Great interview, a guy who genuinely wants to be at the club, his enthusiasm really shines through. If his performances match his character, Omar could become a real favourite this season.

link - Dave Thomas hinting Johnson is poised to make his eighth signing of the season - possibly another Johnson or maybe Holman?

link- I see Koszela has gone to Tiverton on loan and this is a good move for him to continue his development getting first-team football after the disruption from Covid in the last 18 months. I wonder if we will see any new signings or faces in today’s game?

Would like to see Rogers sign, he gives us so much more than Olaf... I would be surprised if he doesn’t sign considering where we are in pre season and what he did in those two matches. Rogers certainly gives us something we don't already have. Sublime technical skills. Even if not a starter, could be the one to "unlock the door" in a tight game. The question for Gary Johnson, as it was with Holman, is not so much what CAN he do, but what WILL he do for us. Holman is capable of scoring 30 goals in a National League season, but nobody has been able to get anything out of him in the last five seasons. Johnson has before and thinks he can again. Rogers has all the skills to succeed at a higher level than National League, but Darren Sarll (who is NOT an idiot) does not think he can get enough out of him to justify a National League contract. It is not so much about what heights Rogers can scale, but whether he can knuckle down and put in a shift on a cold Tuesday night at Halifax. Johnson may be just the man to get the best of such a talented individual, but if he does not believe he can then he will not offer him a contract. Hope he does, as would love to see a bit of magic sparkle. Talking of magic sparkle, I see the wonderfully talented Kalvin Kalala has been on trial at Hartlepool!

It does make you think why Yeovil released him. He was signed under the previous manager for a 2.5 year contract in December 18 which has just expired. Still only 20 with limited first team action but as you say, maybe not ready for regular first team action. I know some Yeovil fans have worries about the ownership at the club so maybe there is limited budget to develop players and hard choices have to be made. Johnson would be the ideal manager to bring him on and get the most out of him.

If we do take Rogers presumably we will have to pay a fee, which may explain why no others clubs were looking at him and he had to go on trial at Tiverton. Does any one know if he was scheduled to play for us against Chippenham or did GJ offer him a game on the evidence of the Tiverton game?

Rogers signs. torquayunited.com/gabby-rogers-signs-for-tuafc/No Asa Hall and worryingly no Connor LH. Pure speculation but I wonder if there's been an offer for him. Would command a fee as contracted but his quality is hard to come by. Three up at half time another two from Dan Holman who has returned to the game with a point to prove it seems. Must remember this is young opposition another three scored though which bodes well for the season. Reports please....

Maybe, after last season but he is genuinely injured, picked up from the training ground and quoted by Johnson yesterday that both players are progressing well and will be back soon. Think CLE will be back sooner as he has at least played quite a few games.

Updated squad list:
Goalkeepers:
Halstead Brzozowski
Defenders
Omar Slough Wynter Moxey Lewis Martin Johnson
Midfielders
Little Hall Rogers Andrews Lapslie O’Connell CLE Piper Moyse
Forwards
Wright - signed new deal Koszela Holman Lolas
So in double quick time the squad has gone from 10 to 22 with more or less 2 players for every position. Bit of fluidity in there with the likes of Johnson able to play in midfield, Martin on the left wing, CLE more up front, Lolas and Rogers either out wide or up front meaning 6 potential strikers and you can see why Koszela is out on loan to get some experience.
Think O’Connell is the only out and out winger and bit of a battle to start on the other wing between Andrews, Johnson, Lolos and Rogers with Lolos possibly just in front.
Nice to see the full back positions are fully covered without moving Lewis there who has become the lynchpin of our defence.in the centre. Only Slough as back up to cover central defence unless Moxey is being lined up as cover as well. Got a feeling Slough may be thereabouts to feature in the team now but maybe as fourth choice so perhaps another loan signing to cover this position? We would all love that to be Sherring who has picked up a calf injury due to more or less going straight into an intense pre-season after finishing with us. Not far off being fit again so will be watching closely to see where he ends up. Bit of trivia, if Buse had put his penalty away then Sam was next up and maybe in an alternate universe could have won promotion for us!
