One of the Sunday papers is claiming Nottingham Forrest are after cloughie - no they're not going to dig up Brian.
If he goes could only be good for us as he knows Burton inside out.
Only bloody chance we have of being champions this season!

Can't agree that by Clough moving on from Burton, would be are only chance of going up. Yes they have a 10 point lead but we have to play them home and away and we have a game in hand. While we can't count of any of those points being won by us, if we did as things stand without any other results being included, we would only be one point behind.
We have learned last season, not to bank on any points from games not yet played, we were close to playing Aldershot at home and most were looking at us being on at the top of the table, after the game had be played. We soon found that we were slipping away from them as they went on to pile on the points and leave us far behind in the end.

Thats a very interesting story isn't it? In my opinion he would be making a huge step into shoes that are impossible to fill. But it's his old club, his father's club and there's only so much you can do at a club of Burton's stature.

I wonder if Roy Keane might fancy it as well??

It appears there are three candidates, varying from the exciting to the boring to the hopeful for us.
Roy Keane, Nigel Clough and Billy Davies.

Everytime there is a midlands based non-Premiership manager's position that becomes available, Nigel Clough will be mentioned in the press. Clough will be at Burton until the end of the season IMHO.

If Nottingham Forrest were chasing him, I'm sure it would be because they might feel its a name that the Forrest fans know and love so much. That was good old Brian and I somehow feel that Nigel might not want to have to try and live up to his fathers name at Nottingham Forrest.
I do believe he is good enough to make the step up, but a step that could end in tears as the expectations may just be too high by the Forrest fans. He will do far better to take his team up this season and see what offers comes in then.

I heard this at the game yesterday, and was hopeful that it would happen!
However, I don't think it will. The jump in class from the BSP to the Championship is a big one, and I don't think Clough will cope with life in the Championship. (I hope I'm proved wrong!)

I think he would cope ok he has been doing a good job for Burton for some seasons now, he has experience and good man management skills. I just don't think he would want to follow in the same foot steps as his dad and have to try and live up to what he did at Forrest, he will move on to bigger and better things than Burton but It won't be until this season is over.

The Burton Express rolls on. 2-0 winners at Mansfield tonight. Come on Derby. Tempt him out.

I really don't think it would change much at the club. A new man would want to keep everything the same and Burton might just make someone at the club an acting manager, just so things were nearly the same. He will be staying in my view and we just need to worry what we do out on the pitch and let others start to worry about us.

I do think if he went it would have a negative effect on them, though. Perhaps not straight away - or as early as the 6th January - but at some point before the season's up. Incidentally, I see Banim scored a couple the other day. Not as good a signing as Pearson, though.

Let him stay, Sir Alex Ferguson was asked last night if he was worryed about the 10 points between them and Liverpool, not at all he said, if its like that in March I'll start to worry. Thats enough for me, we'll reel them in no problem Do your worst Cloughie

Billy Davies it is. I was hoping for Cloughie to go as it would not have helped Burton and may have just hindered them. Oh well, still us v them in the play-off final then...
