Transfer deadline approaches. Will Buckle do something to nail on our playoff credentials or continue to insist that we already have the players? This is now the danger time. The wheels came off last season and Buckle was found wanting. I really hope he's got all the angles covered this time. Not holding my breath tho.

The NLP yesterday had a long article on Weymouth which contradicted itself somewhat, saying that Beavon was definately staying with them but then stated that due dilligence, of sorts, was starting tuesday afternoon and if it all didn't add up then that was that; bye bye Weymouth. Surely you'd think they would take the money? On the other hand it's not as if we've not tried to get him... he's been given the offer so what more can our club do? Watch this space....

Does Anyone know why it didn't work out for him at Stevenage and Kettering? Was he a troublemaker of just too expensive?
I trust Bucks to only sign players with the correct attitude.
Proven goalscorer, hope he's bringing his scoring boots with him...

Not sure why it idnt work out for him at Stevenage - but certainly there is a bit of a "story" as to why he didnt end up at Kettering (who were supposed to have agreed to pay a five figure sum for him in January) ... see here: www.stevenageborofc.com/index_news_det.php?news_id=1113This is where the "transfer" is "confirmed": www.stevenageborofc.com/index_news_det.php?uk_newsPage=7&news_id=1043

I watched Christie play quite a few times earlier in his career when he first joined Orient. Known as 'EyesDown' Christie due to the infrequency with which he would ever look up when he was in possession of the ball. Reminiscent of Lee Phillips in that he's a stocky strong forward who will run at defences when he's in posession.
He's perfomed well at Plainmoor & will hopefully be a useful experienced addition to the squad.

Must admit my little heart skipped a beat when I saw the headline "Gulls Sign New Striker!" Iyesden Christie? To be honest i've never heard of him! Let's give the boy a chance though. So with Mat Green running the channels (aaarrgh) and Iyesden waiting in the middle....................here's hoping!

And the picture on the official TUFC site backs up the Eyesdown theory, hope he looks up once in a while!

Proven goalscorer, hope he's bringing his scoring boots with him... I've never heard of Christie being a trouble maker but he's always been pretty inconsistent and to my mind is quite capable of being very very good..................but not that often! I would imagine that at this stage of his career he has chased the dollar somewhat as his quick fire moves from Kiddie to Stevenage out to Kettering then supposedly to York - all within four months indicate. Perhaps he's one of those at his best when trying to win a new contract and once he gets into the comfort zone of having one, tails off a bit. The fact he's only on a short term ( 5 month contract) one with us might well work to our advantage. I would imagine there might well be a few sour tasting mouths at Kettering when we visit there shortly, that'll be interesting; nearly as interesting as to who he will replace in the lineup assuming he starts tomorrow night. At 5'11 and heavily built he's quite equipped to play the "Lone Ranger" up front away from home with more mobility than Sills, or play the second striker alongside him at the expense of Green which I personally feel would be a shame as it might well signal a return to the type of football we played with Phillips fulfilling that role.....................time will tell, but the bottom line is we do need a prolific goalscoring period to manifest itself immediately if we are to put a run of victories together that will pressurise Burton Albion and that is precisely why Christie is here!

Bucks has said that scoring goals seemed a problem and has taken action and signed a striker, I must confess I know nothing about him, but I think someone said he was like Sills? or was it Phillips? Has be signed as cover for Sills? it has been talked about on here that we lose so much up front if Sills is unable to play.
Maybe he will play with Sills and we will see a return to having two big powerful men up front, but it would mean Green or Benyon not getting a look in and I really still believe that Green can be our goal machine.
What it does show is that Bucks still has the full support of the board and they have backed their man even further and that the club are doing their part in trying to get back into the football league.
Having Sills, Green, Benyon and now Christie. I would hope we do not continue playing 4-4-1-1 as we will just end up with the one striker and the rest on the bench or not even making the squad. I firmly believe that attack is the best form of defense and having this many strikers now, we really should be putting out the best attacking line up we can and force other teams back from the kick off.

Now we have him...will we play him?
That is the question.
