Are we really in a relegation battle in the conference? I cant believe it but it sure feels like we are to me at this moment in time.

Jim I know that is how it feels, but a win tonight might have just given us the kick start we needed.it did not happen, so we move on to Sundays game and hope that will be the game to get us on our way.
Leroy said that after 10 games we would see where we are going, so our 12 games look generous.

As things stand, we certainly arent good enough to challenge at the top of the table and I cant see that changing under the present regime.
As for a relegation battle, I really dont know. We certainly dont look like much of a "team" at the moment and there are a whole load of sides in this division who will battle all the way. History tells us that there have been plenty of teams who were "too good to go down" who eventually did!

Fair point crispy but what would you expect a new manager to be able to do? he will have the same players, do you think its down to tactics, or the players not responding to their manager?

Fair point crispy but what would you expect a new manager to be able to do? he will have the same players, do you think its down to tactics, or the players not responding to their manager? I'm just not sure that Bucks is getting the best out of the squad at the moment. A new Manager wouldnt have any "favourites" and nobody would be guaranteed a place in the squad - there are still a few it seems that are under Bucks. The ability to change things around when they arent working is what football management is all about. Unfortunately at the moment I dont think Bucks has that quality. He is still learning and without an experienced hand to guide him - Colin Lee is either not wanted or isnt prepared to do it, depending what you believe - he is floundering in this side of management at the moment. We just seemed to lack pace, energy and the ability to go past people tonight. There was very little in the way of running from midfield, bar a couple of attempts by Carlisle in the first half and Carayol in the second ... but that was it. The difference on the night was that Kiddie, who were no great shakes themselves lets be honest, did the one thing that we were incapable of doing (and its pretty much been the same story all season) - they had a winger who had the pace and the desire to get past his full back and put an inviting cross in, right on the button. Oh how Messrs Sills and Dsane (Green and Benyon as well come to that) must wish they had someone capable of doing that for us (we may have that in the squad of course, but at the moment it just isnt happening).

crispy you mention Colin lee, well we are all aware about Ann's letter, but we do not know If there really was a bust up between Buckle and lee. Should not someone at the club, now take the decision that Lee now has to get involved with the playing side of the club.
I know Merse will go on about the manager has to be the manager etc, but Lee has the knowledge and experience to help sort out the problems. Why when we have this at the club can't it be used?, If its Buckles pride at stake, would he rather lose his job.
With help from lee, he stands a chance of turning thinks around, unless Lee Doe's not want to help as he would be happy to see him go, who knows, but I really would hope that was not the case, just maybe Buckles pride standing in the way.

Dave, who knows what the situation is with Colin Lee and Paul Buckle .... but I tell you what one thing I will say is that I reckon if Mike Bateson was still the man in charge of this football club .... when looking at the league table tomorrow ... he would be taking action.
Unfortunately, as we as a club know from past experience, when the likes of Neil Warnock, Colin Lee and Ian Atkins have been brought in to help struggling Managers in the past - it has always ended up with said Manager losing his job. The difference here being is that Colin Lee is ALREADY in situe at the club - and presumably doesnt wnat Buckle's job! Lets face it he (Lee) has more experience at a higher level (bar perhaps Brian Little) than ANY other Manager in this league and he is working for our club - surely it makes sense to use that experience in what is fast becoming something of a crisis at our club.
I have to ask myself, where was Colin tonight? I presume he was at the match, if so why isnt he stood next to Buckle HELPING him! I understand he (Lee) has his corporate/matchday responsibilities when we are at home, but surely when we are away from home, it makes sense for Colin to be involved!

No Colin would not want Buckles job, why should he when he has a much better job at the club and does not stand to get judged in the same way Buckle has too. Bateson would have now taken action, so we can only hope that for the good of the club and team, our chairman takes some action.
With things the way they are going, the club will find it could end up going down a very slipper slope, no results and gates will continue to fall. I have always said that once fans break the habit, its hard to get them to come back. The feel good factor of having a new board last season, has ended.
Now things need to be sorted and fast, if not gates of under a 1000 will once again return to Plainmoor, If the club feel they will always have a hardcore of 2300, then they will find out the hard way, that they are wrong.

Sorry boys but since when did anything "Bateson did" become any kind of noddy guide to running a football club. Poor excuse for sacking a manager because it's what MB would have done. Now who's fault is it we are where we are at the moment.....erm....who sold the club to Rob"""s.....oh thats right..Bateson !

Im not saying that it is, I'm just saying that there are plenty of football club owners (Bateson was just an example) whose patience with Paul Buckle would have run out already .... its that time of the season again ... witness Keegan (Newcastle), Curbishley (West Ham) and Grant (Woking). Personally I think Paul Buckle will still be in charge for a good while yet, but he needs a win on Sunday like nothing else - and even if he gets that, our fixtures over the next few weeks still look pretty daunting to me. He (Buckle) needs to turn things around pretty quickly, otherwise I dont think even our very supportive board will be left with much option but to take action ... because if not, as we know from past history, the crowds will just melt away, and we cannot afford for that to happen.

I can't see Colin Lee wanting to associate himself too closely with the playing side. If he was not successful, he would have to recommend his own sacking - and he woudn't want to do that.
I can fully understand him wanting to stay exactly where he is.

Bateson would have now taken action..... Are you sure? Didn't Leroy last until about February?

You're right about crowds melting away. I was going to book a table for carvery against Northwitch. Not even going to bother going now. Until we start scoring and find a starting 11 who can work together then we're going to struggle. I do feel the team will come right, but it's looking more and more likely that it's going to be a lot later rather than sooner. As Dave has said it's a catch 22, lower crowds mean no investment in the team, no investment means lower crowds. For the boards sake I hope PB gets it right soon. I can't stand knee jerk sackings, but neither can I stand paying to watch dull football (bar the first half this evening) with forwards who don't look like scoring any time soon. The board are going to either come out of this smelling of roses after sticking with their man or get covered in kak and lose a lot of the good will they've enjoyed over the last 12 months. Football...who'd want that as a living?

I think the major thing in Paul Buckle's favour is that the consortium are made up of 10 members, genuine supporters and all round nice guys as far as I am concerned.
The point I am making is that every action they seem to have taken so far, is to try and be as supportive as they possibly can to the Manager (Paul Buckle), and its going to be difficult for any one of them to suddenly change that. Its far easier when its just one man (ie a "Bateson") making the decision - when there is a consortium involved, there needs to be a general concensus and it needs someone to make that call - as individuals they may, or may not, be reluctant to "rock the boat" at this early stage of the season.
Ultimately, whether Paul Bs job is under threat will I suspect be largely down to Colin Lee who, understandably given his football experience, would probably take the lead in that sort of decision making process.
