TUFC match previewCrucial match for us tomorrow. Not sure if De Silva will be fit or if Johnson will have a fully fit squad after a hectic schedule but rally cannot lose this one….

I did mention previously that a relegation battle is just as exciting as a promotion battle.
This game being a prime example. Let’s hope GJ can really the troops and get us off the bottom!

Not a clue who will play.
Lots of players to choose from, but when you take out the not-fit-for-purpose centre-backs and the too-slow central midfielders there is not too much real choice.
Shame we have to leave out two competent loanees to be replaced by players who are not good enough.
Too early for a “must win “ game, but this is in the “situation will be desperate if we don’t win” category.
Come on you Yellows!
Let’s hope those floodgates open like they did against Aldershot.
At least we have had a clear week and no long journey - so exhaustion no longer an excuse.

Looks like we have buggered up Lapslie and Goodwin by overplaying them and Andrews by rushing him back before he was fit.
I imagine it is 4-2-3-1 with Evans in the hole ahead of the pace-challenged pairing of Hall and McGavin.
Bench is a keeper, a right back, two centre-backs who are not good enough and a defensive central midfielder even slower than the two he might replace.
Let's hope the starting XI is good enough to beat the worst team in the league - apart from us that is. There is nothing on the bench to get us over the line in a close game.

So much for a must win game then. This must be one of the worst periods in our history, worse even than our last relegation to the NLS. I think were gone now and cannot see any way we can recover and have more or less given up and resigned myself to the inevitable. Simply far too much to do now. It will take a miracle now almost halfway with just three wins if wet doubled our 15 point in the remaining 23 games it still wouldnt be enough.
Sadly Garry has to at least admit he no longer has the answers and maybe do the honorable thing though I doubt very much that it will make a scrap of difference to the outcome.
The players as we all know are simply below the required standard, that's the bottom line despite their ongoing commitment and efforts and that can't be changed in a hurry.

Corners are one thing we are not short on, with another seven or so in the first half alone, and yet the last time we scored from one is back in the mists of time. These are things that can be worked on in training, but what the team do on week days is a mystery to me, because it certainly isn’t corners, defending or attacking! 💅

McGavin actually takes a very good corner; probably the best we’ve had for a while. Shame they didn’t all come off.

Having scoffed a giant Ivor Dewdney’s pasty, which was the bollocks (puts all others to shame) I was intrigued by the line up. Not for the first time, no striker on the bench, where was Andrews (probably crocked after his cameo subs appearance), no Goodwin (injured, suspended?) and Olaf not deemed good enough for the bench.
Glad to see the ref go off (Adrian Quelch – completely useless) to be replaced by Marc Whaley who took incompetence to a new level. He couldn’t make a decision if his life depended on it.
Low and behold Jarvis puts us 1 nil up, could we hold on for 20 or 15 or 10 minutes – NO we couldn’t and Bailey makes it 1 – 1. Both sides could have won it but...
I see that Oldham have signed Alex Reid from Stockport (having scored 8 goals for Solihull whilst on loan).
Four clubs go down, think that I saw two places being booked.

Once again our weaknesses in midfield were exposed against are not very good Gateshead side who obviously came down here to play for a point. Chelston was right in that the refereeing was very poor. Unlucky not to go into half-time at least with one goal to our name with the best chance coming to Ellis early on where their keeper made a very good reaction save from close range. I cannot remember Halstead having to make a save in the first half.
It was a little bit more even in the second half with Wearne having a good chance where could have done better shooting wide from close range albeit from a narrow angle. Jarvis got a good headed goal after seemingly pushing their defender out of the way to get clear. Obviously karma intervened just 3 minutes later after Gateshead’s best spell of the match where they passed the ball round way well and then from a corner the ball was knocked straight up in the air and with Halstead underneath it to collect, he was bundled out of the way and the ball just found it’s way over the line., 99 times out of 100 would have been a foul but the referee allowed the goal much to the dismay of Moxey who was shown a yellow for his protest. Two wrongs don’t make a right and illustrates how bad the officiating was. Unfortunately for us, these are the sort of games where a draw is not good enough and we are now stuck deep in a relegation scrap where a lot of work needs to be done.
