Any thoughts on the fact he is talking to 2 left wingers one of which played in the bsp last season? Given this, where do you think he sees Hodges and Thompson playing? Also no reference to a keeper other than def not Pboro lad.

Can't really see him signing both really, it seems Hodges can play anywhere on the park, so that would not be a problem. Maybe its just to add a bit more competition of the left side. One thing about last season was, that the team picked itself, the fringe players it seems were never really considered really good enough.
Maybe thats why Zebs was never dropped, when many felt he need to be, if only in the hope he would come back sharper and more hungry.
It does seem that this season we will have players who will be good enough to come on and do a job for the team.

You've got to think that one of those players is Lee Elam. I hope not as I believe we should, wth no disrespect to Lee Elam, be targeting better players. Glad to see that he's looking at wingers though. I hope this indicates the style of play for the forthcoming season.

I mentioned on the other side the possibility of Jack Compton. He spent a Month or so at Weymouth on loan from WBA last season.
He could be the "the other featured in the BSP last season" a lively winger with a good upbringing in the game at WBA but now with limited opportunities for next season.
Maybe his dad could swing any decisions he might have to make?

Possibility of Alex Rhodes from Bradford. He has struggled to nail down a first team place there and has been linked with moves to the BSP apparently

I have said it before, but I firmly believe Rayner only returned from Boston, because someone from above had a word. No disputes were ever resolved, simply the club felt that, we needed to get the no1 keeper back in the side, while we still had a chance for promotion.
Its clear Mr Buckle or Rayner himself feel that he has no future at the club, hence why he is on the transfer list and also not on the list of players to be sponsored. The club simply can't afford with the wage capping etc, to have three keepers on the books, so this is why we have had no news on a new keeper.
I will put my head on the block here and say this. As soon as Rayner goes I believe the club will announce that Poke will be joining the club on a one year loan deal. I also feel that if Rayner does not get fixed up in a new club before the start of the season, that he may well start as the no1 keeper here.

Though the "wage cap" has gone, there is still pretty firm BSP control over expenditure allied to turnover and we obviously cannot be carrying a third keeper on the books. One often unnoticed and hidden skill of a manager is that of the seller, and no one is better at that than Barry Fry - witness how he "told the world" we were in for Shwan Jalal. So rather like the dodgy second hand car dealer, we now need either Bucks or Colin Lee to sweet talk someone into taking Rayner off our hands. "Not a bad runner, handles quite well; a bit of a temperamental starter and just a little rusty around the in game computer"

Or old Jimd's hosepipe squirting around. I still wish things could have been sorted out, as I do rate Rayner.

Well if I wanted to hear that I could always move to Bermondsey, whilst the sound of Gorillas is forever pervading our home...................my little girl's fave track from her fave band is "Last Living Souls"

I seincerely hope Dave is correct with the reading of the goalkeeping situation.
As for a left-winger, I think Buckle sees this as the last piece of his outfield puzzle. I've said elsewhere that our squad is better than last year. The crunch is whether we will have a better team?
Do not expect to walk the league. Give them time to bed in. Last year's Hare and Tortoise situation will hopefully be a lesson to Buckle, which he will take on board.
It's looking good and I must say I would expect us to be challenging but it is a hard league to get out of and no chickens should be counted yet.
It seems that Buckle wants his players to be comfortable on the ball and to be able to carry it out and to the opposition (just don't let Todd near it then!), which leaves the impression that the hoof ball tactics were a lack of nerve (by the management team!) when things got squeaky.
Finally on Hodges; if he has a good showing in pre-season, I expect him to start at left-back.
