I voted for Kevin Nicholson at Saturday's game. He's played in most of the games and has been pretty consistent all season. I would say that he's been better defensively than last season and has lost his ability to help out offensively. He just pips Tim Sills. Steve Woods may well have been in my top 5 but never in contention for player of the season. As for Hargreaves. He's either been very good or very poor this season when I've seen us play. Carlisle has been good away from Plainmoor. Nicky Wroe? The same as Hargreaves.
I'm utterly appalled that Steve Woods is leading the POTY voting. That will be such a nice thing just before the play offs to award Woods the POTY trophy and give a big "f**k you" to Paul Buckle. Stunning support.

Perhaps people just think him worthy of it though Chris? It doesn't have to be seen as a critcism of the manager. I'm sure the rest of the squad recognise Woodsie's influence to the side, and would happily accept the fans decision if it occured. I'd personally find it more embarrassing if he won it, and received a bad reaction because people assume he got it for thre wrong reasons.

According to the TUST website 1,271 votes were cast on Saturday, which by my reckoning means that Woods currently has 27 more votes than Sills. So still plenty of chance to make a difference (either way). Get on .com and get your vote in!

The cynical side of me says that most of the Steve Woods voters mean it as a protest vote. I wonder how many he would get if he was still in the team!

If Woods had had a bad season, i could see your point. But at the time he left, he was seen as a pretty integral part of the team by most. I think it's his best season since we got promoted. I don't think it's naive to think people might recognise the level of his performances, which along with Manse and Wroe have been the best of anyone (in my own opinion).

I heard several people on Saturday say they were voting for Woods because of "the way he has been treated by Buckle"!

God, I hate this site. It seems that most on here think they really are the bees knees (there are some honourable exceptions). If people want to vote for Woods, FOR WHATEVER REASON, EVEN IF IT'S JUST BECAUSE THEY LIKE HIS HAIRCUT then good for them. There are no criteria set out by the club or the TUST, so people can use whatever yardstick they fancy. It has nothing to do with Buckle: he's not a player, he's not in the running for player of the season, end of. If Steve Woods does win, then I'm sure that Buckle will be man enough to take it. You lot are the ones to talk: don't talk down to us about destabilising the club or the manager or the players with our talk or actions, as you lot were the ones doing just that earlier this season with the sniping about Colin Lee and Sean Melhuish. I don't claim to be anything other than an ordinary fan, but if I choose to vote for Steve Woods (and I do) then you hoity-toity lot will just have to put up with it.

Fonda, you are once again coming across as the most gullible and idealistic sort of person....................the sort who wouldn't last five minutes in the tough old competitive world of professional football if you had to depend on your naive view of events to keep you in a job. If you don't SERIOUSLY believe that a significant number of disaffected fans aren't hijacking the poll in order to have a go at the manager then you are living in Cloud Cuckoo Land. Different people see "Player Of The Season" in different lights......................some would say the best performing player, some would say the most popular player and some would say the one who has shown the most courage. That alone would lead to a three way poll, and then if you throw in the "Woods Factor" you have a fourth. Jesus, .net even used to run a poll in which people who NEVER saw a single game voted for their "Player of the Season" ~ how bloody stupid was that?

Merse, i'm sure there are some that would see a vote for Woods as some kind of 'cause'. But i maintain it's not naive to think some people will actually just believe his efforts this season deserve the recognition. As i said, he was in my own top 3 when deciding my own player of the year - because of his performances alone. Our defensive record with him in the side would indicate he was quite important to us in fact. Or perhaps those that want to vote for him shouldn't, because it would somehow undermine the manager?

Carry on and vote for him it's a free country (just)... I'll vote for who i think has made the biggest contribution on the pitch not someone who played half the games and who has been the most hard done by. By the way i think you've got your sites confused, we're not "in the know" over here ;D

Our defensive record with him in the side would indicate he was quite important to us in fact. Or perhaps those that want to vote for him shouldn't, because it would somehow undermine the manager? It WON'T "undermine the manager"................well not in any sane thinking person's mind, merely in the minds of those who think their "protest vote" will. There will be one or two who genuinely think that Danny Stevens is "Player of the Season" and that will be reflected in the final figures, there will be those who will vote out of sympathy for Chris Todd, those for Tim sills because they would vote for him in any sort of contest (eh Rob ?) I well remember the apoplexy of Mike Green when Peter Coffill got it and that of the management when Jimmy Aggrey managed the same ( didn't he get a free transfer at the end of it all?). I remember the extensive canvassing of votes for Kevin Hill. At the end of the day it's a bit of fun where certain players will be championed by their sponsors/friends ~ it's not really THAT serious in my opinion, and in the opinion of one fat lump who managed to "win it" not even worth sending it back so someone else could receive it the following year!
