It's one of my folks' favourite pubs in the Bay as well, and the food is simply outstanding....especially their all-day breakfast, ironically!

Went out to a dinner in Torquay on Thursday night and stayed at the Palace Hotel. Woke up yesterday morning (Friday) with a thumping headache (honest Gov, nothing to do with the G&T, wine and beers!) Quick shower and down for breakfast... Sat at my table, newspaper at the ready and waited in anticipation.
Sheer bliss! Two large 'proper' sausages, thick rashers of bacon, two perfectly fried eggs, mushrooms, tomato fried bread and the best white toast. Washed down by endless tea. And the potatoes? Hash 'bloody' browns... but they did taste good.

Clint is a Dumpling lover as well Stu. suits you sir where is the dumpling, if it's not a personal question? Not far from the Boys Grammer School, heading towards Shiphay via Diary Hill/Shiphay Lane. Next time you're down perhaps we can all meet up there for a bit to eat or a beer or two. www.ukpubfinder.com/pub/2655

What. No posts today? One can only assume everyone had a nice fry up this morning. Actually yes I did, and the biggest surprise was that it came from the canteen at work. Sausage, bacon x 2, mushrooms, hash brown and a piece of eggy bread (speciality of the house) and all for a couple of quid. The tea on the side is a freebie!!

Now that sounds like the breakfast I fancied having. But its been Porridge with organic honey this weekend!!

Aus - you need to let us know what was on the plate, presentation, formation, location, photo if possible and marks out of 10. Fried egg, fried toast, egg on the toast, mushrooms and two rashers of back bacon with chopped tomatoes and baked beans all surrounding the fried bread and egg with a side plate of toast. NO potato, potato in my opinion is NOT a breakfast ingredient that goes with a fry up! To be honest I was more interested in talking to Frank and his wife, Steve was in absolute awe and was heard chanting " Legend " several times to the man on his way out of the cafe! ;D Edit: I nearly forgot, 7.5 out of 10 for me which isn`t bad as I`m a tight bastard when it comes to scoring with food, I think they might have got less had the legend not been there to enhance the atmosphere!

Perhaps we can have a Coleraine perspective on the mighty "Ulster Fry" as a breakfast option - the famous "heart attack on a plate". See this for an idea: www.mrbreakfast.com/superdisplay.asp?recipeid=727 You won't find too many farls served in South Devon I'm afraid.....
