Time to move on and with a number of games against lower place teams we are at a cross roads where a number of wins could see us in the play offs but a series of losses could see us drawn into a relegation struggle. (We are 7 points off the play offs but with games in hand and 8 points from the relegation zone but with four games in hand on the bottom two so only one good run from safety.) Hereford also went out of the FA Cup this weekend, losing to Sheffield Wednesday 4-1, having Joe Heath sent off. Their league form since playing us has been good with home wins against Morecambe and Stockport and an away win (1-0) against Wycombe. Of course, their big striker Manset, who back heeled their equaliser in our previous match has now gone to Reading although Fleetwood is still a threat. As for Torquay, we won't know if any players will go until 11p.m on Monday but the only positive from Saturday is that I can't see too many clubs making huge offers for anyone based on Saturday's performance. Zebroski is suspended so if Benyon does go, we may have no option but to play only one striker but I hope this doesn't happen. Hemmings may well come in on the wing and if Wroe is not 100%, then Oastler could also start. There is no reason as to why we can't win this match and hopefully we can go on and kick start our season to get that buzz back at Plainmoor again. COYY.

I hope that Hereford do suffer the backlash - anything other than a win will start to see real concerns about how things are going - if our first 4 games of the season defeats instead of wins then we would be bottom of the league - that's fairly sobering form...... Will Zebs be suspended for this game or does a suspension earned on a Saturday not count until the following Saturday? Regardless, his display on Saturday would not really be one that we would miss if it was repeated on Tuesday!
Hereford did well on Saturday - it took the Wendies nearly 70 minutes to get themselves in-front but crumbled with 10 men. They will be without Manset who caused us huge problems up there - and hopefully Bauza - a player who I thought had good movement and vision when we played up there a month ago.
Was Wroe injured on Saturday (I know he has a broken toe) or was it just one of his anonymous midfield displays that I expect we have to put-up with until his contract expires in the summer?
While there is still an outside chance of us getting to the play-offs and perhaps a more realistic chance of us scrapping-out the rest of the season to avoid a relegation battle if our recent form isn't shaken-off then perhaps it's time to just grind-out a few results and not try anything too radical. I hope to see Halpin get more game time over the remainder of the season - I think his ability isn't an issue, it is more how he handles the transition from reserve football to League 2. Jordan Charran looked to have some flair and didn't look out of place when I saw in the BSP (against Mansfield?) but just didn't kick-on and is playing Devon and Exeter League level last I heard.
I don't see any departures (or arrivals now) taking place other than perhaps Benyon moving-on. Swindon had an offer accepted by Plymouth for Joe Mason and perhaps they will be prepared to put something to us for Benyon? Maybe it would be better if O'Kane moved-on, I don't think that it really works having him playing in the whole with the rest of the team humping the ball forward to Benyon. O'Kane is a joy to watch at times and will go-on to far better things, but I don't think we know how to best use him.
I'll be there with the other 1,699 or so home fans - in for a penny - in for a pound.

Quick history from 1927-2007 42 managers-5 4th round appearances 2007-2011 1 manager - 2 4th round appearances Not saying he is a good manager or his tactics are right but he obviously must be doing something right that is quite impressive

I think many fans will turn their back on this one in protest at our ineptitude 1500 - 1800 at most. As a season ticket holder I will be doing just that the club still have my money but after having my heart ripped out this weekend they aint having any more. Treating it just like another game my arse it was the most important in the clubs history!! Personally I think the tie was taken far to lightly in every respect - no investment in the squad whatsoever and a somewhat weaker squad than we had a couple of months ago . Now that doesn't instill me with any confidence in those that are meant to be forward thinking. Dream on if you think we are going to make the playoffs and if we did somehow fluke some results wed get stiffed out of site - probably by Oxford! We are owed an apology at least Ive invested 45 years of emotional ups and downs only to see us surrender so meekly to a cheating scum bag of a management team , with Raynor in particular winding us up from the off. This result and subsequent fifth round draw along with ridiculous ticketing and aggressive stewarding has taken its toll I'm afraid.

I respect your postings Pete (and particularly your non-attendance on Tuesday - I certainly don't blame anyone who stays-away!) but I just don't think that there is any room in the playing budget. On the contrary, I think that bringing-in any new players to extend the cup run would have been folly and a real gamble for the wellbeing of our club (I wouldn't have expected it to make a difference anyway such was the dismal team display). I expect that we will see a further reduction in the size of the squad that has already seen the departure of Senda, Gritton, Carlisle, Rose and anyone else that I have forgotten and probably a cancellation of the Grandstand project.
I do think that "treating the game as any other" was meant to take the pressure off of the players. It obviously didn't make any difference but I could see where they were coming from.
Crawley get the rewards in the draw today and it is very, very hard to stomach and I can only hope that the very worst happens for them. That said, we have to keep moving and looking forward and not to get distracted by what has been a very bad weekend for the club. We have come-through worse times in the last few years (no-one needs reminding of the sad loss of Paul Bristow over the summer and of course the roberts era) and despite the set-back we will live to fight again. I just think that gambling on strengthening the squad was no guaruntee of any sort of success. I just think that Crawley hold the "Indian Sign" over us (in the same way Boston frustrated us - and Ebbesfleet too) and it is one of those things - Derby and Swindon have far better players than us and they came a cropper as well.
Whilst I believe that the Board are going way past what we could have expected, but I think that what is on offer for £18 and £16 a go is fairly pricey - especially in terms of what we have historically paid. I think that there is a breaking point as to what the floaters are prepared to pay and I think we might just have hit it. We should remember that last season there were a good 1000 or so season ticket holders that paid £200 - I think that given our crowds haven't deteriorated too dramatically is all the more remarkable when you take that into account.
The cup run may have netted us a good £150k this season - (maybe more) but this has more or less gone into a fairly large shortfall in funding - particularly as Colin Lee supposedly was entitled to a six figure pay-off.
Mandi, I agree. You can't argue with the facts, Bucks has got a remarkable cup record with a club with two of the four cup runs coming as a BSP club. I do however think that there is a growing level of dissatisfaction with the home performances and that that coupled with the cost of attending is being manifested in poor crowds. It is a real shame because with two strikers we went right at Crewe and gave one of the best 45 minutes of football I have seen at Plainmoor in many a year - it's a shame we don't often take that approach......

