The Torquay Fans Forum, was set up by a fan and Is run solely for fellow fans of Torquay United. The forum Is a place where Its members can freely express their own views, as long as no personal abuse Is made toward any one, that includes fellow members and players and staff of Torquay United.
This forum has its own values and principles, they include decency, honestness and free speech, values I hold very dear to me and those will be upheld at any cost.
On this forum everyone Is equal, that includes me, no member has any power or influence concerning the way the forum is run, as a member myself, I'm also free to post my views and thoughts on the forum.
I'm very saddened, to have been labeled the ring leader on this forum, in an anti- Buckle campaign.I have been told that I want Buckle out and have allowed members of the anti-Buckle brigade to post on this forum and that I have interacted with them. I have also been accused of starting an anti-Buckle poll despite my own post on that poll showing my support for the manager, and that I started the 12 game debate before a ball was kicked.
I believe you may agree that these claims against me are very unfair, I have given my view on what I see as Buckles failings, but I firmly believe I have made more posts, stating we need to support Buckle. If I'm expected to gag my members or only allow you to make happy clapping posts, then what would be the point in having this forum. It will not happen, but when you post please remember to avoid personal abuse.
I'm now seem as a disappointment, something else that has caused me some sadness, I have been open and fair minded and will continue to be so.Despite my best efforts to try and highlight the positive message toward our club, that I have tried to put out on the forum, It seems my label sticks with me, that I'm part of the anti-Buckle Brigade, believe me if things get worse, I may just join, as would be my right as a free person and fan of Torquay United.
Due to these claims I now feel that I will for the time being, not be attending any further games, I feel insulted by the club I have supported for 40 years. I hope you all enjoy using this forum and will continue to do so and look forward to reading your match reports and all your views.
Many thanks Dave R

Gawd - I would have thought that you will be joined by a few hundred more - the football is so dire though. I wouldn't really worry about it though and I can't really see why this sort of thing would stop you attending games. This forum is not a cap doffing vehicle for the board, manager and its sponsors though surely. Plain fact is that if the results don't improve soon the manager will be gone. That is not anti Paul Buckle, that is just being realistic. Is it really any wonder the managers psoition is being called into question the way things are going?

I would echo the comments of support Dave. I certainly have felt that you have been more positive than most in your posts to date.
Unfortunately, I got the impression early on that certain people thought that they would have more influence over this forum than they should have. Fair play to you for not allowing this to happen.
Keep up the good work, but please don't allow yourself to be bullied out of attending games.

I think people are getting carried away far too easily.1- The product on the field will need time to gel with so many new additions to the squad. 2- Yes, the performances and hence the results need to improve. 3- People need to keep things in perspective and NOT overestimate the importance or representative value of fans' forums. 4- People using such forums need to be less thin skinned and utilise their debating skills to disarm their perceived "opponents" 5- Whilst I fully appreciate someone staying away from games because they no longer enjoy them, I think to stay away from games because they take umbrage at something aimed at them on a forum to be totally irrational and somewhat "self harming" 6- What amazes me about modern day football is the over emphasis on the manager and almost none on the players. The manager has addressed the shortcomings of last season as regards personnel, we now have some very decent players - more than will fill a starting eleven - whereas last season we had some very decent players plus a few who were clearly not good enough. Result? At the moment things are yet to gel, certain "decent" players have yet to produce and the dissent rains down from the stands. The forums are full of keyboard managers and the local rag gives space to every village idiot/local loony imaginable (surely they don't even check their "readers comments") so that any potential fan who has yet to visit Plainmoor this season gains an impression of complete buffoonery and inept failure...............some chance the club has got under those weapons they are being beaten with. Yes, last season got harder in the second half once opponents realised we were no longer the shambles that had free fallen out of the Football League and applied a totally different mentality towards us. No, some of the players weren't as good under those conditions as maybe we thought they were; and for sure a lot of those gullible fans who thought "non league" equated to "Easy Street" have now had to wake up to the fact that the BSP is almost on a par with FL 2, contains more combatable and determined players; and is a damned sight harder to win promotion from! To everyone, keep a sense of perspective, keep a cool head and don't get too myopic over your own personal battles. Above all, football for a spectator is about enjoyment...................enjoy going to football and let the pro's take on the worry about getting it right - it's what they are paid for!

Dave - Don't let comments on a forum stop you doing something that you have enjoyed / suffered for 40 years. Where does this leave the Forum's sponsored match!!? The Forum's sponsored match was something Sean done off his own back and no strings were attached. Sean has paid for the match and it up to Sean to decide what he want s to do. The forum was very grateful for his kind offer and would hope for those that won, It would still go ahead for them, but that is not in my hands. I have no problems arguing my point of views on a forum, I have been doing It for some time now. I strongly object to having my views and support called into question. I have shown that my support is still with the club and manager, but have like others expressed my concerns. To Merse If all I have to worry about is self harming, then I will sleep at nights. I gave two people a voice on this forum, they did not have anywhere else. I have shown respect to both those members and allowed you to make your own points of view. This forum is honest and open, nothing is done behind closed doors. If you think its fine to make what I consider Is false allegations against me, then after all you have said on here about the very values this forum lives by, I would need to question your honesty.

Dave,
I'm just leaving for the game so do not have the time i would like to write a more thorough post (but i will later).
Just to say you can count on my support as well.
I have read all of your posts and find the accusations made against you Bizarre, to say the least. You have been a bedrock of support for the club, so DO NOT allow someone to BULLY you into not going.

Thanks tufc01, I will today be taking my wife out to spend some much needed time with her, she sadly has not seen so much of me as I have given so much time to the forum. Both myself and son are true supporters of the club, it was only a few weeks a go Ant paid £300 to sponsor a player, money he earned working god knows how many hours for the Devon and South Devon FA. money he wanted to put back into football. I hope you all have a great day at Plainmoor and our team wins.

I dont post much, I prefere to sit in the background and read, but this issue has knocked me off the fence and I am fully in support of DaveR.
I left the other forum because of all the censorship that was going on. This forum has been like a breath of fresh air to me. I like to read everyones views wether I agree with them or not.
I hope Dave can weather the storm and keep the forum going despite all the flak he is recieving.
Freespeech is what it is all about to me.

Dave I can understand the frustrations people within in the club are feeling as the season is not going to anyibody's plans but I am disappointed that people have decided to pin their frustrations on you, as all you have done is given fans a voice. and worked extremely hard in doing so.
I can not find a single post you have made which makes you anti buckle or any kind of ring leader, all in all this forum has been very positive during this difficult period for Buckle, Far Far more positive than other websites I have visited in the last few weeks, and its the positive vibe on this website that keeps me posting on here and not on any of the others.
Sean said last night that Paul Buckle is friend of his and finds the personal stuff against him insulting, maybe he could quote the personal stuff written on here against Paul, and take up his frustrations with the people made the post and not against the one person working hard to allow us to air our opinions,
I would like to think Dave R is a new friend of mine, and find it extremely hypercritical of people to take hum-bridge with posts questioning Paul's abilities and in the same breath make the comments made against Dave.
I am not anti Buckle far from it but If I am only allowed to make posts that please everybody then there is no point, and I wont post. I will stand by you Dave as will most of members on here.

Thanks Micky, my view exactly, I do feel for Sean, he has put a lot of money into the club and has he said is a mate of Paul Buckles. I fully understand that reading what may be considered negative views, after all that is being done at the club, will hurt.
Sean thanked me for giving him a voice on the forum, it is the same voice each member has, the forum can't be blamed if fans post their frustrations on it. It would be a shame if the club pushed another forum away from it, we are after all supports and should have a voice and be able to use it.
