Let him stay, Sir Alex Ferguson was asked last night if he was worryed about the 10 points between them and Liverpool, not at all he said, if its like that in March I'll start to worry. Thats enough for me, we'll reel them in no problem Do your worst Cloughie I would say that although United are currently 7 points behind Liverpool, they've got 2 games in hand and will only be a point behind if they win them. Lets also bear in mind that United have barely managed to engage 2nd gear yet. Strange of Forest to name Billy Davies as their preferred candidate while he's still in negociations with them!

I can't see Nigel Clough going anywhere.
He is completely different from his old man and i agree it is unlikely he would want to follow in his fathers footsteps by managing Forest or Derby.
From some of his interviews on Setanta over the last 2 seasons, he comes across as a very genuine and likable person, he also comes across as a family orientated guy. In one he did suggest that he wouldn't want to leave the club he had 'built' and molded as he felt that it was an extension of his own family.
I believe that he has got what it takes to make it at a higher grade, but I'm not sure if he really wants to?? at the moment. Besides he hasn't finished what he started at Burton yet, why would he leave right now when he is so close to Promotion??
The league positions of Exeter & Aldershot suggest that the top 5/6 in the BSP could easily hold their own in league 2, therefore surely he would fancy his chances of pushing for promotion next year as well, providing they do go up this season (I'm pretty sure they will)

Burton chairman has said on the BBC that he'll not stand in the way of Clough going to Derby. Should we read an approach into that?
I could never really understand why he never moved to a bigger club before now, he seems to have been at Burton forever and doing better thsn the setup or cash would have suggested.

witneygull it could mean that an approach has been made for Nigel Clough, the thing is, does he have it in his mind that we wants to finish the job he started at Burton. That would be to get them into the football league, he now has the best chance this season of doing that.
I do not think there is any question about could he be a manager of a much higher team, I'm sure he could walk into many other clubs further up and do a first class job. If I was him I would stick with the job in hand, get Burton up and then sit back and consider all the offers that would surly come in then.

longeatongull, looks like there is a real possibility he could leave Burton then, still think it will not have to much impact on their season if he did. We just need to keep trying to make sure we win our games. Seems it might a bit cold up your way on Tuesday night.

It could be his final game tomorrow (weather permitting) therams.co.uk/stories/rams-make-their-first-approach-for-clough-as-managerIs it going to work in Burton players favour, to raise their game in appreciation of their loyal servant Or Leave them wondering where they go on from here?? I think he will still be in charge tomorrow.... unless he stops of at Derby on his way home from Blyth

Come on Derby. Tempt him out. Sky Sports quotes him as interested in the vacancy. When does ITV/Setanta decide which FA Cup games are on? This would put Derby/Forest nailed on for one of the games. Pearson will be aware of the £160k for that. A number of Derby fans seem gutted at the prospect. They should think themselves lucky, I'd say. Hopefully the Burton players will be shell shocked and play like patsies. Hmmmm...unlikely.

Could this be the day that shape's the rest of the season. news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/d/derby_county/7813858.stmNo malice meant towards Burton but I'm really happy this has happened. With the game being called of to boot this could be a significant day for us. Had the match been on it would have been a big night with a Conference record on the line combined with a farewell to Clough and a hammer blow to their rivals. It will be interesting to see when the game will be rearranged now.

Well it can only be a positive for us, there is no other reasonable logical way. We are not expected to win the leaguein most people's eyes so being top of the league and now managerless can only be unsettling for them...bring it on.

First manager I have seen linked with the role...the one and only Roy McFarland. Infact thats now been announced. www.burtonalbionfc.co.uk/ba_newsDt.asp?nUID=457"Chairman Ben Robinson has moved quickly to fill the gap left by Clough's departure by announcing the appointment of former Derby County defender Roy McFarland on a caretaker basis until the end of the season."
