Buster,
I will never forget my roots, I am TUFC forever, I am also just a fan. I dont defend TUFC for the sake of it. My only reason is stability and the insistance to giving someone the time to get it right. Surely you would have to conceed in this throw away society would it not be the right thing to support our young manager when he needs it the most. I have always considered TUFC fans as the most tolerent of fans, but lately that seems to have vanished.
Please get behind our manager.

Sean is right and the board are conducting themselves in a perfectly professional and laudable manner. Good clubs do not ditch managers (and thus consign a whole long term plan plan to the bin) at the drop of a hat nor the first sounds of dissent from the terraces. Those that do are forever struggling, wasting valuable and badly needed resources and inevitably struggling. Is there a clamour for the head of Graham Westley at Stevenage this week? for Kim Grant at Woking, Dino Maamria at Northwich or Nigel Clough at Burton? The fans of all these clubs must be disappointed with the season so far. Thank God we've moved on from the gutter conduct of Bateson when he took a "straw poll" from the fans after the 1-8 home defeat and effectively publicly lynched Don O'Riordon. Plenty of managers of this club from O'Farrell to Buckle have moved problem players out without the need for public consumption of the nitty gritty - they have maintained the same dignified silence on the matter as you would get if you got caught with your fingers in the till at work or your finger in the bosses wife after work! The manager HAS dealt with last season's shortcomings as far as I'm concerned, and needs to be given the respect and confidence of those in charge to carry out his honing of this effectively new squad without all this unseemly dissent. Things definitely HAVE changed in a very short time as far as being a Torquay United supporter is concerned, and the overriding one is the appalling lack of grace and respect a good number of our so called fans are displaying......there is a nasty stench about it and I don't like it. Too many of them are like a spoilt child displeased with a Christmas present they have just unwrapped and thrown their toy back at their parents!

Dave I have made my point. I dont deal in tit for tat You made a statement that I have an Axe to grind, now I feel that you should explain what you mean, you asked where I stand I have told you, so if you are not prepared to give me the reply your post to me deserves, you can retract that statement or edit your post. Thank you Dave

Merse But we asked for the Three Tenors LP & instead got given the latest Kylie album. We've listened to it week in week out , we don't like it & it's not growing on us..just the opposite in fact. Plus it's wrecking the turntable & damaging the stylus (modern technology has left me behind somewhat ) I'm sure a lot of fans remain exceptionally grateful to those who have put the Club back on such a healthy financial footing but the League position, not that it's to relevant this early in the Season, and the standard of the football being played indicate to me that they should be seeing their investment being reflected in a much better light on the pitch...and no I wasn't referring to the new floodlights. What I do not allow in my life is for people to make statements against me, then allow them not to fully explain themselves, you said It not me, now as I said before you can explain what Axe you feel I have to grind, or retract the statement or just edit your post.

Dave,
May I suggest that you do indeed read all your posts on the "Buckle out" situation, I would start after the last minute equaliser for Histon. Thats when it started. "Axe to grind" yes I do think so, You have eluded to last season and the "Pigs Ear" on several occations. This is my oponion why would I want to withdraw my oponion.

Sean As to your suggestion I should get behind the manager. I refer you to my last paragraph. I am 100% behind the club and the current manager. That however does not prohibit me from expressing concern at developments. I will though never call for anyone, let alone a utd manager to get the sack. If you feel that fans should be tolerant of performances or decisions that do not meet with their approval. Then equally you should tolerate comments that may not meet with your approval.
I fully understand the need to show support for whatever team is put out. Please do not take my concern as a rally call for someones head. The last thing I want is for the club to implode on itself through bickering.
You refer to the tolerance of the Gulls fans in the past. I`m afraid you can only be kicked in the teeth so many times before it affects your smile. It could though be argued that the opinion of a Gulls fan has never changed, just simply that the media for communicating it has developed so that fans can express themselves more easily now. I may be paranoid but it feels like the onus is always on the fan to lift a team. The players and management have to play their part aswell. My concern is simply borne from frustration that we have over the years had opportunities to progress but failed to deliver. eg Season following promotion with leroy. last season was unexpected but nonetheless we got ourselves into a good position and blew it on 2 fronts. This year I had hoped we would build on it but we appear to have lost a little direction and come off the rails. Nothing more and I hope we have the ability to turn it around. I hope I have been able to reassure you of my support for the club. Equally I hope you understand the importance of the fan having a voice. We do not want a dictator with censorship. buster

But we asked for the Three Tenors LP & instead got given the latest Kylie album. Well one of the Three Tenors is dead, so don't hold out any great hopes mate. Suggest you ask that nice Uncle Mike for one of those old 45s he used to palm us off with, or Merv Beeny's collection of Cyril Tawney Sea Shanties ;D

Buster,
I have no doubt about your support for the manager (who is a friend of mine) It hurts me seeing fans calling for his head. There seems to be a movement on both boards trying to get Buckle out. What dissapoints me the most is that there seems to be a short sightness in what everyone is trying to achieve at the club. The board would have to be stupid not to have concerns about the recent form, but they also have a vision and faith in their appointments.
The get behind the manager was not aimed at you but at everyone who may read this post.
Keep the faith.

"Axe to grind" yes I do think so, You have eluded to last season and the "Pigs Ear" on several occations. This is my oponion why would I want to withdraw my oponion. I think you got the wrong thread, as I have just read every post on the Histon one and I would argue my views are positive toward Buckle. I have posted somewhere on here that I felt he made a pigs ear of the play offs, once again that is my view and one you will find is shared my most fans, as you seen to deal in only facts, you will find that is one. Its a shame you choose not to highlight all the support posts I have made on here for Buckle, yes I have also made my views known that I do not agree with his team selections at this time, the results bear out my views. I'm sorry you still feel I have an Axe to grind, I do wonder why when most of my posts have been made to try and keep fans positive you want to make out I have and Axe to grind. I was faced with a big choice tomorrow, take out my dear wife, or go and support my team. She was happy for me to go to the game, she would never ever go near Plainmoor, Why because this sweet lady suffered under the hands of the thugs our club employs, still she knows I really love my club. Mind made up, I will take her out somewhere nice tomorrow afternoon, at least I know I will have a good and happy time.

Good for you Dave, given the choice I would do the same, Bank holidays should be spent with the family, no doubt your support will be sorely missed. Its only a matter of time until this team click, hopefully tomorrow.
Keep the faith.
