I'm going to get this off my chest before I go to bed and I will say this, if what is now going on at Plainmoor with the stewards is not stopped soon, then I will reconsider if I will attend any more matches this season.
As soon as Jon and Phil and tufc01 (at halftime)stopped where I was standing, for a quick hello, a steward matched up to them and told them to move on. Sorry but the players were not on the pitch and hardly anyone was walking past them. Its bad enough these days that we get treated like children and can't even have a top on our bottle of drink.
If we are not even allowed to say hello to each other and have a quick chat then can someone please tell me why. On a cold evening and having two game in one week again the club need to make Plainmoor a far more welcoming place than it is now is, we have never had this problem before and as I said It is now wearing thin as far as I'm concerned.
How can it be OK for the same group of kids to sing the refs a C*** tonight, yet a well respected pair of gents in Jon and Phil can't have a chat with me and before the game has even started.I do not know any other place I have been to get entertainment where you get treated in this way and I am no longer prepared to put up with this over the top behavior. I'm a paying customer of the club and surely have a right to say hello to my friends who are simply standing in front on me and blocking no ones path.
Sort it out TUFC, you can't afford to lose anymore fans paying at the gate and treatment like this to decent fans will in the end cost even more in lost income.
Rant over.

I know where you're coming from with this Dave, I had a taste of it myself when I was down recently; but if your friends were to carry out the very simple act of stepping up a level and keeping off the yellow boxes (which are there and at all grounds for a very singular reason) there would not be a problem for the stewards to be pedantic over. It's not as if there were a lot of people there last night was it, but for any people at all trying to make their way to the buffet/toilet with folk blocking their way and making the whole process slower, it's both annoying and rather spoiling the quality of their night out rather than yours. By the way, how many "heroic Weymouth fans" braved the coast road last night? The idiots on the radio reckoned around 150, if that was so; make sure the next time you go to Weymouth you let them know how impressive that was- one hundred and fifty(whao!) popping just down the road showing just how much retaining their "professional club" means to them. Nearly as impressive as when WFC went ape at Christmas and congratulated themselves on the "huge gate" when we provided over half the fans at the (w)rec yet they somehow neglected to recognise that fact in favour of claiming it was a huge endorsement for the "people of Weymouth" in their wish to support the club.

Merse... I'm glad you picked up on the Weymouth at Christmas attendance and their ability to make it sound as if their supporters came out in droves... I thought it odd at the time but felt it was just a case of self delusion on their part.. Their statement really defied belief, you'd think that Weymouth were run by politicians or bankers the way they blatently manipulated the figures.

I too had this from a steward on the coventry game. I was walking along the front when on the rail i suddenly noticed my cousin and his lad. They live in the cotswolds and didnt know they were coming down and i hardly got 15 seconds to say hello when he asked me to move on!
As for weymouth being in turmoil off the pitch you have to hand it to the players as they are on a decent run of results seeing they havent been paid for a while.
Maybe we should install a rule that missed chances result in no pay!!

Rules are rules and unfortunatly they have to follow them so don't stand on the yellow box, don't stand on the yellow steps etc. But searching a 10yr olds handbag is ott and seems to lack common sense. What you should have done is asked to see the head steward at the time and registered your complaint. Which way did you come in? Did you take the stewards number as they all have to have the same number now.

They didn't actually play us off the park, more to do with us missing chances. Their two wingers were certainly one of the keys they had to open up our defence. Ryan Williams was again the chief tormentor running us ragged. Phillips was Phillips, huffed and puffed and ran down balls like his life depended on it. Thought Beavon had a poor night but then he knows where the goal is. As the He said if it wasn't for a last ditch tackle by Nico it could have been three. Several key players (IMO) had another off night. I thought and still think that we needed more in the transfer window than Chrsitie (thought Christie had a good debut - strayed offside a tad but there you go!!). Difficult I know when we have to balance the books - 1 in means 1 out. Not because of this match but I feel we will be in this league next season and we need to trust Bucks to get us out. Perhaps two year contracts are not the answer (always difficult to gauge I know) ala Carlisle, Brough etc.

