I think it's a bit early to be thinking about relegation battles just yet. We are however in poor shape and things do not really look like improving.
On a personal note, I have given up on playoffs for this season. It allows me to deal with the disappointment easier and means I will let Bucks have until Christmas to get us playing well before calling for his head.
If we're still poor, he can go and we have a good length of time to find a new manager and allow them to get to know the players for next season.
Last time I lost hope was when we were 6 points adrift with 5 games to go. What a bonus that season was!! In case you were wondering, the season we were relegated, I never had any hope to lose. It was inevitable.

Well It has been said on here and it is so true, that football is all about results, while I think all the improvements that have taken place around Plainmoor have been good, I have asked myself this question.
What do those changes mean for me? well to be honest nothing at all, you see I go in on the popside, do not drink at any games, so standing on the popside is no different than it always have been. Only now like so many I have enjoyed it even less and have had to question, why I put myself though this.
Its the team and getting results that should always be on the top of the list, by doing that gates will not drop and could start to rise, If not just like the carvary I had last week in Paignton, you may find its been sitting there far too long, as there were too few customers.

I fully agree Steve, we are still only at the start of the season and anything can still happen, the problem is as you say we are very poor and you struggle to see how It can improve.
When I set this forum up, I did not dare think, that it would be taking about how poor the team was, should the manager go etc, I do feel that so many fans are now feeling like you, that we have no chance of going up this season.
I hope they are all wrong, I fear to many seasons down here, more fans will drift away from the club.

I have it from a very reliable source (I hate this phrase, but it fits the bill) that Colin thinks Buckle is struggling on the training ground. He is more than willing to put his tracksuit on and give him some help but Buckle won't ask for help!!

There is no room for pride when we are only three points off the bottom spot in the conference!

Then word gets around that he left due to interference from above (see Curbishley and Keegan), would this put off any possible decent replacement? Would the likes of Nigel Clough or Jim Harvey want to operate with Colin Lee looking over their shoulders?

If we have a manager and an assistant who actually need guidance on the training ground are they really the right people to be in charge? Last night we were beaten by another average team. We had most of the play in the first half but did not have a shot on target as usual. I cannot see how the manager will survive any other result than a win agains bottom club Northwich on Sunday and that result will be far from a foregone conclusion.

Personally I thought the performance was OK yesterday. I thought we played some of the best football we have played for quite some time. Yes, I'm aware that the end product is still lacking at present but I actually still have a little faith that things are about to come right. I believe that Sundays match will define our season. A morale boosting win might just set us on our way, whilst anything but a win will result in us being mid table also rans. Do any of you really believe we will be relegated?? A defeat will probably mark the end of Buckle's reign.

crooky, I do not believe that we would get relegated this season. I think Jim looked at the table and could see how close to the bottom we are. They way things are looking just now, we may well have to be content ending up just mid table come the end of the season.
This with all the expectations we all had at the start of the season, would feel a big disappointment. What we must not forget, is that It took Exeter fives years to get out of the BSP.
I do feel our best chance was last season, we blew it and as I say its not looking to good for this season. Our chance will come again to get back into the league, we must make sure we are ready and not slip up again.

He is more than willing to put his tracksuit on and give him some help but Buckle won't ask for help!! Seeing as Bucks must have spent time with Steve Claridge at Weymouth and given what happened to him at Millwall the likelihood of Lee getting anywhere near the team has to be negligible!

Oh dear...I'm just waiting for the 'Leroy in' thread to pop up now as it has on .net...very short memories some people have. PB didn't get us into this league, he's trying to get us out of it. Last nights game was a pure example of things that are beyond his control ie: Mansell going to the ground instead of sticking with him, D'sane's first touch ruining a great chance etc.
A bad start to the season means lower crowds which then leads to players with no confidence, everyone's scared to make a mistake. And as for players not responding to Bucks...what do you think the reason was they joined TUFC? I can assure you every player is well and truely behind Bucks.
Stick with the team and show your support as the away fans did last night at Kiddi.

I don't think any of the posts on here have asked for Leroy to return, I also think most really want Paul to turn things around. At the end of the day it will always be about results and sadly they have not happened so far this season.
I for one do feel for the guy, you can see the hurt in his face at games when things go wrong, I have no worries that he is putting everything into turning things around.
At the end of the day, he will get it right or like others before will not survive, lets hope the start of better things will come on Sunday.

With a ten point deduction looming and our current form...we will be very lucky to escape it imo.

Taken from the Braintree Match Thread: A competent manager would also make us competitive in playoff games if we did scrape in. In two games time, it may well be too late! Given the shocking events of the past 24 hours, I think Jon is absolutely correct with this. What has been clear to me is that the team is defensively disorganised. While we look good going forward, as soon as the opposition get the ball they cut through us like the proverbial hot knife. We have not been able to defend from the front, the midfield is like a colander and the defenders don't seem to know where each other are. A good manager who can organise the defence will stop the goals being conceded, and from that point we can always score one or maybe two to win games. We really do need somebody to appoint a good manager (many work for expenses only at the lower levels in exchange for the chance of a platform to demonstrate their skills) who can stop the rot in this football team. Undorfuntatly, I really don't think Downes is the answer, in fact I think he is a major part of the problem. But I will be ecstatic to be proved wrong.
