I hope that Poke is the answer we are all looking for too but putting that aside midlandstufc where would you play Nicholson or would you have him on the bench ? He was an ever present last season after all

Gullible -
I'm going to stick my neck out and say - bench for Nicholson.
Effective set-pieces but poor in the air and gets turned too easily. Fitness and commitment cannot be questioned. One-paced. Still, need him around and valuable to the team.
OK, Bring on the brickbats boys, my lunchbreak runs out and I'll dodge away; but I may return...

Midlands-
Got to agree with you about the lack of pace Nicholson has but is Hodges McGlincheyesq or better ? I've never seen him play but a couple of my Argyle supporting workmates feel he was worth at least another 1 year deal in the championship so he must have something about him

I think both Nicolson and Hargreaves will be on the bench, Nico, faded to wards the end of the season and while his throw ins and set pieces have been important to us, it is true he does get turned far to easily. Hargreaves, while fit for his age, will I feel be used many as a sub, who will come on when an old head is needed, maybe in games to protect our lead and make sure we get the result. Not sure who I would want as the captain, I know Woods may well get the armband, I do think a defender makes a better captain, if only for the reason, we can see more of what is going on.

Ooh Dave! Woods for captain? Surely he won't get a starting berth? Good on the ball but defensively he had a bad year (injury obviously influenced this). OK, this from a man who has not seen the number of games as you have, but I feel a fresh wind blowing in the camp and a newcomer will be handed the armband for the coming season. One more thing - cover for right-back? Is there one?
Cheers all, Scott.

We all know his problem is now a lack of pace, but I for one have always felt he has done well for the club. Right back? well maybe three players still to come Poke? and maybe a decent right back

As long as PB drops that silly idea he had last season of changing the captain each week!

Changing captains - as a psychological ploy for the Team it worked for a while. When things got sticky though, it backfired. Buckle tried something new and failed, I applaud him for trying though.

Any ship needs to know who the captain is, keeping changing him only leads to confusion. The captain should be the person who shows true leadership qualities, the one who will keep the players heads up and rallies them when he has too. So I can't agree that he should have even tried, get the best man and stick with him.
