We need a volunteer to sample a Barnet pie and report back here please! A bit like a match report about pies! Pie was rank actually, and the reason why I seldom bother. It was near-ubiquitous 'Pukka Pie', which are to pies what Pot Noodles are to Asian Cuisine. The ratings:Presentation – 1/10. Everyone knows a pukka pie is produced in a factory rather than a bakery, but serving it with the cellophane wrapper still on is just plain skanky. Taste – 2/10. Blisteringly hot, even after 10 minutes in the open on a winter's day. Meaty gloop, with unpleasant gristly bits. Pastry – 2/10. Like cardboard. Overall verdict – 2/10. Made me pine for the New Lawn!

Being a Lancashire lad (Hey Up!) I used to enjoy the local pies made by Hollands at Baxenden. They had Meat, Meat n Potato, Cheese n Onion, and Puddings which were made of softer pastry and you could eat upside down on your plate. Add a pile of Mushy Peas or gravy and yum! You can still get them down here. I think the cash n carry Bookers still sells em to the shops.

Was all set to do another pie report from the Rec, Aus.....when it was found that - shockingly - Aldershot do not sell pies! Whether this is something specific to the away end, or whether they have a secret stash under the counter, which requires a nod and a wink in the same way that certain items do from certain South London greengrocers, I don't know. But I didn't see any on the menu or in a hot cabinet, and I wasn't prepared to queue to have this confirmed. Terrible if true though. I would have thought a points deduction would be in order at the very least.

They are going to be rock bottom of the pie league come the end of the season. No pies, what ever next, hippy food perhaps, nah we already covered that one!

Aussie you did say how wonderful the steak and ale pies were at Plainmoor. Sorry but I don't agree with you mate. Ant and I needed to get our own tea on a recent Tuesday night game.
Ant wanted to go to a fish and chip shop on the way home, but as I have been up since 4.45am and only eaten only a small packed lunch all day, I said lets get some food at the ground.
In very early and no steak and kidney pies and only steak and ale pies. Had one of those with chips and did not enjoy it very much at all. I do love the steak and kidney pies in the ground, just a shame they have shrunk so much and yet still cost the same.

I hope to be a Plainmoor in the next couple of weeks and I will be making my way with interest to the buffet counter at half time to see what's on offer. Dave has added a dose of scepticism to Aussie's ringing endoresement of Plainmoor's pastry-based comestibles..........but I will make my order with an open mind, even though I think I will be giving the Steak and Ale pie a miss

Not to my knowledge Lambie, but he does look like he enjoys a pie or two or three Got me thinking now, who was the players who was claimed did eat all the pies at Plainmoor? blow if I can remember.
