It wasn't on sale at the excellent Tuckers Maltings Beer Festival yesterday ... although I did have a half of one of Phil's favourites Devon Dumpling. What I want to know after seeing all these photos of pies and assorted surrounding foodstuff is .... how the hell does Phil stay so slim? It's a constant struggle Stef! They serve the Dumpling with the sparkler (for me) and gives that nicy creamy head, mmmmmmmm. you slim lol. like standing between two Eddie Larges with you and Job

Excellent Steak and Boozy Ale Pie eaten last night at the Devon Dumpling, accompanied by new potatoes and a medley of peas, carrots and cauliflower topped with rich gravy. Washed down with a couple of pints of DD.
Would go so far as to say the best pie and drink combo in the bay!
There was this cream on first yob in the corner who insisted on having chips with his pie and gravy.

Washed down with a couple of pints of DD. It no longer surprises me that people go for new potatoes rather then chips. Last time I went up the Dump, there was a bloke in there asking if he could have peas instead of broccoli. Unbelievable, but true.

My Mrs was up the dumpling last night - had venison, New potatoes, broccoli, carrots and cauliflower. All very nice apart from the gravy which she said tasted like liver which was unexpected....

Sounds more like a restaurant now. Do they still actually serve beer? (I mean 'proper' beer not retro Double Diamond! Is it a cosmopolitan menu? ie .... Spaghetti alle vongole, stinco di maiale .... or is it all that fattening English stuff?

Plenty of ales for supping - Devon Dumpling, Jail Ale, Doom Bar, Otter Bitter and Courage Best. Think we should have a TFF night out there after a match. I'll have a word with the guvnor to ensure Steak Pie is on the menu!

I mean 'proper' beer not retro Double Diamond! I think Chelston may have confused you by referring to Devon Dumpling as DD. Devon Dumpling is not only a proper beer, but a local proper beer - made by Bays in Paignton. At the risk of disagreeing with Val, even better than a nice pint of Doom Bar.

Am so easily confused these days! Yes I know Devon Dumpling and sampled a half at the Tuckers Maltings Beer Festival last month. Chelston reported on Doom and Jail also being available so it sounds like a fine selection at the pub. Just a pity about that smell of food!

Very pleasant Steak and Tanglefoot pie with mash and seasonal vegetables (including broccoli), washed down with a couple of pints of Badger's First Call at the Barn Owl on Friday.
Nice walk home through Coffinswell and saw a couple of badgers and a deer on the way.

Excellent Steak and Ale Pie up the Dumpling last Friday with new potatoes, carrots, cauliflower and peas. Washed down with a couple of pints of Devon Dumpling. Sounds good! My Mrs was also out there last Friday with a friend. She had the sea bream which went down well - like proper home cooked food. Also, partaked in a Devon Dumpling and some wine - at which point she tried to pass herself off as a Spanish speaking ex nun!!!!
