Our first game on the TV this season, lets hope we can put on a good display for the camera's and get a good result.
Poke looks like he will be OK to play, Hodges, looks like we should make it.but I expect we will see a change at left back as Hodges has not trained all week. I think Nicholson, will be playing from the start with Hodges on the bench, I also hope we start with Carayol, out on the left. So Stevens on the bench, so he could replace Carlisle or Carayol, if needed. Score? well I will go with 2..0 to us.

So you go with 1 - 0 in the prediction league & 2 - 0 in here. Your point is? My post in the Prediction league was made on the 9th of August, after we did not score from open play, that day against Histon, since then we have played another game at home and scored two goals, that is why I have now changed my mind, but feel as I posted my Prediction already, I should not change it. Anything else you want to pick me up on son.

Yes we do have a game on Monday night, so this is my starting team. Poke
Mansell Todd Hargreaves Nicholson
Carlisle Wroe Thompson Carayol
Benyon Sills
subs Dsane, Green, Stevens, Ellis, Hodges
I have Hodges on the bench, feel he needs time to fully recover. I have Stevens on the bench, I feel that Carayol will offer more than Stevens. Benyon has to start because of his contribution on Tuesday Night and Hargreaves will keep his place at the back, for what ever reasons.

I wouldn't deem to predict a line-up as I can't read the manager's mind, to say nothing of not having seen the last game. However, from what I saw at Histon and how Caryol is obviously left footed; I assume he plays Stevens on the left of midfield from the start because the lad is so obviously right footed he is then forced to cut inside when on the ball or tuck inside when not with the aim of crowding the midfield and overpowering the opposition in there. When the game then needs stretching, he changes Caryol for Stevens and also brings Dsane on up front to get up on the shoulder of the last defender to create more space. Of course, he may be more positive and omit Stevens for Carayol from the start but it will depend on his information on how Ebbsfleet have lined up so far. Some people may not like it, but I'm sure the manager analyses the opposition before deciding his starting line-up. As for leaving Hodges out to further recover.................well that's a fine endorsement of the strength and depth of quality in the squad!

Just to keep Dave happy whilst he's out (hope nothing serious for the good lady), I'll give a prediction -
Carayol and Nicholson to start. Sills header to open. Defensive howler to let them back in. Harum-scarum fight back to 2-1. They press and we get a late third by a sub forward on a breakaway. 3-1 the Gulls.
cheers!

I reckon it will be the team you have picked Dave.
I dont think they will risk Hodges, and there's no real need to anyway, given how well Nicholson played against Woking. Like you, I wouldnt be surprised to see Carayol start ahead of Stevens though.
The conditions could be a bit tricky though as its pretty much rained all day down here, although at least the wind will have dried the pitch up.
Any sort of win would be a good result tonight and would mean that only Cambridge have had a better start than us after three games.

I have to be at the hospital with my wife from 4.30pm on until around 8pm, so will not be at the match. Sorry to moan but 23 people have logged in since my last post at 22.39pm last night. Not one post has been made all day. I really need to ask myself If all my effort is worth it, the only way a forum can work is if members post on it, I can't believe we have a game on tonight. Rant over In all fairness Dave R, I hope the boards are very quiet tonight as people should be down at Plainmoor watching the game! However, I don't doubt the intervention of Setanta will prevent many from making the effort to come to Plainmoor and will stay at home and watch it on the box . Mind, the away should be full. All those "new" Ebbsfleet fans from the Trophy final will be down, so they should pack out the Babbacombe end? ;D ;D

It's ironic you posted that today of all days Dave. I had some time to kill around 4pm whilst my car was serviced and tried to log on from an internet cafe but found it impossible. I know I'm a technophobic doughnut, but I couldn't even manage to get on as a guest. Anyway, I was then surfing "another" TU site and if the standard of daytime posting on there is anything to go by we're not missing much nor have you anything to worry about! It's so "school holiday", at least we don't have anyone calling for "Anti Setanta" singing on the Popside tonight! Thank you once again for such a quality site Dave, it's much appreciated and I hope the missus is in better health when she gets home which is far more important than any football match!

Dreadful first half 1-0 down. As you can probably guess I'm watching it on Setanta. Torquay played with a strong wind towards the Babbacombe end but no moves of any note and I can only remember one shot from Todd that was easily tipped around the post. Torquay's defending was not too clever for their goal, they did not deal well with the runner.
60 minutes gone and the second half is no better.
