To all those who have helped turn the club I care for into a real football club. This is mainly aimed towards the consortium but also the people who do all the menial things with pride. Paul Buckle and the squad of players he has crafted into Wembley winners were a delight to watch this year... even in Grays! I think we've had an eye-opening two year sabbatical and returned fresh and ready for a new dawn at Plainmoor. We've sailed the wild seas of the conference with all it's pleasantries (and many unpleasantries!) and return to the land of league football where the club NOW belongs. How we will fare next season is a mystery to me but I now feel more than confident that the people at the wheel will be people that care and also take pride in doing things correctly. It's all I can ask for. Good luck for the next campaign in division four (I'm flat-cap old school ) I can't sleep I'm so, so, so ecstatically happy.

...nice post Mark.
I have loved these 2 BSP seasons.....and boy! did our club need them. After such a long period of neglect it was inevitable that we were going to hit rockbottom, thankfully sensible, ambitious people now run our club.......for the club.
Paul Buckle was an inspired choice, well done Colin Lee for a brave and shrewd appointment......sure you can argue that he made tactical mistakes in last years p.o semi, in my experience its the succesful people in life that learn from them.........quickly! His tactics, team selections and manner this season have been virtually flawless.
As for today......wonderful. Camb were out-thought, out-fought and in the end out-played by our honest and talented team.......supporting the gulls on days like these doesn't get any better than this.
You need your "big" players to perform in the crucial games.........against Histon over two legs and today, this has once again been proved to have been so true.
The team have all been excellent of course, but in particular, step forward messrs. Sills and Hargreaves.

After such a long period of neglect it was inevitable that we were going to hit rockbottom, thankfully sensible, ambitious people now run our club.......for the club. Paul Buckle was an inspired choice, well done Colin Lee for a brave and shrewd appointment I'm with you on that Justin and never was a truer word spoken about "needing them" Now OUR club has had a couple of seasons where WE have been regarded as anticipated and respected opponents. We have been to some grounds where WE have learned what is like on the other side of the tracks. Our games have been handled by some really dreadful match officials who have served to make the ones in League 2 look a whole lot better than perhaps we perceived them. WE have had to fight harder, for longer and with much more determination to get out of THIS league than we ever did to climb out of League 2 in the past. we have witnessed one of the most crass and unnecessary "anti" movements against a manager it has ever been my misfortune to experience.....................just think now back to those days in September when the cranks where in full flow on the HE site and in the paper. I just hope all of you who aren't banned from it's "Comments" facility get on there and really rub their pig like snouts in it. The snide, the cheap snipers and the downright "enemy within" faction with their fictitious names and cowardice in not coming out with their real identity. Well WE all know who you are you scum.................You were the ones in the empty seats putting in NO commitment, No Effort and attaining NO joy at yesterday's wonderful climax to two years of bloody hard graft by a young first time manager with a work ethic and bravery that YOU lot will never hold. YOU LOT will be the ones moaning in the HE next season at the cost of admission to go and watch League 2 football because YOU LOT looked a gift horse in the mouth and turned your noses up at all the club has done for you and all the very hard work they have put in to offer YOU LEAGUE FOOTBALL at minor non league prices next season. Enjoy your miserable summer, I'm now waiting for some of you to nominate STEVE WOODS as Man of the Match for yesterday!

Wow merse, you got that off your chest!
We needed 2 seasons in the BSP? Er.....no we didn't. They were forced on us by that prick Roberts that you supported merse.
Crass anti Buckle campaign? Er.....no. You can call it that if you're a blind head nodder. Buckle is not perfect as you seem to think. He has made mistakes that cost us auto promotion. He's got away with it and i'm delighted he has. Not being blind to the obvious isn't a flaw and not being afraid to voice your concerns is a fundamental human right. Merse, you have come across this season as the playground bully, shouting down any dissent. It is your sort that ran the gulags and S21. Afraid to be a free thinker but just spouting the party line. Doing anything to please your masters.
Now that's off my chest!

I have to say I have never met Merse and have never found his posts to be of the bullying type--strong words Dave!!! Many of us through the season---carried on putting our hands in our pockets and SUPPORTING the Board/Team/Manager---through thick and thin thats what supporters do!!! You and a few other pillocks just kept banging such a negative drum from a distance. Then we turned a corner ,so much so you decided to take your bat and ball home and not post anymore---(they were happy days!!). May I suggest you just let us enjoy the moment and continue supporting our Team......its like life you dont win em all but you stand United!!!!--Enjoy your summer!!!!!

Ah, longie me old mucker. You don't really get this forum thing do you? What are you, merse's happy clappy stepford wife or something? I wouldn't write anything that i wouldn't say to anyones face. Merse, i'm sure, can handle it.
You seem to think that everyone should agree and no-one be allowed to dissent. What a dull world you must live in. Forums are exactly the place for this sort of thing. So, if you don't like my posts feel free to scroll on by.

Dave, there's no difference between your opinions and the opinions that were being made by Exeter City fans on Exeweb a couple of years ago about Paul Tisdale.
But, some of those very people have finally come to realise they have a very good young manager, and actually apologised about some of their previous comments about him.
Do you think you will be big enough to do the same if Paul Buckle makes a go of things in League Two, or are we likely to hear that it is some kind of pub league that we shouldn't be in when it comes around to next season?
Sure PB is not everyone's cup of tea and I would think he was close to getting his P45 earlier this season, but lest we forget he then launched our team on a record-breaking unbeaten streak without one of his strongest defenders and took us to the play-offs for the second time...on this occasion getting exactly what we deserved.
Now he gets to test his ability at a level you feel we should have been at all the time, and probably would have been without the intervention of Chris Roberts and Mike Bateson (2nd incarnation). We really had little choice but to rebuild from the ground up, and the fact it has taken ONLY two years is an achievement everyone at the club should be proud of.
I admit I actually missed you being around over the couple months hiatus you had from the site but I just can't see how PB can be described as lucky. The man who was lucky this season was Roy McFarland!

Would agree about Roy Mc.
CG, believe it or not i am starting to turn the corner on buckle. The catalyst oddly is not the win yesterday but the way he handled the build up to the game. He got it spot on. His faith in Carlisle was repaid with a superb performance when it mattered. I've seen the goal on youtube and it was a perfect cross for sills to bury. Hargreaves strike was a peach too.
I will let you know when i join the enlightened ones. But for now i remain on the darkside. The pre season recruitment process must start today or we will get left behind. We'll be more able to judge our chances when we know what players we've got.

Agree 100% - this is the biggest summer ahead for him now because the club will again need to recruit a good number of players.
From comments post-game yesterday, there is/was a board meeting today, so the work is starting early!

Only the likes of Davethegull could compare the spiteful little campaign against Paul Buckle by a minority but vocal faction this season to opposing totalitarian rule in soviet Russia.
Merse is spot on to label these people 'scum'. Their pathetic little campaign this season had nothing to do with the club's best interest and everything to do with their own toxic egos and desire to see someone they disliked (for the most spurious of reasons) fail.

Wonder where he's off to. Wonder why they haven't approached us for buckle.
