Superb stuff ! I watched the entire game, you thouroughly deserved the victory. Very pleased that you've got the promotion over the U's. The U's are not our favourite team up here ( they knocked us out of the play-offs last year, unfairly - poor ref ) . Brabin was moaning about the sending off but both fouls were definately fouls. Cambridge are a dirty side and the better footballing side won. Well done and good luck for next season. One more thing - can we have your manager please ?

Thanks for the congratulations mate. Enjoyed my evening in Burton this year, and look forward to being there with the Gulls next season.
Interesting to hear what you say about our manager. He's done a fantastic job in less than two years, reaching two Wembley finals and getting us our league place back.
Unfortunately, he's achieved what he has amidst a large and vocal minority of traitors who have never missed an opportunity to slag him off on the internet as well as at games. Some might say that now is not the time to dwell on such things, and maybe they're right, but it will grate to hear these fools revelling in an achievement they've done their best to undermine.

Nobody will be complaining now will they ? However, if after five games next season you only five points they'll be at it again, and this season's achievements ( and last) will be forgotten. It's the same up here in Burton. Two/three seasons ago, people were calling for Nigel Clough's head, calling him a clown !!? You're probably aware that we don't have a manager yet. Our chairman said he would make an announcement early last week. Then he said that it would be early this coming week. The local newspaper has suggested that the delay is because the Chairman was waiting for today's game to be played. Gary Brabin (mardy loser ) has announced today on Setanta that he hasn't spoken to anybody about the job at Burton. So the tongues, they are a wagging. Looking forward to next season already, it's good to know we'll see some familiar faces on the pitch, and off it.

Thanks for you kind words porkybrewer, I have always had a soft spot for Burton and while I would have wanted us to go up if it had come down to TUFC or Burton, I was concerned when things came of the rails for your team, after Nigel left.
You have been a good footballing side and have played the sort of football I like to see played. Its going to be great playing you again next season and I'm sure both games will be entertaining and full of quality football.

You're absolutely right, our game changed dramatically after Cloughy left, and I might add , took all the backroom staff too ! Many people, including myself, have had a fair old moan about the type of game we played under Roy McFarland - (the hit and hope Histon type long ball boring game), but all things considered, he had a tough job on his hands. He didn't have an assistant manager or a first team coach, for what reason we don't know. The youth team coach took over training days !! Regards football decisions & tactics, Mc Farland was completely alone. The 4-5-1 at Plainmoor was a complete mystery as we hadn't used it all season. ? Roy has now stood down and all we are left with at this moment in time is just two contracted palyers ! Even the physio has gone to Derby County.(Or is that now Derby Albion?) A complete rebuild about to happen then - watch this club .

Roy McFarland is well liked and respected by TUFC fans, it has been stated on this forum may times that it was his team that Leroy took up to Division one. The problem was while he had put a good team together, he did not get the best out of them and Leroy was able too. I'm sure you will end up with a first class manager, sorry ours is not on offer at this time Bucks really has had a hard time from some fans, now those will see him as a hero for getting the team back into league football. The problem is fans often have short memories and you can bet if we did not start off too well next season, the knifes would soon be out again for him I think to get a team promoted in only his second season shows he has leaned so much from some mistakes he did make last season. Another problem is other clubs would have taken notice of what Bucks has achieved and you can bet one or two may try and come in for him. Only for now the knockers would be up in arms is that was to happen.

Noted. Our Captain, Stridey, said during the bad spell towards the end of the season that some players needed a good rollocking and a kick up the behind, which is what they were used to under Cloughy. However Roy was far too nice and preferred to offer advice rather than firm instruction. Don't get me wrong , I'm greatful to him - we got there in the end. I bet the bookies were quivering a bit though, having paid out on us well before the season ended ... Good luck to Bucks, he's proving himself to be a solid gaffer. I think he'll probably be off up the leagues before long. As for silencing the hecklers, the best way of speaking volumes is on the football pitch, and he certainly did that today. Great team effort. How long can Hargreaves go on for? He looked as good as ever today.

Hargreaves is out of contract at the end of the season and has talked on his blog about the fact he may not have a job at the end of this season.
The big question is will Bucks feel he can do a job for us in the second division( sure feels so good to be saying those words) as I said in my reply to Petef, it will be something that will get fully discussed later this week.
I'm sure the fans will want him to remain at the club in some capacity, maybe Bucks right hand man and someone who can still play a part out on the pitch.
First we need to hope the people of Torbay wake up and our Mayor gives the team a decent victory parade, so we can have yet another great day to remember. We also need more to start coming back to watch home games, but I'm sure we will now see many of the stay aways wanting to be a part of next season.

Hi Guys just got home and caught up with todays postings. In no particular order: 1/ Wonderful fantastic day, great atmosphere. It was great watching the whole day un-fold and as had been predicted this week by several posters there was a feeling that players and supporters had arrived to do a job!!--not just take part in a carnival. Colin Lee gave a good pre-match speach to the early arrivers. Bucks looked concentrated the whole game and the players gave 100% from minute one!! 2/ Thanks to Dave R and this wonderful forum I shared the day with guys I didnt know until recently---thanks Teddgull for arranging tickets and Wigstongull for sharing the journey. 3/ I was delighted to see Lewis enjoy his duties---think he shook hands with all the great and good.....even looked like Martin ONeil had a few nice words with him. 4/ Thought Hargreaves had a great game and hope that he is still around for years to come.....a great leader!!(I also had couple of quid on him getting first goal!!). 5/I am also delighted to see the positive Bucks comments been made on here ...he deserves so much credit. To see the celebrations at the end showed there werent any squad "issues". I trust the "knockers" will now disapear and read there old postings and feel totally ashamed...you know who you are....you should have kept the faith!
Fantastic day guys...sweet dreams...we are back!!!
cheers

Still here aussie, still here.
The first thing i want to say is that i'm delighted we're back where we belong.
Buckle got lucky this season. Despite his attempts to mess it up the team still made the playoffs. A good manager would have won that poxy league with the team and resources that he had available. However, the last 2 weeks have highlighted a side to buckle that is encouraging. His approach to this game has been flawless and i would have said the same if we'd lost. He got his tactics right and ultimately the record will show that we are promoted. Fantastic, but now we will see what buckle is truely made of. Nowhere to hide now, no crap teams to play that paper over the cracks. His recruitment and retained list will give us a clue.
Aussie, did jamie buy you a beer?
