With the postponement of the pilots of larger crowds in sport venues this weekend you do start to wonder about the start date but at least it is more realistic than early September now. Is attendance of matches in the National League in October dependent on the outcome of these pilots? I can't help thinking that the situation regarding covid-19 in the community is gradually getting worse and there now seems to be growing resistance to the use of social distancing, at least amongst some sections of society. If attendance at our games is not possible then surely the season will be abandoned because none of the clubs owners are going to be able to bank roll their clubs for an entire season without income.

It is a risk if things get out of control. We are not there yet though. Positive cases on a 7 day rolling average hit a uk low of around 550 per day almost 4 weeks ago and are now around 750 per day. Think back to March when cases were doubling every 3 to 4 days and this is a relative small uptick. From a local perspective, positive cases in the whole of Devon have gone from an average of one a day to between 3 and 4 in the last month and reflects people coming in from other parts of the country with higher rates. I hope this will diminish again come the end of August when numbers of tourist visiting, particularly younger ones drops off again. Despite this cases are still very low here and it is the Cities in the North of England which for various reasons haven’t been able to lower their rates.
I suppose the importance of these pilot schemes is to verify that the measures set out in the government guidance can work in practice and therefore games with spectators can be given the go ahead. As there is an agreed principle that non league will not play unless in front of spectators then we are wholly reliant on these.

This is perhaps off topic in terms of current discussion but does conform to the title of the thread.
I noticed today that St Mirren kicked off in their first match of a new Scottish season without observing the kneeling down process, and everyone had to be hauled back to carry it out for about five seconds.
I should have thought that the Championship play off on Tuesday would be a good time to bring this activity to an end in England, but the Scots have just re-started, so surely they don't intend to carry on with it throughout the whole season? The point of it has been well made and well observed, but I think that we have all got the message by now. It does nobody any harm, but it is starting to lose the point and become, frankly, rather tiresome.

I guess its their choice but quite surprised the players rejected the proposal of a temporary 20% pay cut. I doubt Dover will be the only victims and if a few more follow it will put the whole National League structure in jeopardy. I find it incredibly fortunate that there has been no hint of cut backs or any sense of panic from our board/owner though its all gone a bit quiet this past week.
With the additional month wait for many clubs to even start thinking of generating income and the uncertainty over fans in grounds I'm beginning to fear the worst.

I think the furlough scheme changed in August so employers now pay National Insurance and Pension contributions, no pre season income when players do come back from furlough and then reduced match day income for the season with no guarantee of even getting through the season. Think this situation needs to be looked at very carefully by all parties concerned......

Its a shambles, clubs just have no idea where they are at the moment and the sooner they sort out all of the rules of attendance the better it will be for all concerned.

Difficult to see much transfer activity in the lower divisions given current circumstances.

Difficult to see much transfer activity in the lower divisions given current circumstances. With smaller squads to save money, Kalala was absolutely mad to reject a contract.
