link - Reid into league 2 with the stags, good luck to him. Slightly surprised JR has gone to Mansfield Town and would imagine quite a few clubs were in for him. Can only wish him the best of luck hes worked very hard and deserves a crack at the next level. Obviously ambitious and obviously needed to make a move now while his stock was high as he's approaching what should be his peak years. Time and form can quickly disappear for players like Jamie and I feel it was the right time for him to test his abilities against better players. Mansfield Town a little underwhelming perhaps but good luck and hope it works out for him. |

Deserves to playing League football after the last two seasons. I hope it works out well for him.

It could be that in the uncertain economic climate Mansfield were able to offer more guarantees or perhaps a better chance of first team of football. |

Devon Live reporting on Reid’s thoughts on signing for Mansfield. Mention of Mansfield always makes me think of the anecdote Cloughie told about signing Shilton. Stoke were relegated as Forest were promoted in 1977. Cloughie tapped up Shilts but Shilts said he would give it a season in the second division with Stoke as the standard wasn't too bad down there. Mansfield were division 3 Champions in 1977 - making the second tier for the first (and so far last) time in their history. When the fixtures came out, Clough could not believe his luck. Opening day : Mansfield v Stoke. Clough rang Shilton the day after the game and asked how he was finding the second division. Shilton signed for Forest a week or two later. |
