Agree islington, DGEP, witney. Very poor. And too much negativity. A real let down.
Interesting figures, Barton. Clearly more fans will commit to Wembley, as is already the case this time around. Exeter took a few both times, didn't they?

Exeter took a few both times, didn't they? Exeter apparently took 30,000 in 2007 for a 2pm k/o and 20,000 in 2008 for a 4pm k/o Looks as though we will hopefully take around 10,000 this year as apposed to roughly 15,000 last year which percentage wise adds up. I don't think anybody can dispute that City have a far bigger following or potential fanbase than we will ever have? Could it be the 4pm kick off time hasn't helped anybody from the Torbay area who wanted to take a family to the match? At a best case scenario, not accounting for possible extra time, you would be struggling to get home before 12 at night. Not ideal if your kiddies need to go to school in the morning. As I have said before. I have had 5 people interested in coming to the match, all of whom live in London and all of whom have been put off by the price.

As I have said before. I have had 5 people interested in coming to the match, all of whom live in London and all of whom have been put off by the price. To address your points one by one......................... In forty years, Exeter City have effectively turned around their average support in relation to ourselves. In the 68-69 era we were pulling gates that averaged around the seven to eight thousand mark whilst City (floundering at the bottom of Div four) often saw their's drop below three thousand which was a bit of a rarity in those days for League football. I wouldn't say they have a bigger fan base than we will ever have but they certainly do at the moment. But then you have to look at the demographics and realise that the economy of the Exeter area is much more vibrant (or it has been in the past decade) than that of declining Torbay and thus the "pot" of available spend has shifted somewhat. Certainly these four pm kick offs for ANY provincial club located a couple of hundred miles away are a total nightmare, particularly now that we live in an age of "Monday to Friday" railways and Greater London metro systems; and that merely getting a car to Wembley and enjoying the very basic need to park the bloody thing has been made such a daunting task for provincials. Ruddy marvelous isn't it.......................they build a "public transport system venue" as they love to call it in local government speak and then destroy the public transport! Popping down to London is a regular occurrence for Cambridgeites and therefore a game in this vicinity is of no great significance for them whilst one gets the impression it is still a "Big Day Out" for the drop jawed, eyes popping agricultural type who spills out into Paddington Station with a look of apparent amazement at the great roof and the roaring traffic................."aaaring and aaaaaghing", dragging his pet pig on a piece of string and looking in vain for the Underground entrance ~ sorry Dave and Atherington just my little bit of 4am fun poking, I'll get me coat! ....................and yes, pricing AND purchasing HAS put off the casual punter, and big time into the equation!

The pricing and purchasing doesn't seem to have put off the local punter from cambridge though.... they have sold over 17,000 tix already compared to our total of 6,300... The cost is also no more than last years final when city took 20,000.
So it looks like the decision to make kick off at 4.00pm could be crucial here? Or the price of travel from the south west?
Either way it seems pretty poor seeing as it is one of the biggest games in the clubs history - this league is only going to get more difficult.
Having said that it is a very difficult time for everyon and I think the Torquay fans - no matter how many are able to travel will really go and support the lads brilliantly. I could not make it to Histon but the support really came over well on setanta and it was simply fantastic to hear it!! All of my friends at uni who watched the game with me were so impressed they have decided to come to wembley on sunday, even though me and my family opted for the £35 tix!
I just hope now the club has realised the original (and clearly off-putting) problems with the ticket system, many more will consider the expensive trip and fans and players alike will make it a very big day in the history of this football club!

Have been out of the country since Wednesday so missed most of the balls up over tickets. My darling wife has just been to Plainmoor and bought the five tickets for our group together with a pair of season tickets for my son & I. No queue. Nio hassle. No fees for cheque payment. Can't wait.

Can't wait. Way things are going, those people in section 119 might be the only ones inside Wembley. Still no 'special delivery' tickets 5 days after they were ordered, and if they don't arrive tomorrow, because of work commitments there is no way I can pick them up from the Royal Mail Sorting Office without going sick from work or changing to a later shift. (Without wishing to worry Merse and the other 5 people I have bought tickets for too much) It's an absolute f'ing disgrace and someone should be sacked over it.

If you don`t like what your reading then DON`T read it, there is a site just for the kiddies you know, if things get poeple down then it is better to talk about it than bottle it up, if you are so sensitive to this type of thing then stay away! We won`t mind honest! Or do you get off on kicking people when there down?

They've only got 100 £35 tickets left.

I have just rung the club to check what merchandise will be available on the day. The answer was that they were not sure and it would very much depend on how much stock they sell up to that point. Does anyone remember how much was available at wembley last year because to be fair it looks like the club have done a good job on the polo shirts!! I must say merse, that I also agree with you that it should be treated as 'another game'. But I still feel wembley deserves to be seen as a special attraction - the interest is not coming from me so much as my friends who are glad to have a chance to experience wembley for the first time.... However, wembley is indeed no place for losers and whilst I still feel it is a good day out for those neutrals who are fortunate to afford it at this time, it is a nightmare if your team dont get the right result....I may only buy mine after a Torquay win!!

Surely there is a difference to be drawn between how we the fans see the game and how those in the club see the game. I love going to Wembley, even half or two thirds empty, there is an atmosphere there, and there is nowhere better on a sunny May afternoon. For the club though, the match isn't like a cup final, and more like the last game of the league season that it is. I am sure that the lads are working hard to prepare for this, and we will see a well drilled, well prepared, well managed performance in Sunday.

Just cracked and ordered online.
I'd never make a poker player.
I fully expect them to sell halfway line tickets in the club shop now!

Hopefully we'll sell more than double the number of views on this thread. Well so do I Rob and when I look at this thread I do so with two different pairs of eyes. One pair is worn by Dave R a TUFC fan and a member on this forum. The other pair is the TFF forums eyes, so looking through those eyes I see a thread that from the forums point of view has been very successful. At the time of writing it has had 193 posts put on it and viewed 3913 times. A forum is a place to discuss and share your views, feelings must have been running high for the thread to get so many posts on it. Form the forums point of view it wishes all its thread were this successful, but sadly that is not the case. Many good threads have been started that failed to get one reply, others have had only a few, so it must be the case that a thread will get more posts if you really have feelings or views on the subject of the thread. I do not buy your argument that the thread is negative, I will bet you every single person who posted on it are frilled to bits we are in the play-off final, all hoping for the very same result a win that will see our team back in the football league. No one has posted negative thoughts about the game, or even our chances of winning it, no many have simply posted they are unhappy with the ticket arrangements, while others have asked is Wembley really the best place for the game to be played at. You will find this thread will die like all others do, by midweek as the game gets nearer, members will want to start posting more about the game and what they want to happen, then this thread will slowly slip of the front page. Looking through my own eyes I see much the same, fans frustrated more than anything and where better to air those frustrations than on a forum. Lets hope everyone is happy when they get their tickets and then we can really concentrate on the really important thing and that is the game.
