White Horses, ah what a soundtrack and who can forget the dubbed version of Robinson Crusoe with the quality soundtrack. ........I fully agree there Phil - both excellent soundtracks, for those of us old enough to remember "White Horses" and "Robinson Crusoe", here they are in all their glory (note the excellent picture quality of the "White Horses" link) - "White Horses" alas NEVER been available on DVD in this country - also anyone else (Phil, Jon, stuartb, Barton maybe?) remember the last one - "Mr Piper"? - ah, be young again................ STANDBY HERE - RETRO-FEST FOLLOWS...this is the wiki link for "Mr Piper" - it may help you remember - I recall the show from around 1967-69 period....... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mr._Piper.....and the three clips now..... "White Horses""Robinson Crusoe""Mr Piper"......in fact lets' go the whole hog here....... .......who remembers the "Sleepy Shores" theme (by The Johnny Pearson Orchestra) from "Owen MD" starring Nigel Stock? - a fairly obscure "doctor series" from the 70s......... ....info link.... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Doctors_(1969_TV_series)...clip.... "Owen MD"....and lastly, very close to the greatest of 'em all for me, "Galloping Home" (by The London String Chorale - charted in 1974), the theme from "The Adventures Of Black Beauty" (1972-74) but beaten by "White Horses" by an ahem "neck" (booom tshhhhhhh)...... ....info link... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Adventures_of_Black_Beauty....clip.... "The Adventures Of Black Beauty"......sorry, that must be a bit of dust in my eye there, ah nearly 50 now, but proud to be a kid of the late 60s/early 70s growing up in Reddenhill Road, Babbacombe and can still remember the smell of the new mown grass in Cary Park during those long hot 70s summers after a round of putting - as usual pass me the Top Deck Cider Shandy (purchased from Margarets', Torbay Stores, Warbro Road natch).............

........and finally tonight after a splendid nostalgia session....... "Crown Court"......lunch-time legal drama series from the 70s which appears to include every soap-star going, including a young Robert Powell, also Victor Meldrew, Zoe Wannamaker, Vera Duckworth (Duckface) off the Street and even Arthur (gor blimey Guv) Fowler off bleddy Benders in the closing theme, alas not in his potting shed on this occasion, but looks like he may possibly be the lucky owner of the worlds' first flip mobile phone!!!!!!........... - opening theme.......... - closing/verdict theme - this and above one by The Simon Park Orchestra.......... ......and to close, also worth an honourable "mention in dispatches", "Eye Level" - Simon Park Orchestra again ...... "Van Der Valk"....cult Dutch detective series from the 70s again......... ......................................................................... PS: .......anyone who fancies completely and totally immersing themselves in nostalgia from now until Doomsday over kids TV of long-forgotten days, check out this site - absolutely superb.......... www.thechestnut.com/

Hope it was all good of course, only light hearted banter about prog rock versus Take That To be honest I would go with Prog Rock every time, but I'd still go and see Take That in concert again

.........I watched a great film on Film 4 t'other night - it was "Little Fish", an Aussie effort starring Cate Blanchett and all about a former heroin addict still trying to kick the habit - it really is good, fully recommended - a fine sound-track as well - the highlight for me is "Flame Trees" a number first done by Aussie outfit Cold Chisel although on this film there are two other versions by Sarah Blasko and also The Sacred Heart School Choir from Cambratta - in fact all three versions are fantakkers and worth a listen..............
......the choir.....
.....Sarah Blasko.....
and Cold Chisel
.......and a quick blast from 6 Music live........
"Tin Soldier" - Small Faces
"Glam Rock Cops" - Carter The Unstoppable Sex Machine
"Iris" - Emmy The Great
"All Sparks" - Editors
"Some Candy Talking" - the almighty Jesus & Mary Chain (what a band - you will not find a darker sound)
"Its' Yer Money I'm After Baby" - The Wonder Stuff
