Maidenhead have scored against Hartlepool but Sutton have just scored against Weymouth. On the plus side Olaofe was injured in the warmup possibly their best player? - linkI wouldn't put it past Maidenhead to take points off Sutton at their own ground in a couple of weeks' time. Having said that, they have just had a player sent off against Hartlepool.

Is your son watching the stream? If not, why not? Just listening to it I am afraid to see if that works. Sutton do have the wind behind them so match isn’t over yet. Will definitely be watching on Tuesday. I hope his lack of commitment to the cause doesn’t end up costing us promotion.

Paddy Madden substituted by Stockport at half time, possibly injured? Three yellow cards for Dagenham in the first half, so they are clearly not holding back. Currently 1-1. Woking just levelled at Sutton. Vital games, these.

Praying for Woking to do anything but lose was perhaps a step too far for any voodoo charm. Maidenhead v Sutton an entirely different matter.

Barnet go down by a single goal to Solihull. Don't know if we can read anything into that given the circumstances. I don't think we can catch Sutton's goal difference; if Barnet are so poor that we can score a hatful, then Sutton will be able to match that easily. The only way we can go up is if we win both our games and Sutton fail to win any of theirs. It's possible Hartlepool can beat Sutton and only last month Sutton narrowly beat Barnet at home 1-0 with a goal in the 70th minute.

I would not completely agree with that Plainmoorpete. What is correct is that Sutton do need to lose to Hartlepool on Sunday. That is highly likely as Hartlepool are challenging, they are a good team, and they really need the win. Our GD deficit is 6 goals. A Hartlepool win would reduce that by at least 1 goal but maybe 2 or more. We just need to reduce the rest of the GD deficit with our own result. 4-0 could do it and who is to say that is impossible? Barnet have conceded an average of 2.3 goals per game, so with a home game and a crowd of all home suport why should we not smash them? If we do I do not think it follows that Sutton would do the same to Barnet the following week. Barnet will be at home, it is a local derby, and Barnet will have a crowd in. If Torquay did manage to go top this weekend (or even be equal on points but slightly behind on GD) just imagine the potential for final game wobbles for Sutton! 😉⚽️

We do need a lot to go right but we do have a few small margins in our favour namely:
1) We play Barnet 3 days (or just under) at Plainmoor with fans just after they have played away. Sutton play them at the hive with fans 4 days after they have played at home so better recovery time and no one likes to see the opposition celebrate the title at your ground in front of your fans.
2) Since I did the run in thread on 13th April this will be Sutton’s 10th game whereas it is Hartlepool’s 6th game since this date.
3) A final day shoot out would be so typical of Torquay. Oh well, at least I haven’t had a heart op recently....

If that happened, we’d draw at Alty. 😉 Yes that is why it is important to be top after this weekend. We draw 1-1 at Altrincham, and Sutton draw 0-0 at Barnet, putting us through on goals scored. Even identical points, GD, goal scored, and matches won, would be ok as the next decider is head to head between the clubs. Whilst all the other factors can be changed in the next 2 games for each club the head to head cannot. We are ahead with a 0-0 at Plainmoor and a 1-0 win at Sutton. Whatever happens though it is important to keep it in perspective, it is only a game of soccer. An important part of the leisure and entertainment industry, but only a game of soccer nonetheless.
