Odds look pretty even between the top three to me and could quite easily go right down to the last games before its all decided. Teams that are suddenly finding some form below us is a concern as possible we will be facing the best of the bunch in the playoffs as we may struggle to maintain this incredible run of form. Wrexham, Notts County and Chesterfield all hungry for league football will be different opposition than when we played hem in the league. Still reckon we need our big guns back in contention to be truly effective and have a decent chance. Really disappointed yesterday that we lost Warren once again with no sign of any one our "lock pickers" returning. Yes we looked organised and capable of winning against a sound but not great Bromley side but again we were lacking at the sharp end where it matters and lacked a the key to unlock a stubborn defense. With Hartlepool dropping away a top three finish runner up is the likeliest outcome now unless we can pull of a "cup final" win next week. Sutton have an easy run in and Stockport have been flying and banging in the goals. Just as well give Sutton the points from their next fixture as the bottom feeders have been on their holidays for the last few months. Hopefully Maidenhead can give them a game and Hartlepool will remain motivated.
We all desperately want that top spot but have to prepare for the worst case scenario and hopefully get some of our big players back and fit and I'm pretty certain that will be in the back GJ's mind as we approach the final three deciders.

Well done Gary and Co for an excellent effort to put us back into the frame. At worse puts us into top three with some worried about a top 7 placing back in March. A home semi final with just home fans is a good advantage but let’s see what the rest of the season brings.

Let's not forget that we have conceded only 6 goals in the last 13 games, so at least a draw at Stockport should be all we need to see them off. Maidenhead could be the key to our finishing top, as they have a habit of performing well against the top teams, so their home game against Sutton is the crucial one remaining.

Stockport County will not win all of their remaining games. They have been on a winning streak against clubs fielding teams comprising their youth players, a couple of programme sellers, and the tea lady. These clubs will have lulled Stockport into a false sense of security, and they are due for a massive shock when they come up against Dagenham and Torquay. If Stockport get 1 point from their next 2 games then I will raise an eyebrow in surprise! 😉 Well I will have to raise an eyebrow! Just about right though. 😉⚽️

Pants! 3-2. Totally agree...bit of a kick in the pants that Wilson went to Sutton instead of Plainmoor. Next season perhaps?

Sutton now favourites for the title and as predicted rolled over a weakened but spirited Woking. I would say we are now second favorits after Stockport dropped points tonight but could change again after the weekend. Really need to win at Stockport to be in with a chance of the title a very tough ask. Still time though for some twists and turns.

At last everyone at the top are on the same number of games. Stockport's single point tonight leaves clear blue water between them and the top two and they are now looking very unlikely to win the league and actually gives added incentive to Hartlepool for when they play Sutton as the third place battle starts to develop between these two. Note the team with the "easiest run in"
1) SUTTON: Average opponent league position 12.67 Number of top 7 opponents - 1 Current points: 78 Max points 87
15th May Maidenhead United (12) v Sutton United 22nd May Sutton United V Hartlepool (4) 29th May Barnet (22) v Sutton United
2) TORQUAY: Average opponent league position 14.00 Number of top 7 opponents - 1 Current points: 77 Max points 86
16th May Stockport County (3) v Torquay United 22nd May Torquay United V Barnet (22) 29th May Altrincham (17) v Torquay United
3) STOCKPORT: Average opponent league position 12.33 Number of top 7 opponents - 1 Current points: 72 Max points 81
15th May Stockport County v Torquay United (1) 22nd May Stockport County V Woking (20) 29th May Yeovil (16) v Stockport County
4) HARTLEPOOL: Average opponent league position 11.75 Number of top 7 opponents - 1 Current points: 70 Max points 79
15th May Aldershot (15) v Hartlepool 22nd May Sutton United (2) V Hartlepool 29th May Hartlepool v Weymouth (18)

Looking ahead to next season....there are clearly a number of fans posting on this site who have great knowledge of local football and a real passion for the club. It would be good for the club to harness this knowledge and invite members to help out on the local scouting front. Perhaps then we will find the next Donovan Wilson or Keiffer Moore. Nothing to lose and potentially a lot to gain.

As long as we do our job we will win the league. It does mean winning our last 3 games but that is certainly achievable. Stockport were rocked this evening when they came up against real footballers after weeks playing teams fielding their programme sellers and tea lady. Stockport should hold no fear for us. Of the 7 clubs immediately below us and the 1 above us, Stockport is the only one we have not played away from home. Of the other 7 we have won 6 and drawn 1. Do our bit and we are there.
Sutton will not handle the pressure of knowing they have to win their 3 remaining games to stay top. They will wilt. One slip is all that is needed....and that being on their mind will lead to the slip.
We will be deserved champions. Put the champagne on ice. 😉🥂🍾

Put the champagne on ice. 😉🥂🍾 My thoughts exactly, and I would also say this: Stockport have been held this evening by a mid-table team, albeit one with a similar recent unbeaten record to ours. When we beat them on Sunday, that will have two effects. Not only will they be unable to catch us, but also Hartlepool will have the incentive to overtake them for third place and raise their game against Sutton. Sutton themselves have struggled in their last two games to overcome poor teams at the bottom of the table, and there is no guarantee that they will be able to take all three points from Maidenhead, despite the latter's thrashing by Notts County. As Stefano suggests, Sutton have never been in such a position before and are more than likely to slip up with the finishing line in sight. For us, the number one spot is everything. The play offs would be a complete lottery, and my guess is that Notts County are capable of beating all the others and joining us on our way back to the Football League.
