Don’t know if anyone else is watching the Stockport and Hartlepool semi-final but not much quality on display in the first half as the teams go into their break scoreless.

I guess we want it to go into extra time on a hot day. Am listening on radio to various commentary bemoaning England selection. Miserable buggers.

Hartlepool scores with 15 mins remaining. Long range effort with defence backing off. Would take that - Wrighty likes playing against them!

Somewhat surprisingly, Hartlepool win one nil. They break the run of home team victories.

Somewhat surprisingly, Hartlepool win one nil. They break the run of home team victories. And the good news is that since the current play-off format was adopted the winners have always been a team that finished 2nd or 3rd.

However, last time we were in NL play offs, the team that came fourth won it. But it was us. Or was that last time we were in them? Cheltenham loss was League 2 playoffs wasn’t it?

Hartlepool ticket info - looking at this on our opponents website suggests very steep POF prices of £41 plus £1.25 booking fee with no concessions - ouch.

But if memory serves me correctly we paid £35 for the 2009 play-off final (so a rise of £6 over 12 years). Suspect the pricing is down to National League, a year earlier in 2008 it was a mere £30 to attend the Trophy final which was a FA competition. As for booking fees I remember being charged £5 booking fee by the club for a league game at Plainmoor, that would have been some 20 years ago, bloody rip off if you ask me, charging extra for selling your own tickets.

Question for Stefano. What does a rugby pitch look like after 30 rugby players have been tearing about all over it? I see that Bristol Bears kick off against Harlequins a little over 24 hours before we kick off against Hartlepool.

I see that Bristol Bears kick off against Harlequins a little over 24 hours before we kick off against Hartlepool. Generally pete rugby pitches have improved as football pitches have and are in excellent condition at the end of the season as opposed to the hardened mud we knew and loved in the past! This season though Exeter Chiefs Sandy Park and some other top rugby clubs have a lack of grass in places as because of covid they only had a 3 week turn around from the end of last season to the start of this season. Ashton Gate though is in good condition and I would not expect a problem having two games in 24 hours. Let us hope it is not torrential rain throughout the game on Saturday! Hope they remember to change the posts for Sunday! 😉 I am looking forward to Saturday a double header for me in the pub 1330 Bristol Bears v Harlequins followed at 1630 by Exeter Chiefs v Sale. I should be well knackered by Sunday! 😉🍺

link -details about buying tickets for the final are now up. Good that they can be purchased online with season ticket holders having first bite of the cake both today and tomorrow and then go to general sale from Wednesday. Have just bought four tickets, general observations are you cannot choose where are you are seated and the booking fee is per ticket, not per transaction….

Hearing that season ticket holders could buy up to 6 tickets for the final ! I should imagine that familiar old telephone number is going to be rather busy tomorrow morning. Good luck to the rest of us hoping to get a ticket for Sunday....i think we are going to need it !
