Gentlemen, good to be here, free from the Unholy Trinity of the Three B's, Brucie, Barlow and Bobby. Many thanks to Jamie for enlightening me as to the presence of his sanctuary. More than welcome. I can think of four "b's". I will leave it to the rest of you to decide who I mean

Now now Mr Picky! Gent is the flemish spelling of the City. Ghent is the English version of it. I usually try and use the local names when travelling. Gent is flemish speaking, so Gent it is! Belgium can be a bit tricky though. Liege for example is both Liege in French and English, Luik if you're Flemish or Dutch, Luettich in German and Lidje in the local Walloon dialect. I wasn't questioning your spelling, just utilising your post for an (amusing?) observation. My missus calls Gent, Gand as she's French speaking (especially when she's got the 'ump with me like now as not a word of English has passed her lips since Wednesday!) She used to live in Anvers and had to learn Flemish as there were so many anti Francophones there it was the only way she could get any Social Security in Antwerpen - well I'm saying that She went off on Eurostar for a wedding in Leige last Autumn, although I had enjoyed some super Ardenne holidays in the past I gave this one a miss as my idea of a good weekend is not a family wedding in boring old Luik. Offer me a weekend in Leuven however, with her drop dead gorgeous cousin and the Stella brewery just round the corner and you're talking turkey..................especially as "cuz" is a lawyer and well loaded in more than one sense of the word!

the message should be simple on dotnet for some, surley its no coincidence that the word "listen" is an anagram of the word "silent" its been a shame of late that this is not headed. good to read young Mr Merse, back in form lad.

Well glad that you joined, more old mates to come It's good to see so , many quality posters elevating themselves from the "Commons" to the "House of Lords"The comments from merseygull reflect so badly on certain people when they do that to a professional person. This site is the future, indeed it is the present also and long may it flourish!

This is actually another Torquay United forum, as is the dot net site. It actually seems to be more of a vehicle for Merse to continually snipe at the other one. Personally I can see some valid reasons why another site was formed but is it really necessary to continue to pursue personal vendettas against those who ran the the other site. Why not move on?

This is a new and different forum Jack, Merse was banned from the other forum and when he first joined us, he needed to get it out of his system. He has done that now and I'm sure he will make the excellent posts that he is so well known for. Dave R

Are you referring to the description of merseygull as a "professional man" and confusing my choice of words for an orthopaedic surgeon as a self description? I think a long standing fans' forum poster - whatever the previous name of the forums............com (when it was a fans' forum) or .net, is it not common decency and good manners to welcome them onto this site? In doing that, is it not pertinent to give a background to their association to those sites? "John" himself gave reference to the treatment he had been subjected to, and I illustrated that was indeed a poor and shabby way to treat someone who is the type of person one would turn to for a personal character reference for a passport or CRB application. In my humble opinion, that does not constitute me pursuing a personal vendetta of any sort.

I was actually referring to the title of the thread and the first message.. Vendetta might not have been the correct word to use, but one of the faults with the other forum was that it was somewhat clique ridden. Hopefully this one won't go the same way.

I would agree vendetta was the wrong word to use. That post to which you refer is over a fortnight old and in the context of just why this site has been created, perfectly in line with the mood of the day. There are no vendettas on here, no heavy handedness and thus no ill feeling. No childishness, no trading of insults with "fans" of other clubs and an evergrowing of those who yearn for an intelligent forum on which to air their views. You're very welcome on here to post and to argue, to lurk and to just leave it at that if you so wish. There's no collating of "posts made" and thus a marked absence of the type of meaningless twaddle that those who set store by their own personal post score tend to constantly put on merely to "better their status" (in their eyes at least!) Good to have you aboard Jack

First welcome Jack, nice to have you here, there will be no clique on the forum, every member and that includes me are equal and will be treated that way. I will not allow personal Vendettas on here and the rules have been amended a week ago, that make it clear, such feelings must not be brought into the forum. People will express their views on others forums etc, members of another forum, have been making their views known about the TUFC Main site. Most have made one post on here about their views on the other forum, I wonder if members of that forum would be allowed to post a comment about this forum? This a new forum, in time it will just talk about TUFC or anything else its members may want to talk about. One thing about me is I set standards in everything I do, I never let them slip. This forum will keep to those standards, anyone who joins to attack the members on this forum or come here just to try and bring the forum down, below what its members expect, will simply not be welcome here. This forum is for adults, run by adults, the members will fall out with each other from time to time. They will be big enough not to let it get personal, after all, we are only really Internet friends, here because we support TUFC. If no other posts are made on this thread it will slowly slip of the first page. Maybe the time is right to let it start to sink now. Dave R
