Actually very good half of football with chances at both ends. Pity the penalty from Asa did not go in and Sheaf had a good chance with nice feet in their area but ultimately Woking took their chance well.

Definitely entertaining game but how we didn’t score today I will never know. Had a penalty saved, hit the post, waters with two golden chances and then right at the end a free-kick headed in and how the lino thought that was offside I will never know.....

Defeat with honor with a completely make shift side and no more injuries - hopefully.... Result! Meanwhile Stockport, Wrexham make ground while Hartlepool should win against the worst side in the division in the ;late ko.
We know our priorities now....

link - according to the Devon Live report Lino claimed Waters was in an off side position and helped the ball in with his head. Will need to see it again but think we were robbed. link - on this informal poll Woking fans overwhelmingly voted the Lino as their MOTM.

Johnson feedback - and yes we were robbed - Lino thought Waters got the final touch when in actual fact the ball went in off the post. Pity the ref didn’t speak to the Lino - piss poor really......

One down and missed a pen - great news and Reg will be happy... I don’t think that the word happy quite covers it, but sadly the damage has been done and this competition has cost us promotion. The repercussions of which should be felt later in the year!

He was going to but our players crowded him and he then decided not to. Was imploring them to leave him be, but no. Poor on our part. Had Asa been subbed by then, as it needed common sense applying and some distance given. GJ says we wanted red to speak to Lino. Sadly some of our number blocked his path and that was that. Naive. Sure, ref should still have gone over, but he didn’t and we didn’t help ourselves. Not fussed we are out, though. Concentrate on the League.

Deserved a result overall yesterday but no further injuries and we can now concentrate on winning the league with no more glamorous cup games to distract us. Seven winnable games in March. By the end of March we should be sitting pretty with it in our own hands and set up nicely for the April visit to Sutton United and a Plainmoor encounter with Notts County. It is such a pity that this top of the table season cannot be witnessed by a full to capacity Plainmoor. Hopefully it will be a full house for our first game in Football League 2 next season, and Exeter City would be a good one to start with. ⚽️

I didn't watch the match yesterday but listened to the commentary while doing things in the sunshine - it was far to good to miss, the sunshine that is! Have to say considering the amount of injuries we have had to cope with, its been all about damage limitation, we've had done admirably well in very difficult circumstances. Its obvious to me the standard has dropped though the effort and commitment hasn't which has kept the ball rolling as it were. Goals and threat from open play have dried up and the there is still a huge question mark over how that one is solved though praying Boden may be the answer. If we're to be serious contenders for the title we need three or four of our quality players back. To me Nemane ( Any news on his progress?) has been one of the biggest losses his energy and box to box support play was superb in the opening half of the season and since his absence we have had to rely more on Ben Whitfield to get at defenders down the flanks with little or no threat on the right hand side. Wright obviously for his hold up play and experience. Have to sort out our dead ball delivery as well some of the free kicks have been woeful of late that have led to goals against lost us games. I'm hopeful and still optimistic but will need more of our better players back to respond to the challenge of Sutton etc who seemed to have escaped the injury curse.

Cheers petef- I think if one cannot be optimistic when one is top of the league then one never will be! Not been in that position many times in my 58 years since my first Plainmoor experience a 1-0 against Rochdale, and definitely more troughs than peaks! 😂⚽️🍺

In terms of dead ball delivery, I think CLE should be told to stay off them until or unless he is some more practice. Andrews took a good one that hit the post yesterday. CLE took a corner described by the commentary team as the worst they had ever seen.

Perhaps I am the only one who is disappointed by yesterday's defeat, especially as there was ultimately an unjust decision which cost us dear. It does mean, however, a loss of future potential funds and another possible appearance at Wembley.
The absence of so many unfit players has undoubtedly been the main factor of an alarming slump in results in the past eight matches, but I am even more worried by an uncharacteristic reticence on the part of the club in keeping us all virtually in the dark about the nature and severity of the injuries. I believe that Little, Wright and now Cameron are the victims of hamstring problems, but I know little or nothing about what is wrong with Nemane, Warren, Moxey or Covolan.
Of course, it's possible that I have missed some of these details when reading articles on the official site, so perhaps others can bring me up to date with a list of the absentees, what their problem is and when they could be expected to return to action.
It's really quite hard to figure out why there has been such a spate of injuries all at the same time, as I have never known anything like it before. At times almost a whole team missing! Could it be that the training is either too intense or not intense enough? Perhaps there is too much of a diversity in age (which would be a perfect combination if all were fit), in other words our young players lack the experience to withstand the rigours of the National League and our older players are not coping because their bodies and legs can no longer withstand them either. Perhaps some players have become fed up with living in a bubble, which has made them careless or complacent. Or is it just bad luck?
I think the difference between the earlier matches and now will become apparent next Saturday when we face a team which we beat 5-0 away. It hardly seems possible that we dealt out such a thrashing to a team currently in third place. Something has to happen to redress the balance soon, otherwise I can easily see a repetition of 1990/91, which I described on an earlier thread.
