The fave film thread got me thinking about TV series. Which is your favourite?
Here's some of mine....
The Sopranos, arguably the best ever made. Band of Brothers. Sharpe, cheesy but boys own swashbuckling stuff.
I don't know if you got this one in the UK, it's an Oz melbourne torquay true story....Underbelly, well worth a look. 2nd series is just as good and the 3rd is on it's way.
Always looking for new downloads so some reccos would be welcome.

Read the books - they are far better and more exciting if you can get the thought of Sean Bloody Bean out of your head! I'll add in the following, including the one at the top which is THE best TV series I have ever seen. The Wire Generation Kill Hustle Spooks Criminal Minds NCIS And for a laugh, anything like Family Guy, American Dad. Plus Top Gear of course Do I watch too much telly? Bloody oath, as Aussie might say!

I've just downloaded the wire but not had a chance to look at it yet. Started watching Deadwood which is quite gritty. Forgot about Spooks, will have to look for that. For me anything with CSI in the title is to be avoided at all costs!

Nothing will be able to match Band of Brothers which for me is the best thing i have ever seen on TV, bar none. I never tire of watching it.
But how about;
Flash Forward Prison Break (first series only, goes rapidly down hill after that) 24 Lost (ditto Prison Break) House Lie to Me Fringe Heroes (ditto PB & Lost)
There is something to be said for making just one series and then letting it go, with the exception of 24 & House which seem to get better.
Unfortunately they are all American produced (although with a strong British cast in at least half of them), so if you are not into that then this list is pretty useless.

The Wire is superb...and I like what I've seen of the Sorpanos, will definately be working my way through that.
Nothing on British TV compares with the above as far as I'm concerned, but then nothing on American TV quite compares with Auf Wiedersehn Pet imo, which was excellent (apart from the final two series, which were awful).

Got to agree with you there lambie AWP is one of my favourites and the last 2 series were disappointing.
Chelston CSI?..........NOOOO!!
Watched Rome which was fun. Hornblower is sorta Sharpe at sea.
Flash Forward was interesting, got the first 10 episodes but can't find the rest on Pirate Bay.
I really must make some time for The Wire.

Chelston CSI?..........NOOOO!! It's the business especially CSI Miami. The original is not as good as when 'Gil Grissom' was in it I'll admit.

CSI was good at the start, but when they got to CSI Brixham I knew things had gone too far.
I'd forgotten all about Auf Wiedersehen Pet - what a fantastic series and great music from Jim Diamond as well. The old Minder, during the times of Arfur and Terry, also fantastic entertainment.

Chelston, i was stuck on a visa run bus to Penang for 10 hours and all they had was CSI. By the end of the trip i was ready to kill. Did my head in!! Thought it couldn't be any worse for the trip back......it was, Mr feckin Bean for 10 hours. You know me mate and how tolerent i am, forgiving and kind. But i could have tortured babies after that!!!!

The Blackadders, particularly II and IV, were sublime. Up to date, I have enjoyed Being Human and True Blood. Does Peep Show qualify as a series? If so, love it.