Did you take the stewards number as they all have to have the same number now. Just for the record there are no yellow boxes in front of where I stand and I have no problem with rules that are sensible and are policed in a sensible manner. Merse was indeed moved on in the Coventry match and to be fair with a 6000 crowd and the popside filled up, the path at the front of the rail needed to be kept clear. The problem now is that our home gates are much lower and anyone standing on the path by the rail will not be blocking anyones path on the popside and remember we are talking about times before the game has started anyway. This has never been a problem before in all the years I have been going to Plainmoor, it has only started happening in the last six or seven games and sorry but people are going to want and stop and say hello to anyone they may see standing on the popside. As it has never been a problem before why is it now seen as one, to be fair to the stewards they are only doing what they have been told to do, but someone needs to tell them that some common sense needs to be used, as I have said we are after all paying customers. I will be looking to have a word in Phil's ear as well the next time I see him(chelstongull) You see the big black steward was the first one to want to come and have words with us, my mate Big Al told me this guy gives out deodorant in the mens toilets, so I said to Al is it only you he gives them too ;D seems he works in a night club and his job is in the toilets giving out this stuff to the men. So back to Phil, he only went and told the guy he would only be a few Min's as he was talking with his DAD, sorry Phil but have you looked in the mirror lately the steward did come back after Phil had gone and I told him I was in fact the son and he then said he thought it was that way around. Lets see a return to common sense in the ground and the club remembering that we are not there to be just controlled when there is no need and more importantly we are paying to be there and as such need to be treated better.

While I fully understand this all seems very petty on the clubs part, it has to be said that the club is only covering its own back. As the manager of a company I have to fulfill all sorts of duties to cover the company in todays every increasing list of Health and Safety regulations. most of these duties seem very petty, and 80% of them seem redundant but the have to be done nevertheless. When people seem to be suing other people for looking at them funny and hurting their expensive feelings requirements like these are bound to come into place. If I were to stand in "a no standing zone" while talking to you one fine Tuesday evening in the pop when someone walking briskly to the toilets trips over me and breaks a leg, then they could look to someone for compensation, first they would come to me, and in turn I could go to the club as a steward did not make me aware I was a danger to the public, after all the whole point of the steward even being there is to look after the safety of us paying fans. Before you know it half of next seasons transfer kitty is going to some guy sat on his arse feeling very smug about him self. Now I know this scenario is all very unlikely but I wouldn't be surprised if it hasn't happened at a club somewhere recently, hence the briefing to the stewards to move people on ASAP. I expect after a few months the focus will be on another recent law suit and we will all be able to talk to each other again

I think the main problem is the walk way seems to have been now determined as a 'no standing and/or talking zone' without this been communicated to the thousands of fans who attend Plainmoor. Its part of the pleasure in going to Plainmoor to have a quick chat with your friends and/or family. Take your point 100% about the H&S aspect but at the Coventry game no attempts of any ' standing' were made to get the fans off the yellow boxes. They seem happy when its quiet (no real point) and not when its busy (then it needs reinforcing). Dave, I don't think the Steward thought you were my son - even though I am in the last weeks of my 49th year - not that you'd know!!

Remember when they stopped the players "kicking in" to the goals in the pre-match warm ups, fearing injury to the speccies? Mind you that aspect of the game has changed totally during the last few years hasn't it......................"kicking in" - whatever happened to that?

A guy I work with has lived in Weymouth for a number of years and I invited him up the match last night. He is not a Weymouth fan but has friends who are. He bumped into these friend in Boots and Laces and they were talking about the next 48 hours being the last for Weymouth. These guys had travelled down for the match last week as well and bolstered the local economy considerably judging by the session they went on. They travel all over the country to watch their team. My point is that rather than be described as '150 heroic fans' in an a apparently 'is that all you take away' tone, I prefer to think of the individual fans. These boys are devastated about the demise of their club. We must all remember how utterly distraught we felt at the end of the season before last. I really thought that was the end of our club and god did it hurt. It certainly kept last night's result in perspective for me.

Very well put nigep and it is the very reason I have been defending Weymouth and its fans on some threads on here during the last week.
