Not everyone’s favourite competition but I think this has come at a good time for us with players now fit again and looking for game time plus there are no league games by at least a week either side of this fixture so no pressing need to rest anyone either.
It is a pity that new signing Joe Felix is cup tied as I think he would have got a starting debut otherwise. However CLE and Danny Wright came off the bench last week and maybe this is the ideal opportunity for them to get an hour into their legs. Chiori may be fit as well but cannot see beyond a start on the bench for him at this stage. Will be interesting to see if Sparks gets to start on his preferred left wing position or on the right again.
First time we have played Tonbridge Angels and apparently this is their second biggest match in the clubs history and no doubt they will be up for it so we will have to be on our game as we’ve already gone out to a NLS side in the cup this season. Momentum and confidence is very important so think the gaffer will be looking to get another win under our belts in the lead up to the important Christmas period.

I have to admit, that when this thread came up I did have a bit of a chuckle, because as anyone reading this knows, I believe this competition cost us the title last season.
Hopefully, our erstwhile leader has learnt from last season, and will give this competition all the respect and consideration it deserves…which is nothing!
Last season this competition only cost us promotion, this season, because of our precarious situation it could cost us a lot more. That not only applies to the team, but also to the manager, because it’s quite clear that Johnson has been hamstrung this season. How does that old saying go…Heaven Hath No Wrath like a Club Owner Scorned.
I do like the opening line of the above post, mentioning that some of our players are now fit again…and that is the way I would like to keep them thank you, and not booted off the field (probably is a field which adds to the chance of injury) in a competition which has less importance than when I used to play Under the Seats football (we didn’t actually play the football under the seats, we tried to put a ball under the seats) in Shiphay Park! 🪑

Suffering succotash ☹️ Only 4 subs? Tonbridge have 7, Plymouth Parkway have 7. I don’t think you need more than 5, but no midfielders and one striker is very poor. Would be good to be able to replace three forward players to save their legs, but not easy with that bench. Looks increasingly like we did buggar Moore up by not subbing him at Weymouth when he was obviously injured. How ridiculous is that? Not sure where O’Connell is. Another injury? No surprise Johnson and Evans missing. Hope we are sensibly giving Hall a rest to make sure he is fit and raring to go for the league matches. Or is he injured again? Sensible to give Halstead a game. Only other change Wright for Hall. I guess Little has dropped back to fill Hall’s role and Lolos now in the free role behind Armstrong and Wright. Sounds like we are desperate for a sub or two now to freshen things up, but when you look at that bench....
