I was thinking about my first ever Torquay game I went to and after asking my dad he told me and here it is:
My first Torquay match was when I was only a few days old.
On 2nd October 1990 I was only 4days old when my dad taken me to watch the mighty gulls win 1-0 at home to Doncaster Rovers. My dad was and still is a Manchester City fan (seeing as he`s from Warrington) and moved down here 5 months before I was born. To be honest I dont remember much about the match but I must thank my dad for taking me or I would never support my local side.
I have had some great memories of watching and supporting Torquay United (and some lows) but never will I not support the team. When my dad taken me to watch Torquay for the first time that was the day when I became a Torquay fan.
That season we finished 7th and my dad told me that we we scored against Doncaster he almost let go of me when he jumped out of his seat, but managed to keep hold of me.
The longest I have ever been without watching the gulls is 4 long year when I lived up in Manchester. Practically all my friends and family supported Manchester City, but I stood firm by Torquay United and finally when I was 8 came back to live in Torquay.
Everytime I go back to Manchester on holidays my friends always ask how Torquay are getting on and even sometimes say "That was a good result for you at the weekend Joe". So even other clubs supporters taken interest in Torquay.
When was your first match and do you have any fond memories of the gulls.

Although my Mother says she took me in the 70's she/i can't remember when. And i do recall games in 81 and 82 but the first game i remember and have memories of was the FA Cup Third Round Replay v Oxford United... how the mighty, huh - at Plainmoor. We won and got drawn against Sheffield Wed in the next round. I do remember joining all the others invading the pitch.
My first TUFC away games was at the vetch for the Littlewoods Cup 1st Round 2nd Leg, we drew and went thru to meet Spurs. Cyril Knowles was irreplacable and unique as i'm sure you will agree.
I started working in the PA Room with Pete Wiley and Freg jago in 87 and didnt stop working there til 2002 and only missed about 5 home games so god knows just how many times i have seen TUFC

After following the Gulls via Ceefax in the early 90's and internet in the late 90's the Barnet away game in 2001 was my first TUFC match I attended. Left home around 7a.m. in the morning to arrive at Underhill around noon. Queueing up outside near the South Stand and a big relief when I finally got in.
What I remember is the fantastic atmosphere among the crowd that day!
After the final whistle bot sets of fans spilled onto the pitch. It was very strange to see one half of the pitch filled with people cheering and crying of joy and on the other half of the pitch there were the Barnet fans looking very sad and some crying as if it was the end of the world. Something I witnessed and experienced myself in may 2007 on the Plainmoor pitch...
This trip originally cost me around £100, thanks to the Belgium police this amound was doubled. Got caught in Antwerpen for breaking the maximum speedlimit...

Your first match was at four DAYS old? Okay... My first game was a 2-1 win away at Exeter City on Boxing Day 1994. I was 12-years-old and hooked for life. My first Plainmoor experience was a few days later, a 1-0 win over Preston at Plainmoor. I've still got the programme somewhere, I believe Darren "Brick Wall" Moore is on the cover. It's covered in autographs so I've always treasured it. If I get time later, I'll fish it out and try and work out who signed it. If I get more time, I'll scan it in and post a pic! Also, if I remember rightly, a certain Mr. Beckham turned out for North End that day.

Not very clear for me (I have no long-term memory - does that mean I'm dementia-negative?), but I guess it was around '81 with my mate and his Dad. We went in popside whilst his Dad stood in front of the old Grandstand. Always stood just in front of a set of bars (to avoid crush injuries) half-way up in the middle of the covered section. No games have etched themselves into my memory until Bryn bit Jim (still brings a little tear to my eyes) and then Coventry away in the FA Cup the year after. Pisspoor of me really. I can't even remember the Kiddy match this season!

Joe I have searched my memory all day and can't remember who we played on my first visit to Plainmoor. It was a Saturday game and up until the Friday night before, I knew nothing Of TUFC. In my later primary school days, most Of the boys were Leeds fans and only followed the big teams etc. I was just 10 years old, when on the morning Of my first game, I was In the woods with three Of my mates, who came up with the Idea Of going to Torquay To watch a game. We told Our mothers we were going to go up to the centrax field to play football. Instead we went into town and got on one Of the football specials. I think there was two Or even three that went from Newton Abbot. I also believe one went from Brixham and one from Paignton. Red Devon General double decker buses, they stopped outside the shops at Plainmoor. I know the crowd was very big and I had a great day and was hooked. One thing that sticks In my mind from my first game, was the blue disabled cars parked near the pitch, you may not know what they look like so here Is a picture. After the game, back onto the bus to Newton Abbot, once we were near home, we got our clothes dirty, so It looked like we had been playing football. Got a smack around the ear for getting so dirty, but not to worry, Sunday was bath day, The only bath you got all week. My problem was I was the youngest, so by the time I got In the bath, the water was black ;D

10-10-1979 as a slightly late 7th birthday treat to watch Torquay v Portsmouth, and Portsmouth have always been my 'second' team as well because of it. Think TUFC won 2-1 but it's all a bit cloudy in my memory to be honest.

Just to say I am from Torquay and not Manchester. I`m the only one in my family from Torquay, the rest are all Northeners and Irish, so I thought I`d be a little different and stick to where I come from.

Fastest ever own goal Pat Kruse and second og from Phil Sandercock and good old Willie Brown got 2 back in the second half. We've never done anything the easy way
