True Dave..but has buckle got what it takes to rectify his mistakes...as it seems to me that he makes the same mistakes over and over again.

Well that is what we will have to wait and see, he has the chance to put things right, he is well aware of the mistakes, If he is to become a good manager he will need to show he can come through this.
Learning from mistakes, can only happen, if you admit it was a mistake in the first place, like I said Jim we do not need to rush into anything just yet, it has been pointed out we are not that far off the leaders. There may well come a time when it really did become clear, he could not turn it around.
He has made some mistakes, maybe he should be given some time to see If he can put them right.

Maybe he should be given some time Dave, but then again as we supporters are constantly kept in the dark, how are we supposed to know whether he is trying to put them right or not? Just because Merse et al says buckle is doing what is best are we expected to just think "oh well thats ok then"? I need some hard evidence and I havn't seen any yet.

I think the players we have here are all good players and believe if a few changes could be made, to address the positions that we know we have a problem In, then I see no reason why things can't improve.
I do not have a crystal ball, what I do have is something I have had to find heaps of lately in my life and that Is hope. What else do you have If you just give it up, I will tell you, nothing at all.
Lets see If there Is any news in the next few days or so, If there is, then that would be a sign that action was being taken, I have some time, surly you do Jim.

We all have time Dave...even buckle has had since christmas to try and put things right...is that not enough time? If dsane and brough are now deemed not good enough after only just being signed then it doesnt bode too well that buckle will get it right with his next signings..or even if he does then who is to say that he will play them in thier correct posistions?
Sorry if i sound negative but I am having a bad time and maybe whinging on here a bit helps.

Can we though establish something here?.....................that a signing of a player doesn't workout for any particular reason or another, doesn't necessarily mean that the manager "made a mistake" (it may mean the player made a mistake) rather that the player showed an inability to (maybe) to buy in to the work ethic/team spirit/fitness ethos of the incumbent squad. It may be that the player has tried his best but just not achieved the level to which he had previously performed - sometimes through no other reason than he has had to alter his style of play through losing a certain element of his "armoury" through failing fitness. Surely the position of Brough and Dsane being made available for loan is no different than that of Iyseden Christie who's much vaunted move to Stevenage from Kidderminster in the summer has not worked out so that now he finds himself on loan at Kettering until mid January. Are people at Stevenage harassing their manager over this?

The problem is Merse, that has we have not got the results that we all felt we would, Buckle will get blamed for every decision taken. Top of the table then say the two players were going out on loan and nobody would care, or look to hard for a reason.
Buckle will now be questioned as to why he signed those players, simply because It adds fuel to those who are looking for the club to remove him now. lets hope he does turn things around, I wonder how long it would take then for them to be singing Paul Buckles Yellow Army.

Have the club sent the boys round?
You appear to have made quite an about turn on your attitude to the point of an accusing finger at the fickleness of fans.
I`ve not posted for quite some time through being at a complete loss as to what to make of all that has gone on since Christmas.
I`m not connected like some, am not privy to gossip, see wild speculation as pointless and fortunately or unfortunately, depending on how you view it, watched only one game so far.
So the only means I have to pick up on whats going on is to access the forums, and various websites.
So hows this for a poser for everyone to chew over.
Does it feel worse supporting the Gulls now we have access to so much information? Would the current situation have been more bearable back in the days of an article in the Herald on Friday night and chatting to a few fans at work, on match day or down the pub?

Would the current situation have been more bearable back in the days of an article in the Herald on Friday night and chatting to a few fans at work, on match day or down the pub? Much as I have known and respected Dave Thomas for over thirty years, don't you think he sits on the fence these days? I think all this started in the days of the Batesons with their overbearing "leaning" on the HE to "toe the line" or face the consequences. I appreciate a "club reporter" has to keep his conduits of inside information impeccable or face being ostracised and therefore "out of the loop". In order to do so DT will not write anything these days that is in the least bit controversial, yet the paper shamefully allows any old fruit loop to post the most outrageous rubbish under any old identity in their "readers' comments" facility on the website without any seeming moderation whatsoever. Then out of the blue there was some rather comical and heavy handed removal of posts last week.......................now why would that have been? To answer your question, I feel a responsible site such as this is pretty reasonable as entertainment because the "chief"of the site allows contributors to exercise their own moderation, whilst we all saw what happened to the other site once it "changed hands", but I don't think there would have been a fraction of the unrest and dissent there has been of late in pre-web days!

