New 'keeper Ryan Clarke, with the well sprinkled Plainmoor pitch behind him

Strangely enough, Nico is actually putting together quite a good side, on paper at least. Do we really have a ' top half ' budget as has been stated? Even more strangely enough, I'm quite looking forward to the coming season!

Similar question posed elsewhere, with one knowledgeable Kiddie claiming that it was Graham Stack rather than Ryan Clarke in goal for Eastleigh on that occasion.

Well, at least we could scrape a couple of teams for 6-a-side in pre-season training! Should we be a little worried about the lack of new faces thus far?

Thin dividing line between misplaced optimism and misplaced pessimism perhaps?

I think it's got to the stage where if the opposite had happened and Nico had acquired a lot of players earlier, many are convinced we would instead be reading 'Should we be worried that Nico has spent his cash too soon, when better bargains would have been available had he only had the patience to wait until early July'I've got a 'Fake Worry' stamp on order, as I think it needs to be applied to some of the posts .

WORRY YE NOT !
King Kev adds further to the squad by signing a new left back. His name is Liam Davis. Apparently this isn't the Liam Davis with the rainbow laces, this one has come to us straight from Cheltenham. Another quality signing by King Kev, and the defence has really taken shape now.
Remembering Kev's words in the Sunday Janner of June 18th: "We now have three centre-halves and people naturally assume that one of them may miss out and some are very quick to assume that may be Myles. I hope he sees that because it will give him something to prove. He can also play at left-back and maybe that is where we want him to play. I have got all kinds of options to look at, and that is the idea when you're putting together a squad".
So while we can probably safely assume that Liam Davis will be the first choice left-back, Myles Anderson's versatility will most likely see him regarded as capable cover for that position. Although the new lad is sufficiently versatile himself that he can fill a slot further forward on the left if need be, again allowing Anderson to drop in as full back.
Let's hope this signing helps soothe one or two troubled brows among the fanbase.

Yes, the squad is bulging with the sheer numbers of players signed-up so far! Positive thought though - things maybe a little sparse but thus far the squad quality and experience does seem more promising than the past couple of seasons but we do need 3-4 more key signings to beef things up.

We were discussing this at work yesterday and our opinion is that the squad is on a par with last year, just waiting (I guess) for a back up keeper, winger and 20 goal a season striker

One more player added to the squad. Liam Davies, the team is shaping up for the forthcoming season. Another 2 / 3 to sign up before the season starts plus some trailists to look at and get on board. The usual loan player system. Looking forward to a exciting season, what else if you support The Gulls.

jj That's got to be the way to look at it jj, and I'm sure everyone is pleased to see you back here posting, after no doubt enduring some tougher times than most of us would wish to go through. Nico stated a couple of weeks ago that: 'We are not likely to have the biggest squad in the world and we may not have two players vying for every position. We don't have that sort of luxury but we will have competition'
It seems like a case of being pleased with the useful players recruited, but to be realistic enough to accept we can't afford lots of them. Although Ruari Keating started a couple of games at the end of last season, he's still a bit raw and I doubt Kev suddenly expects him to be a starter through a 46 game campaign this time round. And so the big 'target man' signing will turn up at Plainmoor sometime. Not the end of the world if he's not recruited in time to kick off the season, but a signing we intend to make, along with a back up goalkeeper...but we've shown recently that one of those can be picked up from a local park as Kev drives to Plainmoor on matchday, so no need to panic there either. The good news keeps coming #ClimbingWithClarke #SustainableSuccess
