?

It would appear to me from the last few games that the correct train of thought is not being used when analyzing the homework done on opposition teams, we set up wrong against given formations, for example on Saturday they played 3 up top so what did we do? We packed out the midfield so we couldn`t play our usual game and stifled our creative players! Certain formations work against certain formations, and some formations don`t work against others if you get what I mean. We have chosen to go 4-4-1-1 or 4-5-1 against teams who set up perfectly for us to play 4-4-2 or 4-3-3 at home and then we wonder why we can snatch defeat from the jaws of victory, we also sit way too deep when we have 5 in midfield. There was no protection for the back four last night and it is my opinion that we need to sort out the center of midfield and use the correct wingers in front of the full backs, we all know that Nicho can be got at if Zebs ain`t protecting him but with Zebs there Nicho is a fantastic asset. Mark had a mare last night and Guy has got to start to trust his fellow defenders instead of trying to cover for them, he ends up getting caught out of position or getting the way. The new lad in midfield looked absolutely knackered come the second half, I would have subbed him off before removing Mark to see if I could reinforce the centerer of midfield to take a little of the pressure of the centerer backs. One must ask ones self where have the players gone that broke all sorts of defensive records a little while ago, the back line hasn`t changed but midfield has so that is possibly where we need to be focusing. I expect I will be told by some that I don`t know what I`m talking about as usual but just think back through the events of this season and the end of last season, we could defend, we could score goals and we could keep possession, what has changed? Oh and I nearly forgot, doesn`t the pitch look good?

I think you make a lot of sensible points there Aussie. Your grasp of formations could come in useful more quickly than you think. There are rumours that Bucks has offered his resignation & if accepted, they could well look 'in house' for his replacement Here you are 'in action' last Saturday.