Do you think a case of "ignorance is bliss" or a sign of the times?
I`ve seen some shocking performances over the years from `players` wearing a Utd shirt, like we all have I`m sure. I seem to recall seeing Eddie Kelly trudging around Burnden Park looking hung over and a shadow of his former self. Yet these, unless my memory fails me, did not warrent the vitriolic venting that appears to have been going on of late.
"managers name...out" or "sack the board" another good one was "you don`t know what your doing". was about as bad as it got.
Back in the 70`s & 80`s most of the fans attention was aimed at the opposition fans. Perhaps the "nice family package of football" has led to the focus of this aggression being switched internally to the players, manager and owners.

A sign of the times is the appalling immaturity and lack of good grace so many show when they have the privilege of access to the world at large. Now any old Joe Soap can be a pundit and so many of them show just what terrible journalists they'd have made and they wouldn't have lasted 5 minutes "in the job" Another downward trend is the refusal to acknowledge that in all sport there have to be winners and losers and that "your" team is being equally opposed by "their" team to gain the ascendancy, so they take all set backs as a personal sleight. The majority of these prigs wouldn't hack it in professional sport nor many of them in any competition at all. When I'm watching my son play (at the age of 7) I am appalled at the behaviour I observe on the sidelines from some parents..................celebrating as if their son has scored the winning goal in the World Cup Final, petulant sulking when he makes mistakes. It's all part of the "must be a winner or you're trash" mentality. I know people regard me as aloof, but I always choose to stand away from such folk and observe my boy without showing emotion, pleasure or displeasure. Inscrutability can be a wonderful weapon in the face of intrusion.

Hi Buster, nice to see you posting, so don't stay away so long next time ;D ;D
To answer your question, have the boys been around.
The forum name Torquay Fans Forum was chosen for a very good reason and I made sure it did not contain the words Torquay United.
The only connection with the club, Is that this forums members are fans of the club.As a fan and the person who runs the forum, I would prefer that there was no bad feelings from the club toward the forum, but know I can't guarantee that would always be the case.
You see young Mr Higgins Is a decent young man, but Its my view he made a grave error, trying to get .net far too close to the club, as soon as they saw anything they did not like, they let him know. I do believe he was spoken to in a manner that should not have happened and I did feel for him at that time.
I started a thread that nearly got me banned, asking who runs .net? because I believed the club had no right to dictate to his forum. So the answer is no, the boys have not been around and as long as I'm happy with the posts the members make on the forum, they will always remain on it.
I said I felt Buckle made a bit of a pigs ear of It against City, I said I do not understand his signings, I said I have felt he has made mistakes, trying experiments when he should have had everything sorted out, in the pre season. Those views have not changed, I have not retracted any of those posts I have made.
I have had time to think about things and I also was given some Information. Asking myself was I still a supporter first and foremost and weighing up what I have been told, I took some more time to think things through.
All I have said Is that because of what I have been told, I think we should wait and see what happens over the next few weeks or so, no need just yet to be screaming for Buckle head. Football is very fickle at times and you and I both know a manager can be a hero one second and a villain the next. I respect all the views made on here and I want the members to keep making their views known.
I said on here to Dave Shaw, there could come a time when I stood next to him calling for changes to be made by the club. I hope that does not need to happen, but unlike some, I'm prepared to give the manager more time to sort things out and start getting results.
These are Dave's own words, he is not tied up with a hot poker close to his manhood

So, all it takes is for a vociferous few to regularly post their views on the internet and these views become adopted by the many. It is a natural state of affairs for people who are "anti" to be more likely to make their views known than people who are happier with the way of things. Therefore, in this age of the internet the general mood of the fans is much darker than it may have been previously.
