FL2: Torquay United v Port Vale 13th Feb 2010

The team needs a win, the manager needs a win and so do we the fans because it has been no fun for sometime being a Torquay United fan, but it’s always been the case that following united could lead you to any early grave.

Apart from what sounded a poor display against Hereford the team has been playing well and have been winning in some games only to throw it all away near the end of games. Working hard for the whole 90 minutes, concentrating hard for the whole 90 minutes and defending for the whole 90 minutes has to be the order of the day.

At the time of writing it’s not known for sure if we have signed Ashley Barnes on loan from Plymouth, but if we do then I’m sure we will see him start with Zebs upfront. We desperately need Carlisle back as he had missed him and what he brings and gives out on the pitch, so I’ll put him in my team out on the right wing.

Thomson on the left but he needs to give more than he has been lately, better crosses into the box and he also needs to track back far more than he is doing when he loses the ball etc.

Thompson has not had a good game at home for sometime now and if Cox is still here for this game I would be playing him and having Mansell in the midfield with Wroe. The captain’s arm band needs to be handed to Branston who seems to be the real leader out on the pitch.

Time to drop Poke I’m afraid, he is lacking confidence and I feel he has cost us about four goals in recent games and those goals has cost us very dearly. I expect the gate may be a bit down on our last home game but hope those who do go give the team and the manager their 100% from the first whistle to the last one.

If things do not go our way to start with, then that will be the time to really get behind the lads and will them onto win this game and make them and us feel so much better.
