While many would rather we concentrated solely on the league, this game has come at a good time for us, for without it, there would have been a 3 week break before the Notts game which could have seen us being a bit under cooked. (Even that may not go ahead with snow in the long range forecast and assuming COVID does not cause another postponement either.) It also gives us a chance for new loanee Rob Street to make his debut and bed in with the team. I think it likely that Johnson will field quite a strong side perhaps also using the bench as much as possible. We should also find out before this game whether Randell and Sherring are to stay until the end of the season and if Wynter and/or Little are fit enough to make the bench.
We have already played and drew 1-1 with Boreham Wood back in November, it was the match that Randell got a second yellow and they looked a decent side with Thomas being their danger man. They gave Millwall a good game last Saturday in the FA Cup, eventually going down 2-0. They also play Dover with just 2 changes tonight, (0-1 up as I type) a win would see them go from 11th place to fourth showing how tight things are. They also play Barnet next Tuesday, giving them the opportunity to cement a position in the play offs. I could be wrong but suspect they may rest more players than us and this could be an opportunity to get through to the last 16.

with Thomas being their danger man. . link - not anymore, just signed by Huddersfield and the reason why he was rested during their 1-1 draw with Dover last night. Cannot but help think that unless they strengthen, will struggle to challenge for the top of the league now.

Agree Boreham Wood probably not our main rivals...but worth pointing out they have taken 13 points from their last 5 games..best current form in the division.

For me its more important to give as many squad players pitch time during this fixture lull above any result and in a safe way.
The competition has little meaning, our priority has to be the league a competition that should perhaps have been postponed as I believe certain other competitions like the EFL cup etc should have been. Easy to say in hindsight I guess but traveling to other very high risk parts of the country should be reduced and stricter measure put in place. It should be a priority that clubs fulfill their league fixtures and obligations.
More important to tighten up on the moronic close quarters celebrations on and off the pitch that we have witnessed recently with thousands still dying daily. If we want the league season at to continue at any level players mixing hugging and embracing, and jumping over each other in changing rooms has to be be nipped in the bud.
Some players it seems have all of a sudden forgotten the dangers and their responsibilities.

Oh sweet Jesus, please listen to my prayer. 🙏
I’ve been good haven’t I? I’ve stopped looking at those brazen hussies late at night on tinternet, and you were right...my eyesight has improved!
I’ve shovelled the snow away from the grass in the back garden so the Pheasants can get at their peanuts...twice today! Nineteen is the record...that’s not how many times I’ve shovelled snow away sweet Jesus, but the most Pheasants at one time.
We’re still in this competition because our goal came from a deflection of the post...well coat actually because there weren’t any posts...but I believe BW might have proper posts.
For some unfathomable reason some people want to be in this competition, then again, some people don’t like Mr Osborne...nowt as queer as folk, eh SJ?
So here is my little prayer: Get us out of this fuckin competition...thank you sweet Jesus. 😇

Streaming details (matchday pass) now on Boreham Wood website for £9.99 However with 3-4'' of snow anticipated for the London area later tonight it might be an idea to wait until about 12 noon tomorrow to sign in !!

Had my suspicions it wouldn't be as bad but there you go.

I’ve updated the time and date on this thread. It means this is played in quick succession with the important Notts and Sutton games. Not ideal but then the players have had a nice break so fatigue shouldn’t be an immediate issue......

The next two impending league fixtures will be as tough as they come, both teams will be very eager to knock us off of our perch. Is there a danger of losing momentum? Possibly but our form before the enforced break had dipped a little with the loss at Yeovil tough I put that down more to losing a couple of players to injury and the intense games over the Xmas period. Our style demands a high tempo but has consequences but would hope we come back refreshed and with renewed vigor. Knowing GJ he would have kept the kettle boiling in training.
The Trophy game is a bit of a hindrance though if we avoid injuries could get us back up and running back into game mode. I would imagine GJ will want to give as many of his first choice squad some pitch time and will more than likely instruct the players to enjoy it and play to our pattern and style but more importantly avoid picking up strains etc.
