Congratulations to two of our youth players who have signed pro terms with the club. They are Jacob Evans and Owen Price who both featured in the preseason friendlies last season. I particularly remember Evans who got a start and played most of the game on the left wing against Tiverton and acquitted himself well there.. Both also featured in the England National College side last year - link

I look forward to the day when we can see local youngsters playing in the first team on a regular basis.

link - patience is the name of the game as Johnson talks to various parties but until we know about when the season recommences all are in limbo.

I have a feeling Nemane could turn out to be a very decent signing haven't seen the best of him yet plenty more to come for sure.. Laid back and ready for the challenge. Good interview..

Update on squad, now up to 15 and includes 4 from the youth system. Johnson has talked about needing 2 or 3 signings and 2 or 3 loanees. As discussed before, 2 central defenders along the lines of Warren and Lewis, another central midfielder either Vincent or CLE and 2 more decent strikers would see us looking good.
Keepers - Macdonald. Covalan
Defenders - Wynter, Davis, Cameron, Slough, Price
Midfielders- Whitfield, Hall, Nemane, Buse, Andrews, Evans and Little.
Strikers - Koszela

Wasn't very prolific at this level for Solihull, think he scored six last season. Don't think this would be a good signing. Shouldn't we wait a bit before making anymore signings, what if some of the teams above us go bust thus releasing better quality players into the market?

He is not the type of striker that Johnson has typically gone for while with us but could give us another option and there is no denying the links with our management team although as always very easy to add 2 and 2 together and get 5.

Some great interviews of late and well worth a watch. These two young players appear to have the right credentials to become long term pros though so many fall at the first few hurdles. Hope they make the grade though the demands of professional football are great. Ability alone isn't enough these days and from what I've heard from Gary Johnson is that he demands much much more from his players. Our club have undoubtedly reaped the rewards from his philosophy.

link - this caught my eye as Royston Town have tweeted that their 24 year old striker Matt Bateman has agreed terms with a national league club. You can see from the link that he scored 43 goals two seasons ago and then another 24 goals last season in the Southern league which considering it was curtailed early is some strike rate and knows where the goal is! It may be that one of the play-off sides are looking to bolster their striking options short term or as we are one of the few sides in the league that have signed players, maybe this is the target that Johnson and Johnson have been tracking and think has the potential to improve and replace Reidy. Would have a nice lead in time to get up to National League speed.