The squad does need improving and a big forward like McAllistair is required. If Benyon does go it will leave us with just Kee and Zebs. We were lucky last year with Benners and Rendell (he was in the Gulls Nest after the game yesterday) that neither got injured or suspended.
I guess all will be revealed tomorrow.

Still really pissed off with how the weekend went but will be there although hardly feel like going.
Of course with how results have gone and the fifth round draw the club has also lost thousands of pounds on tomorrow nights crap attendance.
If we had beaten Crawley or even drawn with them and then been drawn away to Man U the club would have had to issue out vouchers and probably about a 4000 crowd.
However having been defeated by Crawley the club can now look forward to a 1500 odd gate and some of those fans who came saturday will not return this season.

Well I'm not there tomorrow evening but it is not due to post-FA Cup desertion but merely a work appointment in Cornwall that will mean I won't be finished in time to go. A pity as I have a couple of friends living locally who support Hereford and will be going, and I am confident that 'bragging rights' will be mine after the game. I am expecting a storming performance from Torquay United. The manager and players have pride. They know they didn't perform on Saturday and I am sure they will bust a gut to put it right. Despite the understandable doom and gloom we have still got something to play for. Let's go for it, and then all meet up at Old Trafford for the Play-Off final!!

Of course Saturday was a disappointment, but I'll be surprised if the team don't put in a performance to make us proud and half-redeem themselves. That's what the team is about, isn't it?
Or will we be playing a 7-3-0 formation...?

I’m going to have to wrap up very warm for this game as I was forced back to work far to quickly and am still suffering and if anything going backwards. It is going to be a very cold night up at Plainmoor and the fear is there won’t be many of us up there.
It goes without saying we all love the club and when it goes and hurts us like it has, we may feel we want no further part of it, or not give it the chance to hurt us again. We go to Plainmoor because we love the game and want to support our local club, not everyone loves the game and not everyone wants to spend their leisure time in the same way we choose to do. I have never felt it was right or justified to attack people who happen to have a football club where they live, because they choose not to go and spend their time and money there.
Nor do I feel its right to attack any that have been fans of the club, but choose to do other things instead, no one has a contract with the club that they must go to games at Plainmoor and therefore are always free to exercise their right of choice.
Many fans might just exercise that right tomorrow night and if they do they should not be made to feel guilty, or made to feel they are letting the club down. The thing is it has been hard for so many to keep finding the money for all the recent games and once again we have another three games in eight days. But it may not just be about money and maybe to do with how the FA Cup result and more importantly the match itself has made them feel right now.
We could all spend our lives going on about what might have been, but it won’t change what happened and it sure won’t bring it back, we got to the 4th round of the FA Cup and that itself was a great achievement but failed to get to the 5th round.
Paul Buckle, our players and the club wanted us too, make no mistake about that, but as I said yesterday something’s are not meant to be and that was the case I’m afraid.
Whose’ football club is it? It’s the fans who really own the club and the owners are no more than custodians of it , they just happened to put large sums of their own money into so the fans still had their club.
We all have a choice here, we can show the club how hurt we are by staying away tomorrow night, or we can show the club how much it really means to us by going to the game. I’m as hurt and as devastated by the events of the weekend as much as any other TUFC fan, but in the grand scheme of life, losing a 4th round FA Cup game is not the end of the world.
To be honest as I have to be up at 4.45am tomorrow and then drive some 350 miles and not feeling to well and not wanting to let myself get too run down, I was considering coming home from work tomorrow and staying in the warm for the evening.
But I’m not going to do that and I’ll get home and have a hot meal and then a bath, put on loads of layers of clothes and get up to Plainmoor as I want to make a statement that the club means more to me than an FA Cup defeat. I would hope other fans will want to make the same statement to our club.
I’m not sure I’m always going to choose Plainmoor over other things I might want to do on a match day and as I have said I believe some storm clouds are forming over head and I may have to pull my belt in tight. That will always be my choice, but I know our club needs to know we are not going to just walk away and stop going all together because of what has happened and what a great opportunity tomorrows night game will be to let them know we are still here.
