Well played, you deserved it. We were tragic at best, this is going to cost me! I have to now work out what I owe and to whom!

So the series ends with a consolation win for the Aussies to give Michael Clarke a fitting send off!
Really weird though in that a 3-2 result indicates a closely fought series but individually the matches were very one sided. When Australia batted first and got enough on the board to put pressure on then they looked world beaters. However when they failed twice then it gave England a decisive advantage and coupled with the Cardiff match where England got off to a confidence boosting head start was enough to wrest control of the urn.
No draws and no fifth days!

I know it is not the Ashes but cannot believe Cook did not enforce the follow on! 1-0 down in this series and if we don't win this one then questions will be asked!

He's being lauded as a genius now - at least by the shareholders of the cricket ground... Wish Jimmy had got the last one! Want to adopt Joseph Edward Root off his dad.

Nice to see us win the series earlier today in Sri Lanka and the quality of players coming through is very exciting and think we will be up there as one of the best teams in the next few years.

It’s back again and a seesaw day for both teams with England missing the injured Anderson after just 4 overs which saw the tourists recover from 140 odd for eight to double their score with Smith hitting a big century. In hindsight Anderson over Archer was the wrong decision and unless we score big in the first innings may see us lose the first test at what is traditionally a good venue for us.

I see Joe Root was being slaughtered by all and sundry, on the BBC feed today. I'm no expert on cricket tactics, but by the sound of it nor is he, which is worrying from the captain of England. From having Australia at 122 for 8, we failed to get the last 2 wickets, until they got to 284. Good old England. Back to the sorry standard we've endured for years! This sounds remarkably like your post during the early stages of the World Cup, Flo. Let’s hope it does the trick again.
