Does anyone know who is doing the catering next season, are we having a new firm or is it the same old dross that we have had for the last couple of years. I know I am probably in a massive minority but as a veggie it would be nice when you ask the catering staff, "do you have any pies for veggies" not to be met by a blank face, a minutes silence and the then famous words I got every time I asked ......er CHIPS!

According to today's Herald Express, it is being taken over by a group fronted by the people that run the Nourish cafe/bakery/deli in St Marychurch. My folks get their bread there all the time and it is lovely, as are the pies and pasties. It's the one next door to Bygones that used to be the Tudor Cafe, and was then run by an old golfing acquaintance of mine Mike Boxall.
Can't say what will happen regarding staffing though - hopefully the improvement in food might make up for a lack of interesting conversation as you are waiting for the food to arrive!!

I'm sure we have new ones, seem to remember hearing it was the same ones who do Plymouth, sure Sean will know, unless someone else does.

Would be chuffed if it is the Nourish Cafe! They sell the best steak and Kidney pie I have ever tasted (and i've tasted quite a few! ) Good to see the club are trying to deal with local companies where possible as well.

I have to agree about the pies, lets hope not only that they do run it, but they keep the prices more in line with what is charged at the shop. I know people have to make money, but some just seem to think its alright to rip off football fans.

With so much good going on around our club, I don't like to moan But.
I had one hot dog, yes it was large and with a proper sausage in it, Ant had One pie and we had a coke each. Total price £8.80. sorry I know people have to make money, but its Plainmoor, not Wembley.

Well looks like the carvery is the best value, the pie was smaller than a pucka pie and Ant said it was nothing special. I really had hoped the price was going to be more reasonable. Maybe the club are charging then so much, that they are forced to have these prices, but then maybe its just trying to make too much money. You would better of going to a cafe before the game, at least you could get two meals for that price.

Makes me glad I hit the "lower" end of the non-league scene. Tea is normally 50p-70p & comes in a proper china mug. Can't remember which ground it was last season, definately in the Peninsula League though, I had a mug of tea & a Snickers, & got change from a quid. Different level, I know, but just shows what can be done & still make a profit.

I have to agree I have been to many South Devon League games with Ant, where you get good hot drinks and food at really great prices. I know that at our ground, these people are there to make a profit, but I do feel the club, should check first, what sort of prices its fans are going to be charged. In the end fans may just feel its to expensive, buy elsewhere, this may at east get the prices down a bit.

Tea is normally 50p-70p & comes in a proper [glow=red,2,300]china mug[/glow]. Christ, never seen that before. Generally food from football grounds at the level we have been at was poor, at this level its the same old, but its not just that its the lack of planning and the fact that they only put 2 staff on to serve you. Northwich last year, I think there was only 12 infront of me in the queue, but by the time I got served the second half had already kicked off. Pie, burger or hot-dog... Give me a pie everytime - at least there is a higher quality meat in there, rather than having a chargrilled mechanically recovered chewy disc that has been sat on a grill for an hour and a half in a bun that has was baked a week or two before. I remember the first TUFC match that I saw away at Halifax in 1987/88. "Cup of tea".... "That'll be 10p mate."

Many years ago (before they were even a Conference club) I was at Barnet and with twenty minutes to go the PA announced "Would all those who have not brought their cups and saucers back to the canteen please do so as the the ladies need to finish washing up" ;D
