I've just seen that penalty that was awarded to FGR and it WAS Woods who was penalised.....................I thought it was for the earlier challenge by Mansell!

I ended up seeing Aldershot a few times, being local, and I agree they used the channels well for Hudson and Grant to chase. But I also saw them pass a couple of sides off the park, including Stevenage, where for periods, the stuffing was knocked out of the opposition as they could never get the ball. I don't disagree that we might be able to mix it up with reasonably fluent passing and use the channels as well. I do think it's wrong to assume you have to play ugly to achieve success in this League and I think the 2 promoted sides last year proved that. Or to put it another way, you can play the "Grays way" and be successful. I've never said "playing ugly" was the only way, I've said that only being able to play the way football was "meant to be played" is not enough......................and it isn't. Aldershot and Exeter didn't only play the passing game, they were able to mix it and change it when necessary.. Don't forget we hammered Stevenage out of sight - home and away last season too!

I agree there needs to be an ability to vary and there must be end product to any style, be it directly lumping it POMO or pass and move and so on. Jon makes a good point regarding confidence and performance. Both are back. Bodes well as we go in to Saturday's game against a below par Wrexham. Here's to another 3 points.
