The twohundredpercent site, particularly the clubs in crisis section, is essential reading for anyone with an interest in the "business" side of football with well-researched and well-written articles on what is really going on at Mansfield, Wrexham, Weymouth, Chester, Plymouth, etc, etc. I didn't really bother with this side of the game until the Roberts era - since when I have tended to keep my ear closer to the ground. Anyone who genuinely believes that a Chairman who runs a club within its means and tends to put his foot in it PR-wise is the worst thing that could possibly happen to a football club would be well-advised to read and learn. The twohundredpercent Crawley piece focuses on confirming what we already know - that Evans is a crook and a fraudster. I am prepared to accept the assurances of our Crawley guests that Bruce is a decent and genuine guy, but his reputation will inevitably be tarred by association with the crook / fraudster Evans. It does surprise me that Bruce either hasn't twigged this or doesn't care. If Crawley win promotion to the league, they will not receive the acclamation that they deserve - people will assume that they have cheated as they are managed by a cheat. |

Having looked at all the threads relating to the Crawley match I think something has gotten lost, and that is, Steve Evans is not such a bad manager! Yes, he was caught with his hands in the till (though he wasn’t found guilty of any crime), but who amongst wouldn’t do the same given the chance...particularly during these difficult financial times. I myself have spent time at Her Majesty’s pleasure. Does that make me some sort of shit like everyone thinks Evans is?
Back to his management prowess though, I remember the last time we played Crawley at plainmoor and the reception he received from our fans. I think we were one nil down at half time and as he was walking off for the break and getting the usual stick he turned to the crowd and smiled saying “ you’re still going to lose! “ Which we did.
After ten minutes of the game on Saturday he will have figured out Buckles game plan...to be honest a blind person on crack could figure out Buckles game plan...boot the ball in the general direction of our lone striker Benyon!
So let’s give Evans some sort of credit on Saturday and let’s also hope we have a plan B

You really should read the whole article, but here is an extract: The trial of Steve Evans, Pat Malkinson, et al, meanwhile, reached trial at Southwark Court in September 2006. The court heard evidence regarding the contracts from Ken Charlery, and the total amount that had been creamed off by the club through fraudulently failing to pay tax and national insurance contributions on the wages of Boston’s players was confirmed at £245,188. While two of the other defendants were acquitted by the judge and one more had his case thrown out, though, Malkinson and Evans changed their pleas to guilty at the last minute. Malkinson was given a two year prison sentence, suspended for two years and ordered to pay back the money that the club owed in tax plus just over £100,000 in interest. Evans received a one year suspended sentence. |

Well, Crawley have their midweek game out of the way. A comfortable 3-0 win at home against Cambridge United. And a very healthy gate for a midweek game: 3,241.
They'll be coming to Plainmoor in full confidence but we've got a good record under Paul Buckle in the FA Cup and I trust him to get our boys fired up and get a good result!

They are a good side but really their players are non league players for a reason. They don't have a team full of players that League 1 sides want to sign. It is complete hype and bullshit. That maybe the case but this is an FA Cup match and as we know cup games are always considered to be great levelers. I think we would be very foolish to start thinking that as our players are now proven league two players, we will win just because of that fact. For me the key to winning this game is starting it as he did the Crewe match, get Zebs Danny, O'Kane running at them from the very start and try and keep them pushed back in their own half. When we lose the ball go and hassle it back of them by closing them down as soon as they have the ball at their feet. To win the game we have to earn the right too and not just think because we are the league team, its going to be a stroll in the park. |

PB will get the right reaction on saturday for sure,history shows we are very capable of capitulating against teams in lower divisions than ours.Its going to be a cracker,tinged with lots of anxiety and tension,all round.Both clubs have done well whatever the outcome,i just pray to him above that it is us that goes through.Lets hope we dont get the normal stinker of a referee who goes out to grab the headlines with crazy decisions,unless there in our favour of course.I wonder when we will find out if PB faces a touchline ban or not on saturday?

He will find out tomorrow if he is going to be charged or not by the FA and if he pleads guilty he will be banned from the dugout for this match. He may well decide to appeal as then the ban would not come into effect until after a hearing. This would then mean he would be able to be in the dugout for the match where he would want to be. I'm sure that is the action he may well take if he is charged. |

Don't you think they play on their reputation? Of course, they ham it up and then use it to their advantage.
