Hmmm, judging by the weight that he carries, Christie certainly isn't in his "optimus prime" (anyone who was a child of the 80's would get that - sadly some of the more senior posters won't do!)!!
A good signing for Exeter again. I've never doubted the ability of Tisdale after his first few months - his absolute self belief came-across as arrogance initially to a friend of mine that knows him on a professional basis and speaks to him regularly. Once he got to know him, he has never had anything but belief in Tisdale's abilities either.
Last season when there was the person associated with the club (who is no longer here) "approaching" particular Exeter players such as Seaborne and Mackie, Tisdale didn't refuse his players permission to speak to us, he was very much in the view that if they wanted to join us then they could. He only seems interested in having highly motivated players that are playing hard for their places and their futures - hence only selected players getting more than single year deals. He always had particular targets to bring-in last season - he came close to signing Gary Roberts and Darren Way on-loan from Swansea last season.
It's only a matter of time before Tisdale moves-on to bigger and better things.

Crispy you were not alone wondering if Paul Tisdale was a decent manager or not, many City fans did not think he was early in the start of last season and wanted rid off him. Just look who he brought in at the start of last season, two players who were playing for Bath, no wonder City fans were shouting that our club was a money bags club who were getting in well know players. I do wonder if the fact that his appearance has seemed strange( wearing the caveat) made me feel he did not look like a football manager and was the reason I felt he would not do well and would be replaced at the end of the season. The thing is he has proved he can get a team promoted and I have never heard his man management skills questioned, so he must be popular with his players and have their respect. If he can take City up again into Div one, then I would think city fans would hail him as their best manager ever. Would we want to swap Bucks for Tisdale? or is that a question I should not ask

I hate to admit it, but after initially being unsure whether Paul Tisdale was a decent Manager or not, and thinking that some of his signings were a bit "iffy" he has by and large proved me wrong, and (through gritted teeth) [glow=yellow,2,300]I must admit I think he is probably a Manager who will probably (hopefully!) go on to bigger and better things.[/glow] Some of his signings have proved to be fantastic - Rob Edwards, Matt Taylor, Steve Basham, Ryan Harley all played a big part in winning them promotion and even though some of his signings last summer didnt seem that great, they have also played a part in what has so far been a pretty successful campaign. And now, of course, it looks as though they will be bringing Fleetwood in. [glow=yellow,2,300]As for whether he was a target of ours .... presumably not,[/glow] as shortly afterwards we anounced the signing of Iyesden "the transformer" Christie ... Regarding Tisdale, some of the Exeter fans i know reckon that Tisdale will be at St Marys next season. Regarding Fleetwood, it is my understanding that we were pursuing him as late as last Friday. One would imagine when Exeter made their interest known it wasn't to hard a decision to make.

Almost to the point that they sound the same when you listen to their after match interviews on Radio Devon. I think their managerial skills and methods are also very similar, which is not to be unexpected seeing as Bucks was Tisdales assistant. It is also true to say that neither of them won all of the fans over in their first season. You could argue that Bucks never will, not even with automatic promotion this season. Neither of them treat fools gladly and you would imagine that both sets of players know exactly who the boss is.

tufc01 I would agree with everything you have just said in you post, but I would add that one makes more of letting the players know he is the boss and maybe takes being the boss far to much to the letter and then gets problems as a result of it.

I agree, it came as a massive surprise to me. At the time i didn't twig it was the same Fleetwood that was at Forest Green last year. I would have thought that we already had our fair share of strikers and if we were going add to the squad it might be a midfielder.

I would have thought that we already had our fair share of strikers and if we were going add to the squad it might be a midfielder. Humm, interesting! Gutted that we might have actually been close to getting Fleetwood - and not that surprised that we were after him last week either. When you think about it, there were some serious concerns over both Sills (in particular) and to a lesser extent Christie and their respective hamstrings last week, and with that sort of injury they could have both been out for the rest of the season. As it turned out, thankfully they both seemed to have recovered sufficiently to have been able to feature in the squad last Saturday and no doubt a further week of gentle rehabilitation will do them the power of good before the game at the weekend. I must admit to feeling a little unsure about whether or not Christie will turn out to represent good value for money or not at this stage. At the moment he reminds of a signing Bucks made 12 months ago - Jody Banim - who lets face it, turned out to be a waste of money in the end. Like Banim, first impressions are that Christie's fitness levels arent what they could be and he does seem a bit injury prone? I just hope that he doesnt become a fringe player for the rest of the season, and certainly hope he can do more in the remaining games for us than Banim did last season! I dont know what sort of money Christie is on, but I would imagine its pretty close to say £1k a week - the question is would that money (out of the playing budget) have been better spent on say putting it towards a loan signing from say the Championship/League One - where perhaps we were paying 50% of the players wages - and where we would be getting a £2k a week player - in other words someone like Stuart Fleetwood perhaps?
