After losing our latest battle we move on to the next one and at least we have still have battles left to fight in and we still have things in our own hands but we can’t just hope others falter, we need to win games and get the points that will see us safe and still playing league football next season.
Morecambe has only lost three league games at home all season so getting a single point looks like it might be a good result for us, but we all know its these sorts of games against teams much higher up that so often throw up surprises and wins for the team who on paper looked like they would get nothing from the game.
We really do need to start Zebs upfront and not on the right wing as he was so ineffective playing there against Lincoln, so O’Kane on the right wing if Carlisle is still injured Mr Buckle. I can’t see any other changes that might be made only Benyon on the bench
We are looking very thin squad wise and having Benyon on the bench would at least give us a striker to bring on later and we all know he is a worthwhile player to bring off the bench.
As we might not be expected to get a result I will go for an away win and if that happens at least our fans should be a bit more happy than they have been this weekend.

Yes you are right, we are looking extremely thin squad wise, which is hardly ideal at this time of the season. I am sure that Buckle will drop Mark Ellis and restore Smith to right back with Robertson returning at Centre half, so it looks most likey that Rowe-Turner will be back in at left back. I cannot see the manager has any choice but to play Zebroski wide - Carayol must keep his place but I cannot see the manager going with the one of the lightweights in the form of O'Kane and Stevens on the other wing. This of course leaves us with the problem of only having the two strikers Benyon and Rendell. We desperately need to sign another striker from somewhere. It might not be easy but we just have to come up with another effective forward, which will be crucial to our chances of staying up. Unfortunately Morecambe caused us plenty of problems at Plainmoor earlier in the season and for me looked about as an effective side as I have seen all season. What a priceless victory it would be if we could get three points on Saturday. I would love it to happen but really I cannot see us getting anything out of that one.

Some interesting selection decisions for PB. Personally I wouldn't play two wide men, especially away from home against a side like Morecambe. Pack the defence and midfield and have Muzzy as a lone striker to hit them on the break If LRT is recalled and doesn't perform particularly well he's going to get crucified if we still have Kevin Nicholson twiddling his thumbs on the bench. Bucks needs to get Nicholson off our books if he intends to persist with LRT. Then again, Mo should soon be fit & he'll nick the shirt off both of them ;D

Well the bad news is Carlisle is likely to be out for up to six weeks and Bucks is trying to bring in a striker and has been since Barnes went back to his own club.
I agree mica, Morecambe looked a good side when we played them at home and thats why a point has to be a good result as Grimbys game looks a tough one and I would take and be happy with the gap opening up by another point on Saturday.

It is certainly going to be a big afternoon. a win for us and a defeat for Grimsby would perhaps be a season defining outcome, and we will all have massive smiles on our faces come saturday teatime. Perish the though that the results could be reversed though - its so important that we come up with a battling peformance in this one.

I can't see us getting anything at Morcambe on Saturday - they've got some quite good players and fairly good home record. That's usually enough against us this season!
It will be very interesting to see how we get on performance-wise - because that will be more or less the squad of players that battle-out the remainder of the season. I can't see anything in the way of significant arrivals (where's Ian Atkins' Red Adair-esque contact list when you need it!!??), there have been months since it was clear that we were desperately short of quality and aside for the arrival of Branston, we have not made any progress in addressing shortcomings on the pitch. The loss of Carlisle is a bitter blow as he is one of the few outlets that can be relied upon to create something. It's therefore vital that we see the fringe players step-up to the plate. Carayol has shown some flashes of ability, O'Kane looks like he has something about him as well. I'd definately be happy with a point up there - even a defeat if Cheltenham and Grimsby don't get anything in their games.
I've got my eye on Cheltenham as I don't think that there is much of a prospect of us struggling over the finish line ahead of Grimsby. Despite Cheltenham's freak win at Burton I think they will be in trouble to the very end of the season, battling-out with us until the very final game.

I'm in with the wing back wanters for this one. Back 5 of Smith, Robertson, Ellis, Branston, Nicholson. Midfield 3 of Wroe, Mansell and O'Kane, with Rendell and Zebroski up front. It got 2-2 draws the last two occassions we did it (Southampton and Notts County away) and I'm sure everyone would take a 2-2 again. That is how it works, isn't it?
Carayol and Benyon intent on proving a point from the bench in the second half if things are faltering.
I think we'll lose.

Another tough game up North against a decent side. Northampton, Accrington and Chesterfield the only teams to have won at Christie Park so far.
Grimsby drew 1-1 just last week. Prepare for battle, anything can happen!

Another problem which was pointed out by Dave Thomas in the He is that ALL of our relegation rivals have yet to play Darlington, which in reality equates to them all having three more points than they have already.

of the remaining away games this match is where we are most likely to pick up any points, if we lose this one we are in dire trouble as I can´t see anything more than perhaps one or two draws in the other remaining away games!
I´m going to stick my very long neck out and predict a 2-0 away win.

Small squad, everything loaded against us - could just be a surprise result on Saturday?
