Sounds like an awful performance. Certainly an awful result.
You don’t really want the Trophy when promotion-chasing or relegation-dodging, but it can add a bit of interest in a mid-table season.
One thing we have probably learned is that if we try to save money by releasing MacDonald and relying on Halstead, then we might well be in a relegation battle.

I have to admit, that when this thread came up I did have a bit of a chuckle, because as anyone reading this knows, I believe this competition cost us the title last season. Hopefully, our erstwhile leader has learnt from last season, and will give this competition all the respect and consideration it deserves…which is nothing! Last season this competition only cost us promotion, this season, because of our precarious situation it could cost us a lot more. That not only applies to the team, but also to the manager, because it’s quite clear that Johnson has been hamstrung this season. How does that old saying go…Heaven Hath No Wrath like a Club Owner Scorned. I do like the opening line of the above post, mentioning that some of our players are now fit again…and that is the way I would like to keep them thank you, and not booted off the field (probably is a field which adds to the chance of injury) in a competition which has less importance than when I used to play Under the Seats football (we didn’t actually play the football under the seats, we tried to put a ball under the seats) in Shiphay Park! 🪑 To err is human Garry…lesson learnt! 🔮🪣

So knocked out of both cup competitions by NLS teams and this one is particularly embarrassing seeing as Tonbridge have only won 3 league games this season. At least it will keep the “Johnson Out!” brigade happy who have had to keep quiet after two wins on the bounce. It’s not difficult to imagine the bold-fonted fury and the capitalised use of the word “fact” scattered around liberally by those eager to dispense with the manager.
It’s not an easy result to defend but results like this happen in cup-ties and unfortunately it sounds like the keeper we played has made another error that has cost us the game.. I wouldn’t like to be in Halstead’s shoes and it probably is never going to work out for him here and it may best for him to at least go out on loan and regain some confidence because I’m sure he must be suffering.

Couldn't care less about the FA Trophy. This result sort of sums up our season, inconsistent. I do care about another embarrasing underwhelming performance and our continued injuries in training record with players that suddenly go missing for weeks on end. For me that's a big concern. Bad luck or are the players over training and not being honest with pulls etc. Once again its ruining our season though turning out to be not much of one I have to admit. Mising again today Moore, O'Connell, CLE, Johnson More errors from our now back up keeper Halstead who seemingly gift the unfancied opposition the tie. More worryingly is we failed to offer enough threat or score goals against a side struggling in the division below. With Sinclair, Lolos and Danny Wright playing you would have hoped that we would over run a poor defence. On paper that line up should still be good enough. Yeovil our next opponents are in form and knocked a few past Woking today - their tales will be up while our other keeper lets in 5 though that as to be expected given money bags Wrexham were the opposition. I feel Halstead on his bike as soo as the opportunity arises - best for both parties. Thank goodness MacDonald decided to return or we would still be struggling. This season one step forward - two steps back just about sums it up.

You don’t really want the Trophy when promotion-chasing or relegation-dodging, but it can add a bit of interest in a mid-table season. It’s a pointless trophy for ‘senior’ NL clubs and I wouldn’t have gone even if we’d got there, even with free transport, free ticket and a free curry!

Yep, had the dubious pleasure of listening to this whilst driving back down from Cardiff. Certainly did not have our shooting boots on. Halstead made a good save prior to dropping the ball for their winner, while I don’t like to judge without seeing what happened he may have got away with another conceded goal slightly earlier on as well. Tough position but MacDonald likely to be with us now as number 1 for rest of the season. Only positive was that Wright got 75 minutes into his legs. TUFC match report

Ironically, it was a good save initially for the corner, but the fumble from the corner was shocking…almost as if he’d been instructed to drop the ball! 🦦

Is Halstead leaving in January? Just an unsubstantiated rumour as far as I can tell. Let's face who would want him and I've read that he is on a two-year contract so he surely won't want to leave as he is earning money at a level far, far above his own ability.

Parkway draw the booby prize - away to Spennymoor! The worst draw since Home Park were drawn away to Stockton in 1894. The roads weren't quite as good then.
