I thought our shape was good. We look so much better with Lemonheigh-Evans in the hole. Buse did a very good job filling Nemane’s boots. He has his limitations, but stuck to the task and worked his socks off.
Excellent finish from Waters - another who worked hard to fill a role which is not the one he would choose.
Glad Boden got some game time. Don’t know much about what kind of a player he is, but we were desperate for an experienced striker and he seems to fit the bill. Let’s hope it turns out to be a good move for both parties. Hope he has a better disciplinary record than a certain centre-forward Cyril signed from Chesterfield.

Lots and lots of talking points for that one. No way should MacDonald have picked up the first yellow. Thought the ball was live and kicked it out. Second yellow had no where to go once couldn’t get to the ball. Overall a good performance to get a win at a ground most teams get little change from. I thought the second yellow ought to have been a straight red, myself. |

I thought the second yellow ought to have been a straight red, myself. I thought so too and wondered if it was. Was the yellow definitely shown before the red? I thought so and both bbc and flash score have it as a second yellow. Johnson’s comments above were that both he and MacDonald didn’t realise he had been booked earlier. |

Got away with injuries tonight Thank God as Johnson stated that there were 3 or 4 carrying niggles that he didn’t want to play 90 minutes tonight.

Well, an unexpected result for all of us it seems.
So where do we go from here? There are actually two paths we could take?
We could go to Woking next Saturday and get the crap kicked out of us, shit, even Jon has come out of his stupor and recognised that! Or we could do what every other club on the planet does...bend the rules in our favour.
We could say: ‘f**k the Grail’, (forfeit it in other words) and take a ten day rest before we take on Hartlepool...or...we could continue with the ‘Quest’ lose out to Sutton (words fail me) and yet again grab defeat from the jaws of victory!
God give me strength! 🧎♂️

Conceding the Woking match certainly a tempting possibility. .especially as it appears we may be lacking in the GK department. However, not sure it is entirely ethical.

I expected a win last evening as a good team does not suddenly become a bad team even with a number of injuries and we were due one. A very strong midfield of play makers it was always going to be a stern test for Solihull.
Although the FA Trophy is a distraction withdrawing from it by conceding the quarter final is something that goes on in the amateur ranks of park football.
It should not figure in the mindset of a professional club which wants to return to the Football League. Our club is not at a Micky Mouse level.
Some may say we should turn up but throw the game. Not as easy as it sounds. These are professional players and it is not part of their mindset.
There is also the important psychology of sport where winning becomes a habit and a winning mentality is engrained in the players. It would be nice to go into an important and tough game against Hartlepool with two wins on the bounce.
Off the pitch of course at this time of markedly reduced income with no spectators allowed as we are now in the latter stages of the FA Trophy competition the prize money is not to be sniffed at.
Our 11 points lead at the top of the table was always going to be eroded because of the number of games in hand other teams had. What was obvious though was that those clubs would not win all of their games. Notts County and Stockport County have managed to erode quite a few of their games in hand. Sutton United is on a good run and at this particular time look to be the main threat.
The same remains though in that Sutton will not keep winning until the end of the season. We should be getting some of our very good players back soon so need to be concentrating on our own performances and results. That would set it up for a classic 6 pointer in mid Aoril when we visit Sutton, and with Sutton also having to visit Notts County at that time I can see us all having big smiles on our faces come the end of April ⚽️
